PHOTO: AFP / GETTY IMAGES

We hear at Gossip On This called it months ago (back in January during the primaries) but CNN is projecting that Barack Obama has won the 2008 presidential election. WE DID IT! Not only have we elected the first African American president in the history of the United States of America, but we have put someone in office who can possibly turn this country around. It’s very doubtful that he’ll be able to restore our country 100% over the next 8 years, but he has a better chance of doing it than old man McLame.

It’s surreal to believe that all of this is a reality…

CNN projects that Barack Obama will be the nation’s 44th president. As polls closed on the West coast, the Illinois senator was projected to receive enough electoral votes to pass the 270-vote threshold. Obama is projected to win California, Washington, Oregon and Hawaii. He also is projected to win Virginia, a state that hasn’t voted for a Democratic president since 1964.

As Obama built up a commanding lead over Sen. John McCain, senior aides to the Arizona senator were growing pessimistic about his chances. When asked if they saw a path to victory, two senior McCain aides said no.

Ever heard of the saying, “Believe some of what you see, and none of what you hear?” Tomorrow, November 4th 2008, will possibly be the most important day in the history of the United States of America. We have the possibility of not only getting a black man in the oval office, but we have the possibility of getting a GREAT man in the oval office, and people are scared. We can’t let them take our vote though! You have to cross your t’s and dot your i’s tomorrow when you step into the polls. You have to make sure your vote is counted. Check, double check, triple check, QUADRUPLE CHECK! If it takes you 5 minutes to make sure your vote goes through, then so be it. Those 5 minutes of your life will probably be one of the most important 5 minutes you’ll ever experience. We can’t afford to let McLAME and that Sarah Palin loser have this. We just can’t.

Barack Obama is leading the polls, and just about every major news network has him as the projected winner. But that dream can only become a reality if you go out and VOTE! I’ve seen people camp out for concert tickets, iPhones, Nintendo Wiis, and other things. So what’s the difference? If you have to get up at 6 AM and camp out in front of your polling location, then so be it. DO IT!

And no matter what you see on fliers, or hear on the telephone, TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY FOR YOU TO VOTE! If you haven’t had the opportunity to participate in early vote, then you must go to the polls tomorrow to vote. Don’t believe that bull the Republicans are spreading around talking about “Democrats vote on Wednesday.” When has that ever happened? Short answer: NEVER! So don’t fall for it.

Those sneaky Republicans are even deterring people with criminal convictions from the polls by saying that they can possibly be arrested at the polls. NOT TRUE! It’s never happened in the past, and we can assure you that it won’t happen tomorrow. They could care less about your unpaid parking tickets or you owing child support. So, like we said: BELIEVE SOME OF WHAT YOU SEE, AND NONE OF WHAT YOU HEAR.

Let’s make this happen people. Let’s make history happen. See you at the polls!

With the election less than two weeks away, I believe it is time to introduce something new to GOT, and we are going to appropriately borrow a little slang from our friends over at Globalgrind.com and call it “politricks!” Because that’s exactly what they are: tricks from politicians and supporters alike who want nothing but failure for the Democratic party in this year’s election. Let’s face it: at this point, if everyone goes out and votes like they’re supposed to, a black man is going to be in office. And that scares people. It scares people to the point where they (and when I say they I mean THEM – the Republicans) will go as far as sabotaging an election.

Three Putnam County voters say electronic voting machines changed their votes from Democrats to Republicans when they cast early ballots last week. This is the second West Virginia county where voters have reported this problem. Last week, three voters in Jackson County told The Charleston Gazette their electronic vote for “Barack Obama” kept flipping to “John McCain”.

In both counties, Republicans are responsible for overseeing elections. Both county clerks said the problem is isolated. They also blamed voters for not being more careful.

“But we haven’t had any major issues. We try to explain to voters how the machines work then they come in,” Wood said. In Putnam County, early voters have the option of asking for either touch-screen machines or optical scan ballots — paper ballots on which people mark in their election choices. Wood said some voters might not realize that touch-screen voting machines may take a few seconds to record their choices.

“People make mistakes more than machines,” said Jackson County Clerk Jeff Waybright. Shelba Ketchum, a 69-year-old nurse retired from Thomas Memorial Hospital, described what happened Friday at the Putnam County Courthouse in Winfield. “I pushed buttons and they all came up Republican,” she said. “I hit Obama and it switched to McCain. I am really concerned about that. If McCain wins, there was something wrong with the machines. “I asked them for a printout of my votes,” Ketchum said. “But they said it was in the machine and I could not get it. I did not feel right when I left the courthouse. My son felt the same way.

“I heard from some other people they also had trouble. But no one in there knew how to fix it,” said Ketchum, who is not related to Menis Ketchum, a Democratic Supreme Court candidate. Ketchum’s son, Chris, said he had the same problem. And Bobbi Oates of Scott Depot said her vote for incumbent Democratic Sen. John D. Rockefeller was switched to GOP opponent Jay Wolfe. “I touched the one I wanted, Rockefeller, and the machine put a checkmark on the Republican instead,” Oates said of her experience Thursday.

She said she caught the mistake, called over a worker in the county clerk’s office and was able to correct her vote. But she worries other voters may not catch such a mistake. When asked if she is sure she touched the box for Rockefeller, she said, “I’m absolutely positive.” Putnam County Clerk Brian Wood said on Saturday that he is upset there are “so many negative stories out there and not enough positive ones. We want people to vote. People need to know the facts.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell has officially announced his endorsement for Democratic presidential nominee, Barack Obama – a move that will make a lot of undecided and Republican voters alike hop on the Obama train. Why? Because Colin Powell is Republican!

“I think we need a transformational figure. I think we need a president who is a generational change and that’s why I’m supporting Barack Obama, not out of any lack of respect or admiration for Sen.
It is hard to believe that we are less than three weeks away from the 2008 presidential election. Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain participated in the last of the debates for this year’s presidential race. Last night’s debate was Obama’s last chance to convince us even more than he already has that between him and that old dude, he’s the best candidate for the job of running this country. McCain’s old negative and sarcastic ass made himself look like a fool tonight. This whole Obama thing must be really pissing him off! Check out the videos here if you didn’t get a chance to catch it on every major network on television (yeah, there’s almost no excuse for you not to have already seen this).

Follow the break to check out tons of photos of people from all over supporting Obama!

I’m not sure if you caught last night’s debate, but if you were worried about Barack Obama being our future president, then I’m here to tell you to worry no more! Sarah Palin and Joe Biden faced off in a vice presidential debate last night at St. Louis University, and after watching the debate, I know 2 things: 1.) Sarah Palin doesn’t know what the hell she’s talking about and has horrible public speaking skills, and 2.) come January 20th 2009, we’re going to have a black man in the oval office. ‘Nuff said. Check out videos of the debate here if you weren’t able to last night. Oh yeah, and REGISTER TO VOTE … NOW!

Oh, and one more thing: is it just me or did Sarah tend to go off topic throughout the debate, and it seemed as though she made up for not knowing how to answer the question by “beating around the bush” or just changing the context of the question in her answer.

Boy, oh boy, Saturday Night Live is gonna have a field day with this one!

Leading up to the North Carolina and Indiana primaries, three obvious scenarios were discussed by analysts: Obama would win both states, Clinton would take both states, or they would each win one. The latter was thought to be most likely. Well they did each win one state by CNN estimates, but somehow it wasn’t quite that…at least if you were following the results as they came in.

In North Carolina, the polls closed at 7pm, some of the exit poll data was being parsed by analysts, and anchors and reporters were afoot about possible outcomes. Normal fare. Then some 30 minutes after the polls closed with little precinct data: Obama was declared the winner by the networks; the results later giving him a win by 14%. Neat and all wrapped up like a nice chicken burrito.

Indiana was quite a different night.

They were the first to report results and they favored Clinton heavily. Clinton was leading by some 18 percent, with only a third of the vote counted earlier on. But then that lead was whittled away hour by hour. The attention began to focus on a little known area of Lake County that for some reason hadn’t provided its results. Little known, but the second largest county in the state. And when this Obama-leaning county reported, Indiana became the late night squeaker. A little bleary eyed, the networks finally declared Clinton the winner after 1am ET. Clinton shimmied by with a 2% win – an omelet that almost fell apart as it was being closed up.

Needless to say, by the numbers, Clinton needed strong wins in Indiana and North Carolina. And with the tight win in Indiana, she now falls behind by more delegates and more votes in sanctioned states. And in order to win the nomination based on current superdelegate counts, she would need some 90 percent of the popular vote in the remaining six primaries. That doesn’t seem likely, which has led many analysts to say it’s over.

Nevertheless, she said in her victory speech last night, “full speed ahead”, saying she is more electable, and that getting Michigan and Florida to count is paramount. Her morning schedule has been moved around a bit after the results came out which has some thinking they are discussing options internally. We expect to hear from her in West Virginia this morning.

As for Obama, he solidifies his frontrunner status on all manners of numbers. His victory speech was inclusive and upbeat and his energy was back after seeing the Jeremiah Wright controversy test his campaign’s message. In his speech, Obama appeared to have been recharged by his clear North Carolina victory and narrow Indiana loss.

So what do you think of last night’s primaries. Where does this leave the Democratic party? Should the two candidates continue until June 3rd, or up until the convention in August? And what do you think of how the two candidates won last night? Many of the dynamics that gave each their wins in previous primaries were reinforced again yesterday: the older and working class vote went for Clinton, and the upscale/educated and black vote went for Obama. Good for the GOP was that the dynamic of a chasm widening also persisted. Early exit polling showed about half of Clinton voters in Indiana would not vote for Obama or sit out the vote in November; a third of Obama voters in North Carolina felt the same.

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (CNN) — Sen. Hillary Clinton claimed victory in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, beating out Sen. Barack Obama after a bruising seven-week campaign.”It’s a long road to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and it runs right through the heart of Pennsylvania,” she told supporters in Philadelphia. I’m in this race to fight for you … You know you can count on me to stand up strong for you every single day in the White House.”

Clinton commended Obama and his campaign, saying they are in many ways “on this journey together.” Tuesday’s projected victory follows Clinton’s wins in other big states such as Ohio, New York and California. Her campaign said that should raise new questions about whether Obama, who leads Clinton in the overall Democratic race, can beat presumptive Republican nominee John McCain in November.

“The tide is turning,” Clinton told cheering supporters. Chelsea Clinton’s eyes welled with tears as she watched her mother speak.

With about 99 percent of precincts reporting, Clinton was leading Obama by 10 points. Clinton will pick up a majority of the state’s 158 delegates.

(CNN) — Sen. Barack Obama claimed victory in Mississippi’s Democratic primary Tuesday. “What we’ve tried to do is steadily make sure that in each state we are making the case about the need for change in this country. Obviously the people in Mississippi responded,” Obama told CNN after his win. Mississippi had 33 pledged delegates up for grabs, which will be allocated proportionally. The state’s Democratic voters were sharply divided among racial lines, exit polls indicate. As has been the case in many primary states, Obama won overwhelming support from African-American voters. They went for him over Clinton 91-9 percent. The state has a larger proportion African-Americans (36 percent, according to the 2000 census) than any other state in the country. And black voters make up nearly 70 percent of registered Democrats.

But Mississippi white voters overwhelmingly backed the New York senator, supporting her over Obama 72 percent to 21 percent. According to the Associated Press, only two other primary states were as racially polarized — neighboring Alabama, and Clinton’s former home state of Arkansas. The exit polls also indicated roughly 40 percent of Mississippi Democratic voters said race was an important factor in their vote, and 90 percent of those voters supported Obama. In Ohio, roughly one in five voters said race factored into their decision. About 60 percent of those voters picked Clinton over Obama. Clinton’s campaign issued a statement congratulating Obama on his win, and said they “look forward to campaigning in Pennsylvania and around the country as this campaign continues.”

Pennsylvania is the next battleground for the Democrats. It holds its primary on April 22 and has 158 delegates at stake.

Obama also finished first in the Texas Democratic caucuses. The caucuses were held last week, but the race was not called until Tuesday night. Obama will get more delegates out of the state than Clinton, who won the state’s primary. Under the Texas Democratic Party’s complex delegate selection plan, Texas voters participated in both a primary and caucuses last week. Two-thirds of the state’s 193 delegates were at stake at the primary, while the remaining third were decided by the caucuses. Obama leads Clinton in the overall delegate count 1,597-1,470, but neither candidate is close to the 2,025 delegates needed to clinch the Democratic presidential nomination.

Between 125,000 and 150,000 voters were expected to cast ballots Tuesday, according to Pamela Weaver of the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office. While the number would represent a 25 to 50 percent increase in turnout from the 2004 primaries, Weaver still described the voting rate as light to moderate. Obama touched on the Mississippi Delta’s economic struggles during a final campaign stop in Greenville, Mississippi, according to the AP.

“We just haven’t seen as much opportunity come to this area as we’d like,” he told those gathered at a restaurant, the AP reported. “And one of the challenges, I think, for the next president is making sure that we’re serving all communities and not just some communities.” Obama campaigned in Mississippi on Monday and spent part of Tuesday doing the same, while rival Clinton made a swing through the state on Thursday and Friday.

In addition, former President Bill Clinton made the rounds for his wife in Mississippi over the weekend. For Mississippi, it’s a moment to bask in the national spotlight. And for a state with images of a strictly segregated past, the Democratic primary is a chance to alter some long held stereotypes.

“We’re seeing a contest where I think you’re going to see a huge turnout of voters voting either for a woman or an African-American, and that gives us a chance to make a statement,” said Marty Wiseman, a professor of political science at Mississippi State University.

CHEYENNE, Wyoming (CNN) — After losing Democratic contests in the delegate-rich states of Ohio and Texas this week, presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama won the Wyoming Democratic caucus Saturday. Obama led rival Sen. Hillary Clinton by 61 percent to 38 percent, with all of the precincts reporting. The caucus thrust the state, which has only 12 delegates, into the spotlight because the close race between Obama and Clinton means that every delegate counts.

Although Wyoming typically is not a stop for Democrats looking for delegates to clinch the party’s presidential nomination, its numbers could make a difference this year because of the delegate deadlock. With slightly more than 600 delegates left at stake, every remaining contest is crucial to both candidates. The two are separated by fewer than 100 delegates, CNN estimates, with Obama leading Clinton 1,527 to 1,428.

CNN estimates that Obama will win at least seven delegates and Clinton will win at least four, with one delegate still outstanding. Five of Wyoming’s 12 delegates will be allocated at the state convention, which will be held Memorial Day in Jackson, but the allocation will be based on caucus results. “We are thrilled with this near split in delegates and are grateful to the people of Wyoming for their support,” Clinton’s campaign manager, Maggie Williams, said in a statement.

“Although the Obama campaign predicted victory in Wyoming weeks ago, we worked hard to present Sen. Clinton’s vision to the caucus-goers, and we thank them for turning out today.” On Friday, both senators were in Wyoming to lure last-minute votes. Clinton held town hall meetings in Cheyenne and Casper, and also dispatched former President Clinton to help drum up support. Obama spoke at a town hall meeting in Casper, using the opportunity to criticize Clinton’s 2002 vote on the war in Iraq.

“I will bring this war to an end in 2009, so don’t be confused … when Senator Clinton is not willing to acknowledge that she voted for war,” he said. “I don’t want to play politics on this issue, because she doesn’t have standing to question my position on this issue.”

The state’s Democratic governor, Dave Freudenthal, said he has endorsed neither candidate because, in his view, they have mostly neglected “Western issues” like the environment, water and energy. However, he said he was lobbied hard by both campaigns in the weeks leading up to the caucus. Former Gov. Mike Sullivan backed Clinton some time ago. State Democratic Party chief John Millin has endorsed Obama.
advertisement

“Seriously, I never imagined when I took this job that we would see the day when the two front-runners for the Democratic presidential nomination would hold events in Wyoming on the eve of our county caucuses,” state Democratic Party spokesman Bill Luckett wrote on the state party’s Web site this week.

“I think there’s a reasonable chance we’ll get our 15 minutes in the national spotlight when the deal goes down on Saturday.”

(CNN) — Democrats faced the prospect of at least six more weeks of tough campaigning after Hillary Clinton’s Tuesday night wins in Tuesday’s primaries in Ohio and Texas as she escaped a knockout blow by Barack Obama. Both Democratic contenders are eyeing Pennsylvania — the last heavyweight state on the primary calendar — as the next major battleground. The state votes April 22, after Democratic caucuses in Wyoming on Saturday and a Mississippi primary March 11.

“Ohio has written a new chapter in the history of this campaign, and we’re just getting started,” Clinton told supporters in her victory speech in Ohio. “More and more people have joined this campaign, and millions of Americans haven’t spoken yet. In states like Pennsylvania and so many others, people are watching this historic campaign, and they want their turn to help make history.”

After winning the biggest prizes in the February 5 Super Tuesday contests, the New York senator and former first lady dropped 11 straight primaries and caucuses to Obama and watched her leads in Ohio and Texas dwindle to single digits in published polls. Obama supporters began calling for her to quit the race in order to head off a more divisive endgame, and even her husband — former President Bill Clinton — told supporters she would be unable to win the nomination without victories in those states. But Clinton hit back with a television ad aimed at raising concerns about Obama’s experience, an ad juxtaposing a sleeping child with a late-night emergency call to the White House.

Her campaign also jumped into the controversy over an Obama adviser’s meeting with Canadian officials to discuss trade policy as the Illinois senator was calling for changes in the North American Free Trade Agreement, accusing him of telling voters one thing and the largest U.S. trade partner another. The attacks appeared to hit their mark: About one in three voters in the Texas and Ohio primaries made up their minds in the last week, and those who did broke heavily for Clinton.

“Obama gave his adversaries a big gift when he stumbled and mismanaged this NAFTA issue in Va state that’s economically pressed,” said CNN contributor Paul Begala, a Clinton backer. “Hillary moved ahead on that, and I think that’s why we’re calling Ohio for her.”

Obama advisers point out that they closed the gap drastically in three weeks of intense campaigning, and that despite Tuesday’s losses, he will still lead Clinton in the pursuit of the national convention delegates who will choose a nominee in Denver in August.

“The real measurement tonight is not whether or not Hillary Clinton can win Ohio or Texas, it’s whether she wins by a large enough margin to win the nomination,” Sen. John Kerry, the party’s 2004 presidential nominee, told CNN. “And she has to win by a very big number for the math to work over the course of the next week.”

Kerry said Clinton’s attacks on Obama — which were accompanied by complaints that the first-term senator was getting kid-glove treatment by reporters — sounded “sort of desperate” and risked turning off voters in November. But other observers said Obama can’t continue to take those kind of hits without responding.

“He must begin to answer some of these charges by Sen. Clinton,” said Donna Brazile, a CNN contributor who managed former Vice President Al Gore’s 2000 presidential bid. “She’s gotten away with four days of Sen. Obama, you know, not being able to get back on offense.”

David Gergen — a former adviser to the Nixon, Reagan and Clinton administrations — said Obama “has to throw a punch.”

“He has to go on the offense,” Gergen said. “He’s foresworn going after her with negative ads, but he can’t be hit around the head and shoulders and not fight back.”

[ VIA CNN ]

If you don’t feel like reading all of that, here are they key points of the article:

Hillary Clinton won the two most important states, Ohio and Texas, in addition to Rhode Island.

Barack Obama took a victory in Vermont, and still, currently, has the most delegate votes.

The next BIG primary is Pennsylvania (Apr. 22). A caucus in Wyoming and a primary Mississippi precede that on March 8th and 11th, respectively.

Political analysts say that Barack needs to fight fire with fire if he wants to keep his lead in the race.

It is still unclear if either Hillary or Barack will represent the Democrats in the November 2008 election.

Senator Barack Obama got a major boost Tuesday with victories in the Democratic presidential primaries in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. Obama remains in a tight race with Senator Hillary Clinton, but the Illinois senator is favored to add to his delegate lead in next Tuesday’s contests in Wisconsin and Hawaii. VOA National correspondent Jim Malone reports from Washington. Experts were struck by the margins of the Obama victories on Tuesday, especially in Virginia and Maryland where he won 64 percent and 62 percent of the vote respectively. Obama benefited from strong support from African-Americans and a burning desire for change among many voters like this man in the nation’s capital.

“I just want to see change in the world and I think this primary can bring about change, specifically on Iraq and health care,” he said. Obama has now won eight contests in a row against Clinton and hopes to build unstoppable momentum with victories in next Tuesday’s primary in Wisconsin and a Democratic caucus in Hawaii. “It is about whether we are looking backwards or whether we are marching forward,” said Obama. “And when I am the Democratic nominee for president, that will be the choice we have in November.”

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Many voters in Saturday’s Republican contests showed they’re not yet ready to support Sen. John McCain as their party’s nominee while Sen. Barack Obama cut into Sen. Hillary Clinton’s lead in the race for Democratic delegates. Obama claimed victory in Louisiana, Nebraska and Washington on Saturday, as well as in the Virgin Islands. “The stakes are too high and the challenges are too great to play the same old Washington game with the same old Washington players and expect a different result,” Obama told a hugely supportive crowd of Democrats at the Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Richmond, Virginia. “People want to turn the page. They want to write a new chapter in American history.”

Clinton has 1,100 delegates and Obama has 1,039, according to CNN calculations. Obama leads in pledged delegates — 908 to 877 — but Clinton’s superdelegates — 223 to 131 — give her the overall lead. “If I’m your nominee, you will never have to worry that I will be knocked out of the ring, because I do have strength and experience to lead this country, and I am ready to go toe-to-toe with Sen. McCain whenever and wherever he desires,” Clinton said Saturday. [ READ MORE » ]

Results are still being finalized, so I won’t be able to post a full rundown of percentages and what-not until tomorrow, but according to a post on Barack Obama’s blog via his official website, the Illinois Senator has been named the winner of Super Tuesday by his campaign manager David Plouffe.

By winning a majority of delegates and a majority of the states, Barack Obama won an important Super Tuesday victory over Senator Clinton in the closest thing we have to a national primary. From Colorado and Utah in the west to Georgia and Alabama in the south to Senator Clinton’s backyard in Connecticut, Obama showed that he can win the support of Americans of every race, gender, and political party in every region of the country. That’s why he’s on track to win Democratic nomination, and that’s why he’s the best candidate to defeat John McCain in November.

UPDATE: The results have been finalized, and although Barack did win the most states, he DID NOT win the most delegates from Super Tuesday, which contradicts this post. But it was pretty close, as Hillary only beat him by 9 delegate votes. As far as the overall race goes, Sen. Hillary Clinton currently has 823 delegate votes, while Sen. Barack Obama only has 741 delegate votes.

But just to clarify, BARACK OBAMA DID NOT WIN SUPER TUESDAY!

NEW YORK (CNN) — Just how sharply are Democrats divided between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton? Of all the votes cast on Super Tuesday for the two candidates nationwide, they are only separated by 0.4 of a percentage point. By midday Wednesday, 14,645,638 votes were reported cast for either Obama or Clinton on Tuesday. Clinton had won 7,350,238 of those votes (50.2 percent) while Obama captured 7,295,400 votes (49.8 percent).

Most precincts had reported 100 percent of their votes by Wednesday, though some districts had yet to complete their count. Many of those votes are in in New Mexico, where CNN has yet to declare a winner, and in California, where a sizeable number of absentee votes have yet to be tallied.

Sorry I couldn’t get this up sooner. My internet connection has been acting up all weekend…

Not even two weeks ago, if you were to take a poll in South Carolina asking voters in the Democratic party who they would be voting for in the January 26th 2008 primary, HIllary Clinton probably would’ve had slightly more votes than Barack Obama. Over the past two weeks, that has dramatically changed! I don’t know if it was the comments regarding Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., or Bob Johnson showing us that he’s a living, breathing Uncle Ruckus, but something changed the black vote in South Carolina! Over 70% of the African American vote went to Barack Obama! And when it came to the entire state of SC, Senator Obama had well over 50% of the vote! I actually took part in this primary and casted my vote, so the results actually mean something to me. If you haven’t done so already, I’m not asking, I’M TELLING YOU to register to vote! You can’t participate in the primaries, but you’ll definitely be able to participate in the general election this November.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Senator Barack Obama won a commanding victory over Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in the South Carolina Democratic primary on Saturday, drawing a wide majority of black support and one-quarter of white voters in a contest that sets the stage for a multistate fight for the party’s presidential nomination. In a bitter campaign here infused with discussions of race, Mr. Obama’s convincing victory puts him on equal footing with Mrs. Clinton — with two wins each in early-voting states — and gives him fresh momentum as the contest plunges into a nationwide battle over the next 10 days.

Former Senator John Edwards, a native of South Carolina who was trying to revive his candidacy, came in third place but vowed to keep his campaign alive, despite failing to win a single state so far. With 99 percent of the electoral precincts reporting, Mr. Obama had 55 percent of the vote, Mrs. Clinton had 27 percent, and Mr. Edwards had 18 percent.
This is barely the beginning of the race. More than 20 states will vote or caucus on February 5th, in what they’re calling “Super Tuesday!” The following states will hold either a primary or a caucus on February 5th 2008: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Utah. Based on the number of delegate votes, Hillary Clinton is currently in the lead, but we’ll see how things turn out on Super Tuesday. If you’re a registered voter in one of the previously listed states, we ask that you exercise your rights by going out and voting!

It baffles me how these prominent black leaders (Bob Johnson, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the list goes on) are supporting a white woman over a black man. Not that Hillary isn’t a great candidate or anything, but c’mon! This is our chance to get someone of color into the White House, and he actually has a chance AND the credentials! Unlike when Al or Jesse ran. Maybe that’s why they’re a little bitter. But hey, at least we have Oprah. She has her head on straight. These other fools? Eff them!

Not to mention <strike>Uncle Tom</strike> Bob Johnson created “BET,” which is known for exploiting the African American race and showing us in a negative light. And on top of that, he sold it to VIACOM! Negro please… I wonder how big that check that he got from the Clintons was. Black people better wake up, and fast!

I guess Bloomberg was wrong in their prediction for Tuesday’s New Hampshire primaries.

Hillary Rodham Clinton proved Tuesday that more than one Clinton can be “the Comeback Kid.” “Over the last week, I listened to you, and in the process I found my own voice,” Clinton said at a victory celebration after her win over Barack Obama. “Now, together, let’s give America the kind of comeback that New Hampshire has just given me.” Clinton, whose husband used a second-place finish in New Hampshire in 1992 to propel himself to the White House, had trailed Obama in recent polling. In the last days, though, she overhauled her campaign operation here and took a new tone to the trail. Aides, meanwhile, executed the long-laid ground game that even rivals acknowledged was masterful. The New York senator and former first lady hugged both former President Clinton and their daughter, Chelsea, before taking the podium and saying, “thank you, thank you so much” repeatedly.

“I come tonight with a very, very full heart and I want especially to thank New Hampshire,” she said. “For all the ups and down of this campaign, you helped remind everyone that politics isn’t a game. … We came back tonight because you spoke loudly and clearly. Tomorrow, we’re going to get up, roll up our sleeves and keep going,” Clinton said to enthusiastic applause. In the end, though, key voting blocs were there for Clinton in New Hampshire — or weren’t there for Obama, depending on how the campaigns frame it. According to exit polling conducted by The Associated Press and the networks, far more women voted than men; Clinton won 45 percent of them compared to 36 for Obama. Also according to exit polls, fewer younger voters turned out in New Hampshire than in Iowa, depriving Obama of crucial support.

Clinton’s organization delivered. She hired the state’s top political organizers, including the executive director of the New Hampshire Democratic Party that helped orchestrate 2006′s landslide wins in the state House, Senate and Executive Council. She also picked up the popular chairwoman of the party and other party elders. She also picked up key advisers, including Howard Dean’s guru Karen Hicks and belatedly Al Gore aide Doug Hattaway. The homegrown, Granite State feel of the Clinton organization mimicked that of Sen. John Kerry’s 2004 win here. The campaign organized down to the precinct level. They built lists of endorsers and volunteers. They spent more than $5 million on 5,000 television ads in New Hampshire media markets. Despite that, as the summer wore on, Clinton’s poll numbers leveled out. Obama built a similar organization and his name identification crept upward.

When asked Tuesday morning what she planned to tell supporters Tuesday night, Clinton only offered a cautious “We’ll see.” As her optimistic smile made its way to polling places and businesses, record turnout hinted she faced a more difficult than predicted challenge from Obama. Her husband, the former president, starting spinning a loss here and blaming the calendar for not giving the campaign time to adjust after Iowa. The only thing I hate is New Hampshire should have had the customary 10 days after Iowa. If they had, I wouldn’t have any doubt about the outcome of this. It’s just hard to overcome the media deluge,” Bill Clinton said in Seabrook, returning to his frequent criticism of how reporters have covered his wife compared to Obama.

“It’s just almost impossible to vote five days after Iowa without being unduly influenced by the media coverage from Iowa. So, you know, that colored the polls — the switch in the polls for two days — and then we’ve had a three-day election.” Even without the time, it was enough.

– PHILIP ELLIOTT OF THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

This just confirms that at this point, this is anybody’s race. Neither Hillary, nor Obama, “have it in the bag.” If you really want your favorite to win register to vote (if it’s not too late) and participate in your state’s primary or caucus! The next Democratic primary will be held in my state, South Carolina, on Saturday, January 26th, and you know I’ll be exercising my voting rights!

Bloomberg is reporting that our boy Barack Obama has a 90% chance of taking the win in the New Hampshire Democratic primary on Tuesday.

Odds that the 46-year-old Illinois senator will prevail in tomorrow’s vote jumped after he won last week’s Iowa Democratic caucuses, while wagers on New York Senator Hillary Clinton, the third-placed finisher in Iowa, tumbled. Online traders say Clinton, 60, has an 8.7 percent of winning in New Hampshire, according to futures contracts at Intrade, a unit of Dublin-based Trade Exchange Network Co. Bettors give former North Carolina Senator John Edwards, who placed second in Iowa, only a 0.3 percent chance of victory in New Hampshire.

Before the Iowa vote, traders gave Obama a 34 percent chance of victory in the New Hampshire primary and a 1-in-4 likelihood of becoming the presidential nominee. That compared with Clinton’s odds of 60 percent in New Hampshire and a two-thirds likelihood of gaining the party’s presidential nomination. Now, Obama has a 66 percent chance of becoming the Democratic nominee, while Clinton’s odds have fallen to 33 percent, according to Trade Exchange, which runs both Intrade and TradeSports.com.

“t looks like Hillary will lose,” said Mike Lenhoff, who helps oversee about $36 billion as chief strategist at Brewin Dolphin Securities Ltd. in London. “I am genuinely surprised at the groundswell of support that Obama has received and the crest of popularity he has ridden on.” In a USA Today/Gallup poll taken after the results of the Iowa caucuses were reported, Obama and McCain held the advantage with the New Hampshire voters before tomorrow’s primary.

Obama has a 13 percentage-point lead over Clinton; three weeks ago, they were tied, according to the poll published today in USA Today. McCain gained four points over rival Romney, who held a seven-point edge in mid-December, while Huckabee was third. The poll surveyed 776 New Hampshire residents who said they are likely to vote in the Republican primary tomorrow and 778 voters who expected to cast ballots in the Democratic primary, the newspaper said. The margin of error was plus or minus 4 percentage points. Markets may be better prognosticators than surveys of public opinions because markets try to determine who will win, according to Justin Wolfers, a professor of business and public policy at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

“Research from past elections says political prediction markets are at least as accurate as polls and probably more accurate,” said Wolfers. “If you think momentum effects are important, you can predict them today in markets. It’s the dynamic aspect that is most important.”

South Carolina, get on the ball! Don’t listen to what your ministers and preachers are telling you from the pulpit in regards to this election. Let’s show Obama we’re behind him 100% on January 26th! I guess that marks the end of my “unbiased coverage” of the Democratic race… I had a feeling that wouldn’t last long, Lol.

If you’re a regular reader to T2W you’ll know that I am behind Senator Barack Obama 100%! So just in time for the primaries and caucuses, I decided to add a Politics category where I’ll keep you updated on who’s doing what, and who’s winning what states. I’m no politics expert, but this is my first time being able to vote for a President, so I’m still learning about how everything works … so we can learn together, lol. But anyhow, if you haven’t been living under a rock, then you already know that Barack took the win in the Iowa caucus. If you’re interested in seeing his speech, check it out above.

If you have not registered to vote, then I suggest you do before it’s too late! Contrary to popular belief, if you are currently 17 years old, and will turn 18 on or before November 4, 2008, then you can register TODAY and participate in the primary elections. I won’t be 18 until the 18th of this month, but I registered to vote last fall when they had a rally at my school, and told all of the juniors and seniors what I just told you. I’m from South Carolina, and our Democratic primaries will be held on the 19th (Republican) and the 26th (Democratic). So if you’re from SC, it’s too late to register to vote for the PRIMARIES, but you can still register for the NOVEMBER ELECTION. I provided a link below if you are unsure how to register, or if you’re not sure whether or not the deadline has passed for you to participate in the primaries.

Primary elections are important because they decide who will represent the Democrats and Republicans in the election. So, for instance, if you’re rooting for Barack Obama, then you need to participate in the primaries, because if he doesn’t get enough votes, then he won’t even be able to participate in the November election. Now, I could be wrong on how that process works, so if someone knows, please correct me.

CLICK HERE TO SEE WHEN YOUR STATE’S DEADLINE IS!

<strike>Today is the Wyoming caucuses, so I’ll keep you updated on who wins what … even if my favorite doesn’t make the cut. I’ll try to provide you an unbiased view of everything, but I can’t make any promises lol.</strike> My mistake, the Wyoming Democratic caucus isn’t until March 8th. The Republican caucus was held today… But the first Democratic primary will be next Tuesday, January 8th and we’ll definitely keep you updated with that. And just to clarify what I said about providing an “unbiased view of everything,” I meant an unbiased view of the Democratic race. Eff the Republicans lol.
