posts about ‘08 election

We hear at Gossip On This called it months ago (back in January during the primaries) but CNN is projecting that Barack Obama has won the 2008 presidential election. WE DID IT! Not only have we elected the first African American president in the history of the United States of America, but we have put someone in office who can possibly turn this country around. It’s very doubtful that he’ll be able to restore our country 100% over the next 8 years, but he has a better chance of doing it than old man McLame.

It’s surreal to believe that all of this is a reality…

CNN projects that Barack Obama will be the nation’s 44th president. As polls closed on the West coast, the Illinois senator was projected to receive enough electoral votes to pass the 270-vote threshold. Obama is projected to win California, Washington, Oregon and Hawaii. He also is projected to win Virginia, a state that hasn’t voted for a Democratic president since 1964.

As Obama built up a commanding lead over Sen. John McCain, senior aides to the Arizona senator were growing pessimistic about his chances. When asked if they saw a path to victory, two senior McCain aides said no.

VOTERS ACROSS THE NATION HIT BY DIRTY TRICKS: AOL NEWS

Ever heard of the saying, “Believe some of what you see, and none of what you hear?” Tomorrow, November 4th 2008, will possibly be the most important day in the history of the United States of America. We have the possibility of not only getting a black man in the oval office, but we have the possibility of getting a GREAT man in the oval office, and people are scared. We can’t let them take our vote though! You have to cross your t’s and dot your i’s tomorrow when you step into the polls. You have to make sure your vote is counted. Check, double check, triple check, QUADRUPLE CHECK! If it takes you 5 minutes to make sure your vote goes through, then so be it. Those 5 minutes of your life will probably be one of the most important 5 minutes you’ll ever experience. We can’t afford to let McLAME and that Sarah Palin loser have this. We just can’t.

With the election less than two weeks away, I believe it is time to introduce something new to GOT, and we are going to appropriately borrow a little slang from our friends over at Globalgrind.com and call it “politricks!” Because that’s exactly what they are: tricks from politicians and supporters alike who want nothing but failure for the Democratic party in this year’s election. Let’s face it: at this point, if everyone goes out and votes like they’re supposed to, a black man is going to be in office. And that scares people. It scares people to the point where they (and when I say they I mean THEM - the Republicans) will go as far as sabotaging an election.

Three Putnam County voters say electronic voting machines changed their votes from Democrats to Republicans when they cast early ballots last week. This is the second West Virginia county where voters have reported this problem. Last week, three voters in Jackson County told The Charleston Gazette their electronic vote for “Barack Obama” kept flipping to “John McCain”.

In both counties, Republicans are responsible for overseeing elections. Both county clerks said the problem is isolated. They also blamed voters for not being more careful.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell has officially announced his endorsement for Democratic presidential nominee, Barack Obama - a move that will make a lot of undecided and Republican voters alike hop on the Obama train. Why? Because Colin Powell is Republican!

“I think we need a transformational figure. I think we need a president who is a generational change and that’s why I’m supporting Barack Obama, not out of any lack of respect or admiration for Sen. John McCain,” Powell said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Two weeks, folks! Two weeks! Not far away at all…

Governor Sarah Palin (emperor of Alaska) made a damn fool of herself over the weekend on Saturday Night Live. Of course she was going for the “keeping it real” look, but once again … FAILED. She doesn’t get it. We’re laughing AT you, not WITH you!
