Solange Knowles is gearing up to release her third solo release sometime this year and to hold her fans over, via her newly launched blog she’s released a new track that she says won’t be on the new album. The song is called “Under Construction” and is done over a Thievery Corporation instrumental.

In other news, Solange recently announced that she is one of the new faces of Rimmel London, something that’s sure to get her name out there for the release of her album.

Lady Gaga and Beyonce’s eagerly anticipated music video for their mega-hit “Telephone” didn’t premiere Monday as planned (obviously) but LG’s label made up for that by releasing a few never-before-seen shots of Gaga and Beyonce in the video, set to premiere this Thursday (for real this time… hopefully) on E! News at 11:30 PM EST. It will make its online debut one half hour later on Vevo.com.

After the premiere, Gaga will dissect the inspiration behind “Telephone” and explain how she has been able to out-do herself yet again exclusively to Ryan Seacrest. The video will make its online debut at midnight that evening on VEVO.com and LadyGaga.com. Gritty, erotic and wildly fierce, this nine-minute, visually stunning, cinematic masterpiece is helmed by famed music video director Jonas Akerlund. Rich with Gaga’s unique dance stylings, iconic costume design and unworldly hair and make-up, this is far from your typical music video.

Between being a mother and trying her damnedest to take her estranged husband Nas for everything he’s worth, singer Kelis is a pretty busy woman! But that’s not stopping her from putting out new material and making some more money to fund her lavish lifestyle. “Acapella,” the debut single from her forthcoming 5th studio album FleshTone, due in stores May 4th, hit No.1 on the Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs Chart this week; and her label put out a picture of her in the song’s upcoming music video.

In a recent interview with VIBE Magazine, Will.i.am, head of Will.i.am Music Group, the label Kelis’ new album will be released under, said that the singer, popular for her “Milkshake” song back in the early 2000’s, could be as big as his group the Black Eyed Peas.

“Kelis has always been a best kept secret,” says will, who inked the singer/songwriter to his Interscope-distributed label, will.i.am Music Group last December. “The cool people know Kelis. But the majority of people just know ‘Milkshake.’ If Kelis were fashion she would be a girl’s favorite pair of shoes or a coat…high fashion. I would like Kelis to show she’s an international sensation. She can be big. A lot of people think big is being on the radio or that being big is having a show in London, France and sometimes Japan. But that ain’t international…that’s just three countries. The Black Eyed Peas are big; the Black Eyed Peas are international. I think Kelis can be that big. As big as the Peas.”

Will also points out that artists like Kelis usually don’t get their deserved shine because of out-of-control egos that control the hip hop industry. “A lot of time rappers have these labels and they don’t let their artist become bigger than them,” he says. “I’ve proven that’s not me. Fergie is huge. When Fergie blew up she was bigger than me! I believe Kelis can do the same.”

FleshTone, Kelis’ first album in nearly four years, will be launched alongside a promotional tour that is set to kick off at the Winter Music Conference in Miami later this month. Additional details will be announced shortly.

Hundreds of top music industry suits paid up to $1,000 each to hear Reid speak at the Billboard 2010 Music & Money Symposium at the St. Regis last week. But hours before the talk, delegates were told that his son was in the hospital with a head injury and needed surgery. Reid has four sons, from 6 to 29 years old, as well as a daughter, 8.

However, sources contradict that story about his son being in the hospital, saying that it is false and Reid didn’t want to speak at the Billboard event because he didn’t want to face inquiries about his uncertain post at Def Jam. Apparently, the folks at the label were very disappointed in the sales figures for Rihanna and Mariah Carey’s latest albums and want him out.

“There was speculation among other music executives that this was not entirely the truth. Reid didn’t want to answer questions about his future with Island Def Jam,” a source said. “The move left organizers panicked with no speaker with just hours to go. Vevo CEO Rio Caraeff agreed to stand in.”

One of Reid’s friends reached out to the NY Post and told them that he had to cancel because he was called away on family business; not because his son was ill. They also added that he “isn’t going anywhere” and plans to sign Jennifer Lopez soon…

According to a popular Inquirer Sports Columnist, basketball player Allen Iverson “needs more than a prayer.” Citing his alcohol problems and issues with gambling, sports writer and TV personality Stephen A. Smith gave a pretty detailed account on what’s really going on in AI’s troubled life:

Allen Iverson is in trouble, folks, deep trouble. The combination of alcohol and gambling – and a once-promising career in tatters because of the first two – won’t culminate in anything short of disaster if help does not arrive in short order. If numerous NBA sources are telling the truth – and there’s no reason to believe they’d do otherwise in a situation of this magnitude – Iverson will either drink himself into oblivion or gamble his life away. Moore, ever the protector, would never admit as much, of course. But that’s part of the problem, isn’t it?

Iverson’s wife, Tawanna, having hired some high-powered Atlanta attorney and filed for a divorce last week, does not help matters. Nor does it help that she’s already separated from her husband, with custody of their five kids and seeking both alimony and child support. When you consider Iverson’s well-known penchant for alcohol and his banishment from casinos in Detroit and Atlantic City, if disgust and sadness don’t come to mind, at least one question does: Where is Pat Croce when you need him? Or Iverson’s coach at Georgetown, John Thompson?

Radio shock jock Howard Stern is running his mouth again… Going against the grain (as usual), the Sirius XM radio show host had a lot to say about young actress Gabourey Sidibe (star of the Oscar award-winning movie “Precious”), calling her “enormous” and saying she’s too fat to have a career in Hollywood.

“There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen. She is enormous. Everyone’s pretending she’s a part of show business and she’s never going to be in another movie,” Stern said. “She should have gotten the Best Actress award because she’s never going to have another shot. What movie is she gonna be in?”

“‘Blind Side 2,’” Stern suggested. “She could be the football player, take out the whole front line.” Stern, on the air with his co-host Robin Quivers, also played the speech given by Oprah Winfrey to Sidibe at the Oscars on the program. The hosts said Oprah was lying to her by saying she’s going to have a career in Hollywood. “Come on, be honest with the girl,” Stern said. “Look in that room. Who else do you look like? Those are the people that work all the time,” Quivers agreed.

Actor Corey Haim, a former teen idol who played in 1980s classics “The Lost Boys,” “Lucas” and “License to Drive,” died early Wednesday morning (Mar 10) in Burbank, CA of an apparent accidental drug overdose . His mother reportedly found him unconscious in her apartment early this morning and phoned emergency responders.

Various sources are reporting that four prescription drug bottles were found nearby, and Haim had been having flu-like symptoms in recent days. Coroner Lt. Cheryl MacWillie told reporters that he died at about 2:15 at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. An autopsy will will be performed soon to determine the cause of death.

Actress/singer Hilary Duff can now add “children’s author” to her resume as news was announced today that she has signed a multi-book deal with Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. AP says the publishing company will work alongside the actress on a series of young adult novels that starts with “Elixir,” to be published in October of this year. Her first novel will feature the worldwide adventures of photojournalist Clea Raymond.

The 20-year-old star also plans to write a non-fiction book about children coping with divorce, scheduled for release sometime 2012. Duff has written about her own parents’ separation in the songs “Stranger” and “Gypsy Woman.”

Speaking on her recent engagement to hockey player Matt Comrie, Hilary’s older sister Haylie said:

“She was completely surprised,” she said. “I don’t think that happens all the time. I think most of the time people figure it out or have some idea that it’s going to happen, and I think it’s great he was able to do a surprise like that for her.”

Singers Sean Kingston and Justin Bieber have teamed up for a new song called “Eenie Meenie,” which according to People, was co-written by Sean and will be featured on both Sean and Justin’s upcoming albums. Justin’s new album My World 2.0 drops week after next (Tue. Mar 23).

After meeting last year at a radio show, Bieber, 16, and Kingston, 20, became close friends. “I’m kind of like his big brother,” says Kingston, who spent last weekend celebrating his pal’s birthday in L.A. The pair share a love of sneakers, cars, X-Box games – and, of course, making music. “Eenie Meenie,” in fact, is just the beginning of their collaborations. “We’re starting a writing team together,” Kingston reveals.

Pull out your “Free Wayne” or “Free Weezy” tees because after many a delay, rapper Lil Wayne is behind bars (for real this time). For the third time in just one month, Weezy made his way to a New York City courthouse for his hearing on his 1-year jail term for having a loaded gun on his tour bus.

AP says Wayne (real name: Dwayne Carter) gave a brief bow to fans/supporters as he was arrested and led out of the NYC courtroom in handcuffs to begin serving his year-long sentence Monday (Mar 8). He was arrested back in July 2007 after cops found a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his bus. He pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him in October.

Reports say the 27-year-old rapper chose not to speak at his sentencing yesterday when he turned himself in. With good behavior, he’ll only serve 8 months out of the year, and he will be held in protective custody (outside of the general pop.) at Rikers Island prison.

The Grammy winner — who has made upwards of $50 million a tour — was mobbed on his way into Manhattan Supreme Court by hundreds of reporters and cellphone-waving fans, and serenaded up the con crete steps by shouts of, “Weezy! We love you!” “Yo, keep your head up, Weezy!” one fan shouted from a back row of the courtroom as the cuffs went on. Lil Wayne — nickname “Weezy,” real name Dwayne Carter, age 27 — will continue making music in jail, said his lawyer, Stacey Richman. “He’s an unstoppable musician and creator,” she said.

This date has been a longtime coming for Wayne. The first time he was scheduled to appear in court, his attorney got the judge to postpone it a few weeks so that he could have dental surgery before he went into the slammer. The second time he was scheduled to turn himself in, a fire broke out at the courthouse just hours before he was to arrive.

Pop superstar Lady Gaga took to the stage at the Birmingham LG Arena in Birmingham, England Friday night (Mar 5) during the final leg of her first segment of UK shows of her “Monster Ball” tour. Has a Hollywood female finally managed to tame Jamie Foxx??? Quite possibly!

Actor/singer/comedian Jamie Foxx’s Oscar after-party date was none other than the beautiful Stacey Dash! Now if you are a big Jamie Foxx fan, you probably know that he has made it very clear that he has no plans to ever get married for several reasons and no one has really ever seen him actually dating any chick exclusively in over 10 years. But he has a 16-year-old daughter and allegedly another child (thanks for the tip Garcelle Beauvais!), so he’s getting it in with SOMEBODY.

So what was the deal last night? Sources say the the pair are very good friends and have been sharing time together occasionally over the past few months. They met on the set of Jamie’s Sirius XM radio show, “The Foxxhole,” where she announced her divorce recently. The rumor going around is that they’re “dating,” but not exclusively. We personally think that this is a good look for the both of them. They are close in age and Stacey is definitely sexy enough to keep Jamie’s attention. She’s always had ours!

Now that all the girls from the Pussycat Dolls have left the group (with the exception of Nicole Scherzinger), they’re each going to take a stab at having a successful solo career. The first former Doll to crack the scene is Kimberly Wyatt. A new track, titled “Candy,” from Aggro Santos has surfaced and it features vocals from Kimberly. The song is a dance track that we can see being played at the club a lot. Now the only thing that’s left is to see if it garners enough buzz to keep her going.

She’s a singer, actress, fashion designer/business woman and now she owns a school in Brooklyn, New York! On Friday (Mar 5), Beyonce and her mom Tina Knowles spoke at Phoenix House, a nonprofit recovery center for drug and alcohol addiction, to unveil the Beyonce Cosmetology Center.

The press release states that the program is “a seven-month cosmetology training course for adult men and women.” All of the products to be used at the center have been donated by L’Oreal, and Beyonce and Tina have made a commitment to donate $100,000 every year.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was also in attendance and spoke before Beyonce took to the podium.

While Phoenix House provides varied vocational training, “I felt like they needed something that was geared towards women — something that would teach them skills that would give them hope even after the Phoenix House,” Beyoncé explained about why she chose to fund a beauty school. Her mother also owned and operated a salon in Knowles’ hometown of Houston.

“I saw that a salon was a place for women to socialize, share stories, cry, laugh and get advice,” she continued about her experiences growing up around a beauty parlor. She was close to tears as she added, “Most importantly, I saw the joy it brought my mother, knowing she was a part of their transformation.”

Angie Stone, come get your baby daddy!

R&B singer D’Angelo was busted by an undercover police officer acting as a prostitute after he allegedly offered her $40 for a blow-job in New York City Saturday night (Mar 6).

The 36-year-old D’Angelo (aka Michael Eugene Archer) was driving around Greenwich Village in his Range Rover when he spotted the woman, pulled over and offered her $40 for sex, according to the NYPD. Instead, he wound up booked on a count of patronizing a prostitute in the third degree, according to the Manhattan district attorney. He was released on his own recognizance. D’Angelo is maintaining his innocence and has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

“We know there is a lot of speculation in regard to the arrest of D’Angelo in New York City this past weekend,” his manager,  Lindsay Guion, said in a statement, adding that the singer “is contesting the allegations made against him…D’Angelo would like to personally thank all of his fans for the outpouring of concern, and appreciates if all would allow the American justice system to resolve the matter before jumping to any conclusions.”

Not even a good week after news broke that Waka Flocka Flame had been involved in an altercation involving guns/shooting at a clothing store in Atlanta comes information about a concert shooting and you guessed it … Waka Flocka’s name is attached to it! In fact, this “concert shooting” happened exactly one day after the shooting in Atlanta (wow…)

Several teens were shot Friday night (Mar 5) following a concert headlined by the rapper at a skating rink in Gary, Indiana. Reports indicate that gunmen opened fire on about 200 teens who were waiting on their rides outside the venue. 8 teenage boys, aged 14 to 18, suffered non-life-threatening injuries according to police.

Gary Police Cpl. Gabrielle King said Saturday “all chaos broke loose” when a fight erupted during the event. Security workers ordered attendees to leave the rink at 4415 W. 5th Ave. As of Saturday night, no arrests had been made.

“All the kids scattered and got as low as they possibly could,” said Sisson, who also serves as the head security guard for the business. “Our kids are kids. They’re teenagers that came to a venue and saw a rapper perform and then went home. As far as I’m concerned, my kids have nothing to do with what was going on.”

Police say a hype man who came out before Flocka pitted the “East Side” vs. the “West Side” and may have caused the shooting incident outside the skating rink.

Pop singer Rihanna took to the stage last Thursday night (Mar 4) at the 2010 Echo Awards at Messe Berlin in Germany, and performed her latest single “Rude Boy,” complete with sick lighting effects and big animatronic robots, which definitely added a bit of value to her performance.

She also walked the red carpet of the event in a futuristic Alexandre Vauthier bottle green jumpsuit, which, according to reports, comes from the designer’s Spring 2010 Haute Couture collection. The Bajan beauty paired the dress with nude Christian Louboutin pumps.
