Pastor and gospel singer Marvin Winans — who eulogized Whitney Houston at her New Jersey funeral back in February — was reportedly robbed and car-jacked Wednesday afternoon (May 16) at a Citgo gas station on the west side of Detroit.

Pastor Winans says he felt something was wrong when he came out of the gas station’s convenience store and he noticed several men following him.

He says as he was pumping gas, at least two of them men ambushed him, and took his purple Infiniti SUV, a couple hundred dollars in cash, and his watch. In addition to robbing him, the men punched him and even ripped off his pants.

“I’m just saddened that it has come to this,” Pastor Winans said, adding that he was not seriously injured.

He continued, “This kind of nonsense just has to stop … It’s just the savageness of what’s happening in the streets. We just have to take a look at ourselves and say this has to stop.”

Following the incident, Pastor Winans suffered minor injuries to his hand, which was bandaged as he spoke to local ABC news affiliate WXYZ in an interview later that night.

Of his injuries, Winans said, “Given the gravity of the situation, it was minor.”

Winans said he was disturbed that something like this could happen “in the middle of the afternoon,” and at first, “nobody came to help.”

Pastor Winans, who leads the 4,500-member Perfecting Church on Detroit’s east side, believes his attackers didn’t recognize him, “and if they did, it didn’t make much difference,” he said.

In a message to his carjackers — who still haven’t been identified — Pastor Winans said, “Your life has to be bigger than sitting in a gas station and robbing innocent people.”

According to Newsweek Magazine, President Barack Obama is our country’s “First Gay President.”

The cover, which shows Obama adorned with a rainbow halo above his head, follows the president’s declaration last week that he is personally in favor of gay marriage.

Written by longtime Obama fan and gay political writer Andrew Sullivan, the cover article (and its attention-grabbing headline) isn’t an Obama diss, but a throwback to an article written by Toni Morrison in 1998 that called Bill Clinton our country’s “First Black President.”

Sullivan’s article isn’t available online yet, but he did write an emotional blog post last week in response to Obama’s announcement for his support of same-sex marriage:

I do not know how orchestrated this was; and I do not know how calculated it is. What I know is that, absorbing the news, I was uncharacteristically at a loss for words for a while, didn’t know what to write, and, like many Dish readers, there are tears in my eyes.

So let me simply say: I think of all the gay kids out there who now know they have their president on their side. I think of Maurice Sendak, who just died, whose decades-long relationship was never given the respect it deserved.

I think of the centuries and decades in which gay people found it impossible to believe that marriage and inclusion in their own families was possible for them, so crushed were they by the weight of social and religious pressure.

I think of all those in the plague years shut out of hospital rooms, thrown out of apartments, written out of wills, treated like human garbage because they loved another human being.

I think of Frank Kameny. I think of the gay parents who now feel their president is behind their sacrifices and their love for their children.

The interview changes no laws; it has no tangible effect. But it reaffirms for me the integrity of this man we are immensely lucky to have in the White House.

Obama’s journey on this has been like that of many other Americans, when faced with the actual reality of gay lives and gay relationships. Yes, there was politics in a lot of it. But not all of it.

I was in the room long before the 2008 primaries when Obama spoke to the mother of a gay son about marriage equality. He said he was for equality, but not marriage.

Five years later, he sees–as we all see–that you cannot have one without the other. But even then, you knew he saw that woman’s son as his equal as a citizen. It was a moment–way off the record at the time–that clinched my support for him.

Today Obama did more than make a logical step. He let go of fear. He is clearly prepared to let the political chips fall as they may. That’s why we elected him.

When asked if the president had any thoughts about the cover Monday morning (May 14), White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said, “I don’t know if he’s seen it and I haven’t spoken to him about it.”

Meanwhile, President Obama will reportedly tape an appearance on ABC’s “The View” Monday, where he is expected to speak further about his support for gay marriage. The interview is scheduled to air on Tuesday morning’s episode.

After three days of deliberations, on Friday (May 11), a Chicago jury found William Balfour GUILTY of murdering three members of R&B singer Jennifer Hudson‘s family, including her mother, brother and nephew.

Balfour — Hudson’s former brother-in-law — was convicted of 1st degree murder in the tragic shooting deaths of Jennifer’s mother Darnell Donerson, her brother Jason Hudson and her 7-year-old nephew Julian King in October 2008.

Prosecutors described Balfour’s heinous crime as a spiteful act of vengeance from a jilted husband who had previously threatened to kill Julia Hudson (Jennifer’s sister) and her family if she ever left him.

The day before the murders, prosecutors say Balfour became enraged after he saw balloons outside the home that he thought were from Julia’s new boyfriend.

The next day, prosecutors say Balfour went inside the three-story house at around 9 a.m. and used a handgun to kill Hudson’s 57-year-old mother in the living room before he shot her 29-year-old brother twice in the head as he lay in bed.

Balfour allegedly drove off in Jason Hudson’s SUV with Julian inside. Authorities say he eventually shot the 7-year-old boy in the head and fled the car.

In addition to the murder charges, Balfour was also convicted of home invasion and residential burglary.

Jennifer Hudson, who attended every day of testimony, was reportedly overcome with emotion as the guilty verdict was read Friday. Balfour, on othe other hand, showed no emotion, according to AP reports.

Neither Jennifer nor her sister spoke to reporters, but the two released a joint statement after the verdict.

“It is our prayer that the Lord will forgive Mr. Balfour of these heinous acts and bring his heart into repentance someday,” they said in the statement, which also thanked prosecutors for their “dedication and tireless work.”

William Balfour faces a mandatory life prison sentence, and his public defender Amy Thompson — who believes Balfour is innocent — plans to appeal the verdict.

If the bench on the Denver Nuggets looked a little smaller last night, it’s because Chris “Birdman” Andersen was missing.

The Denver Nuggets reserve center has reportedly been “excused indefinitely” from all-team related activities after the Douglas County Sherfiff’s office seized some “property” related to child pornography from his home in Colorado.

As of now, Andersen has not been arrested or charged with any crime, but The Denver Post reports that the “property” was seized early Thursday morning (May 10) and the Sheriff’s office is investigating.

Andersen participated in the Nuggets’ shoot-around Thursday morning, but wasn’t present Thursday night as his team defeated the Los Angeles Lakers at home with a final score of 113 to 96.

A spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office said the unit investigating Andersen investigates child porn, Internet luring and child predators, and the items they typically seize include computers, hard drives and thumb drives. But she wouldn’t go into detail about what exactly was taken from Andersen’s home.

“It could include many different things,” Deborah Sherman told reporters. “Right now we’re not saying. They literally just got the property this morning,” Sherman said. “The sheriff’s office did contact him this morning while he was at his house and he cooperated fully.”

Chris Andersen — who is in his 10th year in the NBA and his seventh season in Denver — has been under investigation for unknown Internet crimes against children since February of this year, when the Douglas County sheriff’s office first received a tip from California authorities that child porn was either exchanged or downloaded using a computer inside Andersen’s home.

Andersen has somewhat of a history of helping out children’s charities during time in Denver and New Orleans, where he played from 2004 – 2006 until he was suspended from the league for drug abuse. After being re-instated into the NBA, he started back playing for the Nuggets, who originally drafted him in 2001.

According to the Denver Nuggets’ media guide, Andersen has helped raise money for Mount Saint Vincent, a home for troubled and abused children, and was also honored at the home’s 2009 Silver Bell Ball. He has also had involvement with Alliance for Choice in Education, which provides scholarships for low-income families to use in private schools.

Mark Bryant, Andersen’s longtime lawyer and confidant, released a statement to The Denver Post calling the Nuggets player an “outstanding member of [the Denver] community.”

“I believe in Chris. I would ask the citizens of Colorado to give Chris his due,” Bryant said. “Like every one of us, he is presumed innocent. At the end of the day, I am confident it will be shown that he did nothing wrong.”

Time Magazine thought it would be pretty cool to put a picture of a real, 3-year-old boy standing on a chair with his mom’s boob in his mouth on the cover of their nationally syndicated magazine for an issue on “attachment parenting.”

So they did it … and here it is!

The subjects on this week’s TIME cover aren’t models in pose. Jamie Lynne Grumet, photographed by Martin Schoeller with her 3-year-old son, is a mother from Los Angeles who subscribes to attachment parenting, the subject of staff writer Kate Pickert’s cover story.

Attachment parenting has been on the rise over the past two decades, since the publication of “The Baby Book” by Dr. William “Bill” Sears and his wife Martha in 1992. Its three main tenets are extended breast-feeding, co-sleeping and “baby wearing,” in which infants are physically attached to their parents by slings.

Martin Schoeller says he spent an entire day photographing four different women from various parts of the country who practice this odd method of motherhood.

“When you think of breast-feeding, you think of mothers holding their children, which was impossible with some of these older kids,” Schoeller explained. “I liked the idea of having the kids standing up to underline the point that this was an uncommon situation.”

Jamie Grumet from Los Angeles says she isn’t ashamed that she still breastfeeds her 3-year-old son, who will turn four next month and will still continue to be breastfed. “I don’t consider breast-feeding immodest at all. I’m not shy about doing it in public.”

Jamie also has a 5-year-old (adopted) son of a different race who she breastfeeds as well. “I know so many amazing women who have induced their lactation, but I had milk [from feeding my biological son], so I had one of the easier situations as far as adoptive breast-feeding is concerned,” she said, “but it was considered extended breast-feeding. And it was transracial. And he was adopted. I was ready for attack as soon as I posted one of the pictures [on my blog].”

Grumet says she and her sister — who also practices attachment parenting — were breastfed up until she was six years old, and she still remembers how she felt when she drank milk from her mother’s teet over 2 decades ago.

“It’s really warm,” she recalled. “It’s like embracing your mother, like a hug. You feel comforted, nurtured and really, really loved. I had so much self-confidence as a child, and I know it’s from that. I never felt like she would ever leave me. I felt that security.”

She said, “I grew up this way and never thought about raising my kids differently.”

Dionna Ford, who lives in Kansas City, Missouri, says when she was pregnant, she watched a video of a British woman breast-feeding her 7-year-old daughter, and she thought she could never do the same … until she found out how hard it was to wean her son off breast milk.

“After six months, I decided I’d wait until he turned 1,” she said. “But after my baby turned a year old, he was still a baby — not talking, barely walking — and I wondered why I’d stop now.”

Dionna’s son is now 4-years-old and she not only breastfeeds him, but she also breastfeeds her 5-month-old son.

For Brooklyn, New York native Jessica Cary — who still breastfeeds her 3-year-old daughter — she says attachment parenting is a way of life. “I don’t think about when I’ll stop. For us, it’s a life philosophy.”

Not only capturing photographs of attached parents, but also their reasons for attachment parenting, was Schoeller’s biggest goal for this very … “interesting” photo shoot.

“It was important to show that there’s no stereotypical look for a mom who practices this kind of parenting,” he said.

What are your thoughts on this whole “attachment parenting” thing? Are these women out of their minds or what?

During an exclusive interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts Wednesday afternoon (May 9), President Barack Obama came out of nowhere and announced that he personally endorses the legalization of same-sex marriage.

President Obama said in an interview that appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Thursday:

“I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors, when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together … When I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.“

The president also discussed how his young daughters Sasha and Malia, and the younger generation as a whole, played a role in forming his opinion:

“It’s interesting, some of this is also generational … You know when I go to college campuses, sometimes I talk to college Republicans who think that I have terrible policies on the economy, on foreign policy, but are very clear that when it comes to same-sex equality or, you know, sexual orientation, that they believe in equality. They are much more comfortable with it.

“Malia and Sasha, they have friends whose parents are same-sex couples. There have been times where Michelle and I have been sitting around the dinner table and we’re talking about their friends and their parents and Malia and Sasha, it wouldn’t dawn on them that somehow their friends’ parents would be treated differently. It doesn’t make sense to them and, frankly, that’s the kind of thing that prompts a change in perspective.”

President Obama also talked about how his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, and his Christian faith were also instrumental in his opinion on the issue:

“This is something that we’ve talked about over the years and she feels the same way, she feels the same way that I do. And that is that, in the end the values that I care most deeply about and she cares most deeply about is how we treat other people.

“And we are both practicing Christians and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others but, you know, when we think about our faith, the thing at root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing himself on our behalf, but it’s also the Golden Rule, treat others the way you would want to be treated.

“And I think that’s what we try to impart to our kids and that’s what motivates me as president and I figure the most consistent I can be in being true to those precepts, the better I’ll be as a as a dad and a husband and, hopefully, the better I’ll be as president.”

As ABC writer Rick Klein notes, President Obama’s public support of gay marriage is a “complete turnabout,” as he has opposed marriage between same-sex couples throughout his career in politics.

In 1996, as a state Senate candidate, he indicated support for gay marriage in a questionnaire, but Obama aides later disavowed it and said it did not reflect the candidate’s position.

In 2004, as a candidate for the US Senate, he cited his own religion in framing his views: “I’m a Christian. I do believe that tradition and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.”

He maintained that position through his 2008 presidential campaign, and through his term as president, until today (May 9th 2012).

As president in 2010, Obama told ABC’s Jake Tapper that his feelings about gay marriage were “constantly evolving. I struggle with this.” A year later, the president told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, “I’m still working on it.”

“I probably won’t make news right now, George,” Obama said in October 2011. “But I think that there’s no doubt that as I see friends, families, children of gay couples who are thriving, you know, that has an impact on how I think about these issues.”

What do you do when you want to make your name sound cooler? You change it to “Tyrannosaurus Rex,” that’s what.

An eccentric 23-year-old self-proclaimed entrepreneur from Nebraska walked into a York County District Court this week as Tyler Gold, and left the building as Tyrannosaurus Rex Joseph Gold.

He told the judge he chose that particular name — which, FYI, in Greek means “tyrant lizard king” and is usually used to identify a large dinosaur — because it sounds “cooler” than his boring old birth name “Tyler.”

And not only that … but as an entrepreneur, he believes the new moniker is “more recognizable.”

The York News Times in York, Nebraska reported:

In Gold’s official filing with the court, he said he wanted to change his name “because the (T-Rex designation) is cooler. Also, as an entrepreneur, name recognition is important and the new name is more recognizable.” He verbally repeated his reasoning during the court proceedings, while on the witness stand.

Judge Gless asked Gold if he wanted to change his name because he was hiding from creditors or law enforcement. Gold said none of those factors were involved in his request.

Gless noted that Gold had gone through all the proper channels of changing his name, which included formal filing with the court and notice publication.

At the end of Monday’s hearing, Gold’s name was officially changed to Tyrannosaurus Rex Joseph Gold.

So let’s get this straight. This guy changed his legal name to Tyrannosaurus Rex to stand out in the business world … which totally makes sense, because changing your name to Tyrannosaurus Rex will definitely make people take you more seriously.

Not.

A first grader from Colorado was suspended from school for three days for sexual harassment after he sang the lyrics of LMFAO‘s hit single “Sexy And I Know It” to a female classmate.

6-year-old D’Avonte Meadows, a special needs student at an elementary school in Aurora, CO, reportedly told the female student, “I’m sexy and I know it” while the two were waiting in the lunch line.

“I could understand if he was fondling her, looking up her skirt, trying to look in her shirt. That, to me, is sexual harassment,” said Stephanie Meadows, D’Avonte’s mother. “I’m just, I’m floored. They’re going to look at him like he’s a pervert. And it’s like, that’s not fair to him.”

This isn’t D’Avonte’s first time getting in trouble for using the lyric. According to his mother, he was disciplined last month when he quoted the same line from the same song to the same girl, and “shook his booty” in the girl’s face.

Ms. Meadows says after the first incident, her son met with the school’s assistant principal, and he was told not to shake anything in the girl’s face again.

“I’m going to definitely have to sit with him and see if he understands exactly what the song means,” Meadows said.

Meadows also said D’Avonte was also suspended earlier this year for disruptive behavior, not sexual harassment.

“I think it’s kind of overwhelming. You know, sexual harassment on a 6-year-old?” Meadows said. “I don’t understand. You know, kids are kids.”

Ms. Meadows is right; kids are kids.

You can’t blame a 6-year-old. Blame LMFAO for their ridiculously infectious music.

On a show of hands, how many of you say (or think) “I’m Sexy And I Know It” at least once a week, and/or you can’t get the “Party Rock Anthem” beat of your head.

French lawmakers recently repealed France’s law against sexual harassment in the workplace, claiming that the definition of the crime was too vague.

When France’s first sexual harassment law was implemented back in 1992, it was originally defined as a person abusing their position of power and authority in an effort to receive sexual favors.

The law was revised in 2002 to broaden the definition to include anyone pressuring any person to perform sex acts in exchange for favors.

According to Reuters, the repeal of the law doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be a new law to replace the old one, but French women will have to wait until the new Parliament goes into office this June before any new law with clearer guidelines can even be discussed.

Some women’s groups said the decision, by France’s highest constitutional body, would leave victims without legal protection until a new law is penned, while others argued an improved law could lead to more convictions. [Source]

So that means for the next few months, if not longer, it’s totally legal to sexually harass someone in France, which is really bad news for women of the workplace … but good news for their perverted bosses. At least until the new law is drafted up, and put into practice, whenever French lawmakers “get around to it.”

Patricia Krentcil Appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America"

An excessively tanned woman from New Jersey is facing child endangerment charges after she allegedly took her 5-year-old daughter to a tanning booth, and allowed the little girl to get a tan.

44-year-old Patricia Krentcil — known as the “tanning mom” — was arrested after her daughter allegedly suffered burns at a tanning salon.

She denies the child endangerment charges, but if convicted, she could face up to 10 years behind bars, where the only tanning she will get is from the prison yard.

According to ABC News, child protective services in New Jersey intervened after a tip from the nurse at Patricia’s daughter Anna‘s school who noticed she had a rash. The little girl said that she had been burned after going tanning with her mother.

But Patricia says that Anna was sunburned from a day spent gardening, and not from a tanning bed.

Her husband Richard Krentcil also said that Anna never entered a tanning bed, and media reports saying so are not true.

“They wrote the story saying Patricia took her into the tanning booth, [that] they were tanning together,” he said. “Totally false.”

The owner of City Tropics tanning salon in Nutley, NJ here Patricia regularly gets her tanning fix says she pays a flat fee of about $100 per month for “unlimited” tanning sessions, and she tans for about 12 minutes, 5 days a week. Every week. (That’s 20 times a month!)

New York dermatologist Joshua Zeichner explained the situation and Patrica’s addiction — known as “tanorexia” — to the New York Daily News:

“Going to a tanning salon 20 times a month, frankly, is insane, especially with all of the public education and awareness campaigns on the dangers of tanning beds and skin cancers. It may be she has an addiction to tanning, which actually now has a name — tanorexia. She may need help to treat not only the damage to her skin, but also what is going on with her psychologically.”

Another New York dermatologist, Dr. Doris Day, had this to say about Patricia:

“When you look at this, this is somebody who has a problem who most likely has a condition called ‘tanorexia,’ where they just don’t realize just how much color they have. She’s at higher risk for skin cancer, and it also doesn’t send the right message to her child.”

Patricia doesn’t believe she’s addicted to tanning, but most addicts don’t believe they ever have a problem.

Her attorney John. D. Caruso doesn’t think she’s addicted to tanning either.

“Obviously, she tans,” Caruso said. “To call her an addict, I think is a real leap. It feels like it’s being exaggerated, to be like, ‘Well look at her, she must have done this.’”

So going to a tanning salon 20 times a month (over 200 times yearly) is not addictive behavior? Okay … Whatever.

A version of Edvard Munch‘s world-famous masterpiece “The Scream” broke a world record this week, becoming the world’s most expensive piece of artwork to be sold in an auction.

Five bidders completed for the art piece, which was eventually sold to a bidder for $119,922,500 over the telephone.

That’s almost One Hundred and Twenty MILLION Dollars … for a picture!

Now granted, it is one of world’s the most recognizable images, next to Leonardo Da Vinci‘s “Mona Lisa” … but WOW, that’s a hell of a lot of money!

There are only four official versions of “The Scream,” three of which are now in Norwegian museums.

The version of the picture that was sold on Wedensday (Apr 2) — created in 1895, and is technically not a “painting,” but pastel on a board — is the only one in private hands.

But really? $120 million for a picture?!? You can buy at least 2 or 3 Neverland Ranches with that kinda money!

Tyler Perry‘s massive studio complex in Atlanta caught on fire Tuesday night (May 1).

Officials say over it took over 100 firefighters and at least 20 trucks to combat the fire, which they say started a little after 8:30 pm. They say it took workers over 3 hours to get the blazes under control.

According to local reports, several eyewitnesses say they heard a huge explosion before the fire broke out.

Thankfully, there were zero reports of injuries, despite the fact parts of the building collapsed as a result of the damage caused by the fire.

According to the studio’s website, the 200,000 square-foot facility — located in southwest Atlanta — includes five sound stages, a post-production facility, a back lot, a 400-seat theater, a private screening room, and designated areas for entertaining and hosting events.

The studio also just hosted a fundraiser for Barack Obama’s re-election campaign back in March.

Tyler Perry thanked Atlanta firefighters in the following statement released Wednesday (May 2):

“Atlanta firefighters responded immediately to a fire which damaged the backlot façade of one of the buildings at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. We are grateful that there were no injuries, and that 99 percent of the damage is limited to the backlot facade. Mr. Perry wishes to express his heartfelt thanks to the Atlanta fire department for their professionalism in their quick response and limiting the damage.”

As of right now, the cause of the fire is not yet known … and the amount of damage has yet to be determined.

It’s finally here! After much anticipation, the brand new logo for the Brooklyn Nets (formerly the New Jersey Nets) was officially unveiled Monday (Apr 30).

The team’s primary logo — which was designed by part-owner and Hip-Hop titan Jay-Z — is a blacked-out shield with the word “NETS” above a basketball with a “B” inside. It’s basically, an updated more modern version of the original New Jersey logo.

The secondary logo — which is simply the “B” basketball, surrounded by the words “Brooklyn New York” in a circle — will be at center court at the Barclays Center, the team’s new home. It will also appear on the players’ basketball shorts.

Black and white are the new primary team colors, which is a huge change from the original red, white and blue colors that date back to when the Net were known as the New Jersey Americans.

“Hello, Brooklyn! I’ve been waiting a long time to say that,” center Brook Lopez said at the formal logo unveiling at the Modell’s Sporting Goods store right across the street from the Barclays Center.

Brooklyn Nets CEO Brett Yormark calls the new logo “the new badge of Brooklyn.”

“We’ve been waiting a long time for this,” he said. “The Brooklyn Nets are finally part of the conversation.

Jay-Z released the following statement regarding the new logos that he designed:

“The Brooklyn Nets logos are another step we’ve made to usher the organization into a new era. The boldness of the designs demonstrate the confidence we have in our new direction.

“Along with our move to Brooklyn and a state-of-the-art arena, the new colors and logos are examples of our commitment to update and refine all aspects of the team.”

The Brooklyn Nets — the only NBA team with a black/white color scheme — will unveil their new uniforms sometime in the fall right before the 2012-13 NBA season kicks off.

After years and years of construction, One World Trade Center officially surpassed the 1,250-foot Empire State Building Monday (Apr 30) as the tallest structure in New York City.

The $3.9 billion construction project began six years ago, and it stands on the site of the original World Trade Centers — aka the “Twin Towers” — that were the tallest buildings in the city (and among the tallest worldwide) before they were destroyed in the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks.

When construction on OWTC is complete, the final height of the building will be 1,368 feet, with the antenna spire pushing the structure to a towering height of 1,776 feet, making it over 400 feet taller than the twin towers it has replaced.

According to the New York Daily News, once completed, the Ground Zero skyscraper — nicknamed the “Freedom Tower” — will also boast 104 floors, including 71 floors with 3 million square feet of office space.

This is what the completed One World Trade Center will look like in 2013/2014.

The 1,776 foot height will also make the tower the third-tallest building in the world, and the largest building in the United States, surpassing Chicago’s 1,451-foot Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower).

The Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai, which stands at a height of nearly 3,000 feet, is currently the world’s tallest building.

Even though construction will not be complete on One World Trade Center until late 2013 or early 2014, the Port Authority says over half of the office space has been filled.

“It’s wonderful,” Mayor Bloomberg said Sunday. “It’s taken a long time. This is probably the most complex construction site in any place ever. I think what we’ve shown is that democracy works.”

Even though only four more floors are left to be built, Mayor Bloomberg says the finishing touches will take years, due to workers making sure the building is being safely constructed.

“Incidentally, once this building tops out, there’s still a lot of work before people can move in, a couple of years,” Bloomberg said. “The most important thing is that they get the building up safely. We don’t need any more lives lost. So far, their safety record has been exemplary.”

President Barack Obama is a fan of Young Jeezy. During his speech at the 2012 White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday night (Apr 28), the Prez gave a special shout-out to the Snowman:

“In my first term I sang Al Green. In my second term, I’m going with Young Jeezy. I sing that to her sometimes.” He said referring to the first-lady.

Back in 2008, Jeezy showed his support for Obama with his single “My President (is Black)” off his critically acclaimed album “The Recession.”

After catching wind of the President’s acknowledgment, Jeezy tweeted the following:

Ever heard of the “sunlight” diet? It’s all natural, and totally free … but apparently there’s one major side effect. Death.

A woman from Switzerland learned that the hard way after she reportedly starved to death after going on a so-called spiritual diet that required her to stop eating or drinking, and instead, living off sunlight alone.

Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger reported Wednesday that the unnamed Swiss woman, who was in her fifties, chose to adopt the sunlight only diet after she watched an Austrian documentary in 2010 about an Indian guru who claims to have lived off nothing but sunlight for 70 years.

According to Tages-Anzeiger, the woman stopped eating and drinking for a week straight (and even spat out her own saliva) while consuming only sunlight and air.

She stopped her sunlight only diet at the urging of her children, but eventually resumed, and was found dead at her home in January 2011.

An autopsy showed that the woman simply died of starvation, and no other factors contributed to her death.

Tages-Anzeiger says there have been similar cases of folks dying after starving themselves with this radical sunlight-only diet in Germany, Britain and Australia … which proves that no human being can simply live off air and sunlight alone.

The infamous Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas almost claimed the life of another customer.

A Las Vegas woman in her 40′s reportedly collapsed at the Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas as she was eating a double bypass burger.

Though the burger itself can’t take all the blame, because she was also smoking cigarettes AND drinking a margarita too. (Multitasking at it’s finest!)

The restaurant’s owner Jon Basso told ABC News that the woman was found unconscious at the restaurant Saturday night (Apr 21) and had to be resuscitated by paramedics.

The woman, whose name wasn’t released, is said to be recovering from the incident.

The Heart Attack Grill made headlines back in February after a man in his 40′s’ suffered an actual heart attack after he wolfed down a Triple Bypass Burger, which is a step down from the much larger, 2-pound, award-winning Quadruple Bypass Burger.

“The gentleman could barely talk,” owner Jon Basso told reporters at the time. “He was sweating, suffering. Anyone with an ounce of compassion would’ve felt for him.”

Incidentally … last year, the Heart Attack Grill’s nearly 600 pound spokesman died at the young age of 29 years old.

Despite the unfortunate events that have taken place, business is still booming at the restaurant, which has signs posted all around that read: “This Establishment is Bad for Your Health.”

The 7-year-old restaurant was also recently awarded the Guiness World Record for “Highest Calorie Hamburger” for its nearly 10,000 calorie “Quadruple Bypass Burger,” which comes stacked with four huge burger patties, four slices of cheese, red onions, tomato, special sauce and up to 20 strips of bacon.

Yummy.

A case of mad cow disease was found in a dairy cow in California, the USDA confirmed Tuesday (Apr 24).

Baker Commodities executive vice president Dennis Luckey told the Associated Press that his workers discovered the disease, also called “ovine spongiform encephalopathy” or “BSE,” after they selected the cow for random sampling.

Luckey said the sample was taken from the dead cow’s carcass on April 18th at a hide-removal site, where dead livestock are held before going to a rendering plant. “This animal happened to be one that we randomly selected,” he said.

The diseased cow’s carcass “was never presented for slaughter for human consumption, so at no time presented a risk to the food supply or human health,” John Clifford from the United States Department of Agriculture said in a statement, according to Bloomberg.

“The USDA remains confident in the health of the national herd and the safety of beef and dairy products,” he said.

According to published reports, this makes the fourth case of mad cow disease discovered since December 2003, and the first since 2006.

Mad cow disease is fatal to cows and can cause a deadly brain disease in humans who eat tainted meat, though officials say the disease can’t be transmitted through milk from dairy animals.

Regardless … it might be time to switch to Soy milk and ground turkey for a little while. Or forever.

Emotions ran high Monday (Apr 23) as Jennifer Hudson bravely took the stand to testify in the murder trial of William Balfour, the man accused of killing her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew nearly 4 years ago in Chicago.

Dressed in all black with her hair pulled back into a ponytail, Hudson — the first witness called after Balfour’s prosecutor and defense attorney’s opening statements — spoke in a quiet voice and was asked by the judge to speak up at one point.

Though Hudson’s sworn statement wasn’t related to the murders, since she wasn’t at the home or even in Chicago at all when they occurred, the former “American Idol” finalist’s testimony included details about her family, and how they didn’t like Balfour and didn’t want her sister Julia Hudson to marry him.

“I would tell Julia over and over again not to marry William,” Hudson said as her voice cracked and she struggled to hold back tears. “None of us wanted her to marry him; myself, my mother, or my brother, we did not like how he treated her and I didn’t like how he treated my nephew.”

When she was asked to identify Balfour, she poked her head around the judge’s bench and pointed right at him. “He’s sitting right there,” she said.

Balfour is accused of shooting and killing Hudson’s mother Darnell Donerson, her brother Jason Hudson and her 7-year-old nephew Julian King on October 24th 2008. Prosecutors believe he acted out of spite after Julia told him that she wanted a divorce.

In her sworn testimony, Hudson recalled the day she found out that her family had been murdered. She said she knew something was wrong when she woke up in Tampa, FL one morning and hadn’t heard from her mother.

“I noticed that — I’m looking to see the text from my mom and it wasn’t any,” she said. “I kept sitting there wondering, like that’s strange. That was the first thing I said, ‘My mom didn’t text me.’”

Hudson says a phone call an hour later from her frantic sister was how she found out her mother and brother had both been murdered, and her young nephew was missing.

“My sister called my fiance’s phone,” she recalled. “I remember it like yesterday, obviously. And he couldn’t understand what she was saying because she was so hysterical and I grabbed the phone from him and that’s when she told me.”

Jennifer said she flew back immediately to Chicago to identify the bodies of her mother and brother at the morgue, and offered a $100,000 reward to help find her nephew.

“We were trying everything, anything we could do to get him back,” she said.

Unfortunately, two days after posting the award, Hudson was asked to return to the morgue to identify Julian’s body, which had been discovered in a vehicle stolen from the Hudson family’s home.

Hudson reportedly struggled to maintain her composure as she remembered happier times with her nephew, saying, “It was always me and my Tugga Bear. That’s what I called him.”

When asked to identify her mother Darnell Donerson in a photo, the Oscar winner answered, “That’s my mommy.”

Hudson’s testimony also offered a little insight into the financial support she provided for her family, particularly after she won the Academy Award for best supporting actress in 2007.

In the months before the murders, Hudson had purchased a computer for her sister, a car for her brother, and she also left her mother several signed checks to pay utility bills.

Prosecutors will likely point to the financial assistance Hudson provided in an effort to dispel a claim from the defense that Jason Hudson (her brother) sold drugs to support the family.

During opening statements, Defense Attorney Amy Thompson suggested to jurors that the killings could have stemmed from alleged drug dealing by Jason Hudson in the crime-ridden South Side neighborhood where they lived.

The defense’s argument is that police pinned the murders on Balfour because they were pressured to make an arrest due to the attention placed on the case.

“As soon as that (that a celebrity was linked to the case) became known, they knew coverage would explode,” Thompson said. “The police were on the hook. They had to find their man and find him fast.”

In addition, there are no known witnesses to the slayings, and it’s not clear what physical evidence (including fingerprints or DNA) exists. During her opening statement, Thompson said DNA found on the gun and fingerprints found in the SUV didn’t match Balfour’s.

The killings happened the day after Julia Hudson’s birthday, she revealed in her testimony. The day before the murders, prosecutors say Balfour became enraged after he saw balloons outside the home that he thought were from Julia’s new boyfriend.

The next day, Prosecutors say Balfour went inside the three-story house at around 9 a.m. and used a handgun to kill Hudson’s 57-year-old mother in the living room before he shot her 29-year-old brother Jason twice in the head as he lay in bed.

Balfour allegedly drove off in Jason Hudson’s SUV with Julian inside. Authorities say he eventually shot the 7-year-old boy in the head and fled the car.

Balfour has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder in the October 2008 slayings. If convicted of at least two of the murder counts, the 30-year-old will face a mandatory life sentence of life in prison.

There’s a dangerous new trend among teens on the rise. According to published reports, as many as six California teenagers were recently hospitalized with alcohol poisoning after they got drunk off hand sanitizer.

What is supposed to be used to clean and disinfect your hands is now being used to in replace of liquor, which is usually hard for teenagers to get, since the legal drinking age in the U.S. is 21.

Hand sanitizer, on the other hand, is available for purchase at just about anywhere, and a bored teenager can actually use it — along with a few simple instructions online — to get drunk.

“A few swallows is all it takes to get a person to get the intoxicated effects of alcohol,” Dr. Cyrus Rangan, medical toxicology consultant for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, said in a news conference on Tuesday (Apr 24). “There is no question that it is dangerous.”

In six totally unrelated incidents in the past month alone, teenagers were rushed to emergency rooms in California with symptoms such as slurred speech and burning sensations in the stomach.

Some teens were reportedly so drunk that they needed to be monitored in the emergency room overnight.

According to ABC News, about 2,600 different cases have been reported in California since 2010, but public health officials say that there are many other cases across the country.

“This is a rapidly emerging trend,” Dr. Rangan said, adding that long-term use could lead to brain, liver and kidney damage.

“It’s not just localized to us,” said Helen Arbogast from the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. “Since 2009 we can see on YouTube it’s in all regions of the country. We see it in the South, in the Midwest, in the East.”

The Los Angeles Times reports that using instructions online, some of the teenagers used salt to separate the alcohol from liquid hand sanitizer, which contains about 62-65 percent ethyl alcohol (or ethanol) the main ingredient in beer, wine and liquor.

The alcohol extracted from household hand sanitizer is 120 proof, in comparison to a bottle of vodka, which is 80 proof.

“Methods to distill it can be found through friends and the Internet, but straight ingestion of the product without distillation is also common,” Dr. Rangan said.

Dr. Sean Nordt, director of toxicology at the USC Los Angeles County Emergency Department said that he hopes parents and store clerks will keep an eye on who they’re selling hand sanitizer to.

“”Most stores will sell it to an adolescent without thinking twice,” Nordt told ABC News. “Maybe now they will.”

This new trend of youngsters drinking hand sanitizer to get drunk is being compared to drinking cough syrup to get a buzz, which is highly celebrated in rap culture.

George Zimmerman — the former neighborhood watch volunteer who was recently charged with second degree murder for shooting and killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin — was released from jail shortly after midnight on Monday morning (Apr 23) after posting $150,000 bond.

Zimmerman, accompanied by an unidentified male, was wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans, and was carrying a paper bag as he walked out of the John E. Polk Correctional Facility. He didn’t make eye contact with photographers and was completely silent as he made his way to his vehicle.

Under the conditions of his bail, which were set by Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. last Friday, Zimmerman must wear an electronic monitoring device equipped with GPS tracking.

Zimmerman is allowed to leave the state, however, no matter where he is, he must observe a dusk-to-dawn curfew. He is also prohibited from consuming alcohol or any illegal drugs, and he has been legally banned from possessing a firearm, for very obvious reasons.

Attorney Daryl Parks, who is representing Trayvon Martin’s parents, said that while the family respects the judicial process that allows Zimmerman to be released from prison … they are still “devastated by him being able to walk the streets.”

“It’s with a very, very heavy heart that they’ve seen him walk freely late last night back into the public,” Parks said on CNN.

George Zimmerman stunned a Florida court during his bond hearing on Friday when he took the stand and offered a personal apology to Trayvon Martin’s parents, who were sitting in the courtroom.

Addressing Martin’s family directly, Zimmerman said, “I am sorry for the loss of your son. I did not know how old he was. I thought he was a little bit younger than I am. I did not know if he was armed or not.”

Benjamin Crump, another lawyer for the Martin family, said that Zimmerman’s apology was not only self-serving … but poorly timed and insincere.

“The apology was somewhat of a surprise because we had told them this was not the appropriate time, but they just disregarded that, and he went and pandered to the court and the media and gave a very insincere apology,” Crump told CNN.

George Zimmerman admitted to murdering Trayvon Martin on the night of February 26th in a gated Sanford, Florida community. He told police he was acting in self-defense under Florida’s “Stand Your Ground Law.”

For his safety, Zimmerman’s current whereabouts are being kept a secret until his next court appearance.

An Egyptian man who was watching porn on the Internet actually recognized the woman in several of the movies he watched. That’s because the woman in question was actually his own wife!

“I found 11 films showing my wife in indecent scenes with her lover. It was the first time I watched a porno film and I did this just out of curiosity,” the man, identified as Ramadan, told Egyptian newspapers.

Ramadan said he couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw his wife having sex with another man in nearly a dozen different porno clips.

When he confronted his wife about it, she initially denied that the woman in the clips was her. But after forcing her to watch some of the clips with him, she couldn’t deny it anymore so she finally fessed up to cheating on him with her ex boyfriend.

To make matters worse, Ramadan’s wife told him that she never loved him anyway, and she she’s still in love with her ex, despite the fact that they have been married for 16 years and have 4 children together. (Ouch!)

“She first denied it and accused me of being insane before I faced her with the films … she then confessed to be still in love with her boyfriend, saying he is as young as her and that I am an old man.”

North Korea went against international warnings and decided to launch a long-rage rocket into the air on Thursday (Apr 12). Or at least they tried to.

U.S. officials say the the rocket broke apart shortly after launch, which means that their rogue mission was a total and complete #FAIL!

Japan was prepared to shoot down any rocket flying over its territory, and officials there say the rocket wasn’t even in the air for a full minute before it fell into the ocean.

“We have confirmed that a certain flying object has been launched and fell after flying for just over a minute,” Japan’s Defense Minister Naoki Tanaka said. He said there was no impact on Japanese territory.

According to the U.S. military, the missile fell into the sea west of South Korea and posed no threat to any landmasses.

International leaders urged North Korea to cancel the launch, but they went ahead with it anyway against everyone’s wishes, insisting that the rocket launch was for peaceful purposes only.

Prior to the launch, U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice said, “The wise thing would be for North Korea to avoid this provocative and ill-considered action, which is in blatant violation of international law and their international obligations.”

Officials in Pyongyang, North Korea said that the rocket was going to be used to simply launch a weather satellite into orbit.

However, officials in the US, South Korea and other countries believe the North Koreans are using this purported “rocket launch” as a cover-up to test a ballistic missile armed with a nuclear warhead capable of hitting United States soil.

After the failed launch, the White House called North Korea’s actions “provocative” and said that what they did threatens regional security, violates international laws and was a total breach of trust internationally.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement:

“Despite the failure of its attempted missile launch, North Korea’s provocative action threatens regional security, violates international law and contravenes its own recent commitments.

“While this action is not surprising given North Korea’s pattern of aggressive behavior, any missile activity by North Korea is of concern to the international community.

“The United States remains vigilant in the face of North Korean provocations, and is fully committed to the security (of) our allies in the region.”

The last time North Korea carried out a “satellite launch” was in April 2009, and at the time, the U.N. Security Council condemned the action and demanded that it not be repeated.

Before this week’s launch, U.N. diplomats warned the North Koreans that they could face further isolation from the rest of the world if it went ahead it.

“This launch will give credence to the view that North Korean leaders see improved relations with the outside world as a threat to the existence of their system,” U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said this week. “And recent history strongly suggests that additional provocations may follow.”

“Pyongyang has a clear choice: It can pursue peace and reap the benefits of closer ties with the international community, including the United States; or it can continue to face pressure and isolation,” Clinton said.

North Korea heavily promoted their launch in an attempt to draw attention to the country as a show of its strength amid economic hardship as their new young leader Kim Jong Un adjusts to his position of power following the death of his father Kim Jong Il four months ago.

Burger King may be trying a little bit TOO hard to compete with its rival McDonald’s.

According to Grub Grade, a Burger King in Nashville, Tennessee has added a few new test items to their menu.

These items include a Bacon Sundae, Sweet Potato Fries, BBQ sandwiches, and frozen lemonades.

The Bacon Sundae is vanilla ice cream covered in fudge sauce and topped with chunks of bacon. (Wait…how does all that even go together??)

Earlier this month, Burger King added 10 new food items to their menu, many that were similar to McDonald’s.

We guess this is an effort to help make the fast food franchise stand out.

The face of a killer: George Zimmerman's mugshot taken on Wednesday, April 11th at the Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford, FL

George Zimmerman — the most hated man in America right now — is behind bars at a Florida prison after being officially charged with 2nd degree murder for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman was performing his duties as a “neighborhood watchman” on the night of Sunday, February 26th when he spotted Martin, who was making his way back to his father’s house after making a quick purchase at a nearby convenience store.

Zimmerman called 911, telling dispatchers that he thought the boy looked “suspicious,” citing recent break-ins in the area, which was an upscale, suburban gated community.

Even though dispatchers asked Zimmerman to not follow the young man, he did so anyway, and the two got into a scuffle, which resulted in Zimmerman pulling out a handgun and shooting Martin in the chest, killing him almost instantly.

George Zimmerman told police that Trayvon Martin — who was unarmed — had attacked him from behind as he was walking back to his truck, and he only shot him in self defense.

But a video taken about 40 minutes after the shooting as Zimmerman arrived at the Sanford, Florida police station after the shooting incident showed him walking unassisted without any difficulty.

There also weren’t any visible injuries or blood on Zimmerman’s clothing, which goes against his erroneous claims that Martin had attacked him.

After questioning, Zimmerman was quickly released, and wasn’t charged for his crime until more than 6 weeks later, on Wednesday, April 11th 2012.

As Trayvon Martin’s story gained popularity across the country, community activists and leaders hosted rallies all over the country, with demands that Zimmerman be brought to justice.

President Barack Obama even offered his opinion on the situation, saying at a White House press event nearly a month after the incident, “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”

Zimmerman’s arrest was delayed in part because of Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law, which gives people legal permission to use deadly force in the face of danger, without even having to attempt a retreat. Florida is among 21 states with such a law.

Though Zimmerman’s arrest is a step toward the justice that Trayvon Martin’s parents say they are seeking for their son, they say they won’t stop fighting until Zimmerman is convicted.

George Zimmerman was arrested and charged with second degree murder on Wednesday (Apr 11).

He was booked at the Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford, Florida and is currently being held in protective custody without bail.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday (Apr 12) in a secure courtroom inside the jail facility.

28-year-old George Zimmerman faces a life sentence if he is found guilty of shooting and killing Trayvon Martin.

George Zimmerman can count down the hours of freedom he has left … because the neighborhood watch volunteer will finally be charged today for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

According to various confirmed reports, Florida special prosecutor Angela Corey plans to officially announce the charges this afternoon. It is not immediately clear what charges Zimmerman will face.

NBC reports the charges will be announced at a 6 p.m. EST news conference.

The prosecutor’s ruling comes just a day after Zimmerman’s lawyers withdrew from his case.

Looks like justice may be served after all….

UPDATE: George Zimmerman is in police custody and will be charged with second degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

Burger King is apologizing to Mary J. Blige after a commercial featuring the R&B singer advertising a brand new menu item went viral for all the wrong reasons.

The clip shows Blige soulfully singing about the popular fast food chain’s all-new chicken snack wraps, and it drew a ton of criticism for playing off the well-known stereotype about black people and chicken.

After just one day, Burger King yanked the commercial off air, which many believed was related to the critical response to the ad; but according to the fast food chain, it was simply due to a “music licensing issue.”

Blige herself spoke out about the controversial commercial, saying in a statement that she the version shown on TV was “unfinished” and not the “fun and creative campaign” she originally agreed to be a part of.

“I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence. Unfortunately, that’s not what was happening in that clip,” MJB said. “I understand my fans being upset by what they saw. But, if you’re a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out.”

In their own statement, Burger King said that the commercial was released “before all of the licensing and final approvals were obtained” and that they would also like to “apologize to Mary J. and all of her fans for airing an ad that was not final.”

A 22 year-old man was recently arrested for disorderly conduct after being denied beer at a Kroger grocery store in Braselton, Georgia.

The man, Jose Sanders, became upset and used profanity in the store when employees weren’t convinced he was of the legal age to purchase alcohol.

Surveillance footage from the store shows Sanders giving his license to a cashier, who then got another employee to take a look at it.

“He looked at my license and he kind of looked kind of nervous to even say something about it,” Sanders told news Channel 2.

Well what the employees didn’t know, was that Jose suffers from a medical condition with his pituitary gland that has affected his growth and causes him to look much younger than his actual age.

Once he realized that showing his ID wasn’t enough, Sanders says he told them to call the police.

“I just said, ‘You can call the police. I have no worry. My whole intention is to buy this beer,’” he said.

Witnesses in the store, however told officers that Sanders began to use profanity.

Sanders says that he did use some profanity, but it wasn’t targeted at anyone in the store.

“I was kind of frustrated, talking to myself. Sometimes I talk out loud,” He said.

He believes that none of this would have happened if it wasn’t for his appearance.

Police in California say the gunman who opened fire at a Christian college in Oakland, killing at least seven people and wounding as many as three others, is showing no signs of remorse for his heinous crime.

The site of the tragic shooting spree was Oikos University, and officials say they have identified the suspect as a 43-year-old former nursing student named One Goh, who is in police custody after surrendering at a nearby shopping plaza just one hour after the shooting.

Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan said Tuesday (Apr 3) that Goh “does not appear to be remorseful at all,” and would not tell police where the weapon was located.

During questioning, Goh told police he was mad at the school administrators for expelling him earlier this year. He also said that he wasn’t treated fairly, and had been picked on by other students for his poor English.

One L. Goh was captured by police almost one hour after the tragic shooting spree that left 7 people dead and wounded at least 3 others.

Jordan told CNN that investigators believe the morning of the shooting, Goh walked into the single-story building that houses the university, took the receptionist hostage and went looking for a particular female administrator, who wasn’t there at the time.

Goh then took the hostage into the classroom, and when he found out the administrator wasn’t there, he shot the secretary and then ordered the students in the room to line up against the wall.

Not all of the students were cooperative, so Goh began shooting, telling the students, “I’m going to kill you all.”

According to police, the students Goh lined up against the wall were shot one-by-one execution style.

Pastor Jong Kim, who founded the school about 10 years ago, told the Oakland Tribune that he heard about 30 rapid-fire gunshots in the building. “I stayed in my office,” he said.

One of the wounded students said the shooter was a man in her nursing class who just randomly walked into the classroom, and shot one person — the receptionist — in the chest at point-blank range before spraying the entire room with bullets.

After the initial shooting, the man left the classroom, reloaded his semi-automatic weapon and returned, firing into several other classrooms located throughout the building.

“This happened within minutes,” Police Chief Jordan said. “We don’t think the victims had any opportunity to resist, any opportunity to surrender.”

The victims ranged in age from 21 to 40, and with the exception of the secretary, were all students. Of those killed, six were women and one was a man.

“This was a calculated, cold-blooded execution,” Police Chief Jordan told CNN. The suspect “just felt a certain urge to inflict pain on them,” he said.

Police are expected to file charges Wednesday.

A drunk man from Canada became an instant Internet sensation last week after video footage of him singing the popular Queen song “Bohemian Rhapsody” while in the back of a police car went viral on YouTube.

After getting pulled over last November in Edson, Alberta (in Canada), 29-year-old Robert Wilkinson, who was clealry drunk, was placed in the back of a Royal Canadian Mounted Police cruiser, where he launched into an acapella rendition of the Queen classic word-for-word with ZERO mistakes.

The song clocks in at around six minutes, and has several pitch/tone changes, but Wilkinson keeps up with it all, enthusiastically air-guitaring, air-drumming, and pounding on the window.

Before launching into the tune, Wilkinson, who wasn’t handcuffed, tried to explain to the RMCP officer that he wasn’t intoxicated, and that he should bet let go.

“I have done nothing wrong — even the situation where you grabbed me, has nothing to do with having been sort-of intoxicated … as you proclaim!” the drunken bearded man slurs in the beginning of the video. “What it has to do with is brotherhood of man on the planet Earth!”

Wilkinson also reportedly told the cop: “You’re actually an ignorant fucking cunt. So fuck you buddy.”

According to The Smoking Gun, Robert Wilkinson has decided to defend himself against the DUI charges brought against him, and to assist him with his “case,” the police gave him the video footage, which he uploaded himself to YouTube to impress his friends.

In a TSG interview, Wilkinson said that he had uploaded the tape earlier this month for the amusement of friends. Wilkinson, who was unaware that the police video (see below) had gone viral, said that he is a karaoke singer who has performed all 113 Beatles songs available on karaoke machines. Asked how he was able to recall almost all the “Bohemian Rhapsody” lyrics, Wilkinson sought to display his memory by rattling off a long string of digits in Pi.

The winning numbers for the $640 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot have been announced!

Following this week’s record-breaking sales, the Mega Millions madness came to a climax Friday night (Mar 30) as the winning numbers were drawn:

2, 4, 23, 38 and 46. The mega number is 23.

Lottery officials confirmed Saturday morning (Mar 31) that at least three winners — from Kansas, Maryland and Illinois — will split Friday’s record $640 million Mega Millions jackpot. They’re waiting for information on potential jackpot winners from the 39 other Mega Millions states.

Spike Lee is doing the right thing!

The famed director reportedly apologized to an elderly couple in Sanford, FL who were forced to flee their home after Lee re-tweeted their address on popular social networking site Twitter, thinking that it belonged to George Zimmerman, the infamous neighborhood watchman who fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin last month.

Lee tweeted Wednesday:

“I Deeply Apologize To The McClain Family For Retweeting Their Address. It Was A Mistake. Please Leave The McClain’s In Peace.”

Spike Lee also reached an undisclosed settlement with the Florida couple, agreeing to compensate them for basically ruining their lives, according to Elaine and David McClain‘s attorney Matt Morgan.

“At this point in time, we have come to an agreement with Spike Lee and his attorneys, and at this point, the matter is fully resolved,” Morgan said in a statement. “Spike has agreed to compensate the McClains for their loss and for the disruption into their lives. He’s taken full responsibility.”

Mrs. McClain said the “Do the Right Thing” director was sincere with his apology and “was really kind” during their chat.

“When he called us, you could just tell he really felt bad about it,”" she said. “And it was just a slip, and I just know that he really, really has been concerned.”

The McClains, who are both in their 70s, were forced to leave their Sanford, FL home and temporarily relocate to a local hotel when they were bombarded with numeraous death threats, hate mail and unwanted media attention after Lee re-tweeted a message from another Twitter user containing their address to his 250,000+ followers. The address was originally thought to be George Zimmerman’s.

Elaine and David say they have no ties what-so-ever to George Zimmerman, but Elaine does have a son named William George Zimmerman, and had records from 1995 when he lived with her at that address.

The Trayvon Martin shooting death case continues to spark outrage across the globe as George Zimmerman hasn’t been arrested and charged for his crime.

Thanks to a recent influx in lottery ticket purchases from people who really want to strike it rich … the Mega Millions record jackpot of $540 million has now grown to $640 million!

The pot has reportedly grown nearly $300 million since Tuesday’s drawing failed to draw a top prize winner for the 18th time in a row since late January.

The big $640 million jackpot, if taken as a lump sum of about $462 million, would work out to around $347 million after taxes.

The odds of winning are about 1 in 176 million, which means that in order to (almost) guarantee a win, you would have to spend $176 million, which is pretty impractical. (If you had $176 million to spend … you wouldn’t even need to win the lottery, now would you?)

Even though you have a better chance of getting struck by lightening or dieing from a TV falling on top of your head (thanks for that comparison, USA Today) than winning the lottery … that hasn’t stopped hundreds of thousands (maybe even millions) of people from giving it a shot in recent months.

Idaho, one of the 42 states that offers Mega Millions tickets, usually sells about 200,000 to 250,000 tickets during a typical lottery cycle.

But this time around? “We’re at 800,000 right now and expect to sell over 1 million by Friday night,” according to state lottery director Jeff Anderson.

Lorraine Malkmus, who manages a store that sells tickets in Meridian, Idaho, says she’s had to call in employees to handle the high demand.

“We’ve been jammed since Tuesday,” Malkmus told a local news reporter. “We’re selling over 2,000 tickets a day — 400 to 500 is normal. People who’ve never played before are coming in for tickets. People are picking up $50 worth of tickets for office pools. The Frito-Lay delivery guy bought $50 worth.”

David Woosley, a field consultant for several 7-Eleven stores in Southern California’s Coachella Valley, says that consumers are spending up to 10 times more than usual on Mega Millions tickets.

“It’s been outrageous,” Woosley says. “Every customer coming in is buying at least eight tickets. I’m seeing people buying $50 to $100 worth rather than the $2 to $3 they usually spend.”

Even down in New Orleans, “sales are booming,” convenience store manager David Gonzalez said. “It definitely brings people in. Everybody loves the lottery.”

According to the Consumer Federation of America, more than 1 in 5 Americans believe that the best way to achieve long-term financial security is to play the lottery.

Statistically speaking, Americans spend more on lottery tickets than they do on books or going to the movies.

But what people need to know is that winning the lottery doesn’t automatically mean you’ll be rich and happy for the rest of your life.

In fact, there are several stories out there about people who have won the lottery, and have either ended up broker than they were before they won … or even worse. Dead.

Money can buy you a lot of nice things, but one thing it can’t buy is happiness.

With that said, good luck to all of you people out there who think winning $640 $462 $347 million dollars in the biggest and most publicized lottery in the history of the world is going to change your life for the better.

George Zimmerman is a bold-faced liar, which shouldn’t be new information to anyone with a fully functioning brain who has been following the Trayvon Martin shooting death case.

Newly released police surveillance video, obtained by ABC News, shows that Trayvon Martin’s killer had not one single visible injury … which totally contradicts his fallacious story that Martin attacked him by punching him in the face and slamming his head into the sidewalk “multiple times,” causing various injuries including a swollen lip, bloody nose and lacerations to the back of his head.

The video footage, recorded just four hours after the shooting, shows no such injuries. In fact, Zimmerman appears to be upbeat (and in no pain) as he literally hops out of the back of the police car with no assistance what-so-ever, despite his hands being cuffed behind him.

Take a look at the video:

Do you see any “lacerations” on the back of his head? Nope.

What about that bloody nose? Shouldn’t he have blood all over his shirt? And when you have a bloody nose, aren’t you supposed to hold your head back so you don’t bleed to death?

That’s because Zimmerman clearly lied to police, who are taking his word (and the word of “anonymous witnesses”) over the clear facts.

Trayvon Martin did not attack George Zimmerman. George Zimmerman did, however, murder Trayvon Martin, but Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law prevents him from being arrested, because Zimmerman claims he was acting in self defense when he shot and killed Trayvon Martin the night of February 26th.

Zimmerman’s lawyer Craig Sonner says the video neither supports nor refutes his clients version of the events. “I don’t think it does either one,” Sonner said on the ‘Today’ show. “It’s a very grainy video.”

17-year-old Trayvon Martin was reportedly staying with his father and future step-mother (his father’s fiancee) when he walked to a nearby convenience store to buy a bag of skittles for his little brother, and a can of iced tea for himself.

28-year-old George Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watchman, shot and killed Martin after calling 911 to report a “suspcious” person walking around his gated suburban community near orlando.

Zimmerman — who was told by 911 dispatchers to stay in his car and NOT follow the teenager — falsely claims that Martin confronted him, decked him with a single punch, and pounded his head into the ground several times.

The controversial case continues to spark outrage across the nation (and even the world) as George Zimmerman, who clearly murdered Trayvon Martin for no apparent reason, has yet to be charged with anything.

A JetBlue flight headed to Las Vegas was forced to make an emergency landing in Texas on Tuesday (Mar 27) after the pilot went completely nuts and started displaying “erratic” behavior, forcing the plane’s co-pilot to lock him out of the cockpit so that he could safely land the plane.

According to multiple confirmed reports, with 131 passengers and six crew members aboard JetBlue fight 191, pilot Clayton Osbon started displaying potentially dangerous behavior shortly after the flight left from Kennedy Airport in New York.

At the time, Osbon wasn’t at the controls, but he “began acting erratically, flipping switches in the cockpit and appearing confused.”

When Captian Osbon left the cockpit during the flight, the plane’s co-pilot, concerned by Osbon’s strange behavior, ran and locked the door behind him.

Passengers on the flight explained what they witnessed next during the traumatic incident.

“The pilot ran to the cockpit door, began banging on it and said something to the effect of, ‘We’ve gotta pull the throttle back. We’ve gotta get this plane down,’” said Laurie Dhue.

She continued, “At that point, the two flight attendants tried to subdue him, and then seemingly out of nowhere, about six or seven large guys stormed to the front of the plane and wrestled the captain of the plane down to the ground and had him subdued in a matter of moments. It was really like something out of a movie.”

“The captain of the plane just went berserk,” passenger Wayne Honlnes said. “He came out of the other end of the plane … came running back to the cockpit and he was shouting out these numbers … 500 something. He started banging on the cockpit door.”

While Osbon was in the cabin, an off-duty JetBlue pilot who was traveling on the flight managed to enter the cockpit and help the co-pilot land the plane safely.

“Another captain, traveling off duty, entered the flight deck prior to landing at Amarillo, and took over the duties of the ill crewmember once on the ground,” JetBlue said in a statement. “The aircraft arrived Amarillo at 10:11 am CT, and the crewmember was removed from the aircraft and taken to a local medical facility.”

David Gonzalez, a former New York City corrections officer, said he was sitting in the second row of the plane when he saw the clearly troubled captain run from the cockpit and rush toward an occupied bathroom where he started shouting crazy stuff like “Iraq … al-Qaeda … terrorism … we’re all going down!”

Gonzalez said he asked the captain what his problem was, and the unruly pilot replied, “You’d better start praying right now,” and started ranting and raving about Al Qaeda, a bomb, and threatening that the plane is going down.

“I was actually the one that took him down. I noticed he was very erratic,” Gonzalez said. “He was pinned against the door. I was afraid he was going to knock down the door. I was able to put a choke hold on him. I was able to get him weak from cutting his wind pipe.

Gonzalez said, “When he buckled, I realized I had him where I need him. So I put a little more pressure, and that’s when he almost passed out. So I threw him to the floor. That’s when the team came in and started helping me … I just didn’t want him opening up that door. I knew if he got in there, we wouldn’t be sitting here now.”

Gonzalez says he remained on top of the captain until the plane landed because he was afraid of what might happen if he were to break free. He said it “looked like a TV SWAT show” when the they landed and police swarmed the plane.

On the ground, Osbon was taken off the plane in handcuffs and a wheelchair by Amarillo, TX police and was placed into FBI custody.

After the safe landing, passengers thanked Gonzalez and asked to take photos with him, calling him a hero.

49-year-old Clayton Osbon has been flying professionally as a commercial pilot since 1989, and has worked for JetBlue since 2000. He is also (or was) one of the company’s Flight Standards Captains.

As of now, no one knows why he snapped.

According to the opinion of a racist New Orleans police officer, 17-year-old Trayvon Martin “acted like a thug” and he deserved to “die like one.”

It has been over a month since Trayvon’s death, and so far, his killer — George Zimmerman — has not been arrested, which has sparked public outcry across the nation amongst those who want Zimmerman charged and punished for his crime.

But not everyone is against George Zimmerman, who claims he shot Martin in self defense after the high school student punched him and slammed his head into the sidewalk several times.

Using his Facebook account to comment on an online news article about a rally that was held for Trayvon Martin, New Orleans Police Officer Jason Giroir proudly posted:

“Act like a Thug Die like one!”

After another online commenter criticized Giroir’s statement as racist, Giroir responded back with, “…come on down to our town with a ‘Hoodie’ and you can join Martin in HELL and talk about your racist stories! :-P”

The officer’s wife also posted a similar comment to the site:

“He acted like a thug and died like one!”

Because of he and his wife’s derogatory comments regarding the Trayvon Martin situation, Officer Giroir has been suspended indefinitely without pay, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

The New Orleans police superintendent announced the suspension at a news conference Monday afternoon (Mar 26).

Officer Jason Giroir was suspended without pay after he called Trayvon Martin a "thug" and said he "deserved to die."

“To say that I’m angry is an understatement. I’m furious,” said Ronald Serpas, who also said the posts “embarrassed this department” and did not reflect the views of the NOPD.

Officer Giroir’s comments about Trayvon Martin being a “thug” come at a time when the media is trying to blame Martin for his own death.

Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera said Martin was shot and killed because he was wearing a hoodie, which he believes enhances the “thug” image and made Zimmerman respond in a violent and aggressive manner that ended in Martin’s shooting death.

“I am urging the parents of black and Latino youngsters particularly to not let their children go out wearing hoodies,” Rivera said on Fox & Friends. “I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death as George Zimmerman was.”

Rivera has since apologized for his hurtful comments, saying in an e-mail to Politico.com, “by putting responsibility on what kids wear instead of how people react to them I have obscured the main point that someone shot and killed an unarmed teenager.”

In an effort to continue to portray Martin as a troubled teen, the police also leaked information from Trayvon’s private school records, which state that he was suspended from school for 10 days after he was caught with a bag containing trace amounts of marijuana.

However, Benjamin Crump, the attorney for Martin’s grieving parents, says that those reports are “irrelevant” in regards to what happened the night of February 26th when Martin was gunned down.

Crump says revelations of the teen’s school disciplinary record are an “attempt to demonize him,” and we couldn’t agree more.

What do you think about the media’s smear campaign against Trayvon Martin?

In response to the nationwide outcry demanding that George Zimmerman be arrested for the murder of Trayvon Martin, the Sanford, Florida Police Department has released more “details” about the incident.

Details that are basically more lies from George Zimmerman, who continues to claim he was defending himself when he shot and killed 17-year-old Martin, who was “armed” with a can of Arizona iced tea and a bag of skittles.

Zimmerman, a now former neighborhood watchman, spotted Martin leaving his father’s house in a gated suburban community near Orlando, FL at around 7 pm the night of February 26th 2012 and decided to follow him and call 911 because he thought the boy looked “suspicious.”

The 911 call released weeks after the incident show that the dispatcher told Zimmerman to remain in his SUV, but he did not follow orders, and continued to follow Trayvon, who was minding his own business.

It was reportedly raining at the time, and the 17-year-old was wearing a hoodie, and talking to his 16-year-old girlfriend on the phone.

His girlfriend says she heard Trayvon ask George Zimmerman “why are you following me?” then hearing sounds of scuffle and the line going dead. Police records confirm that the young woman was talking to Martin moments before his death.

According to George Zimmerman’s version of the events, however … he claims to have lost sight of Trayvon, and as he was walking back to his SUV, he says Trayvon approached him from behind.

Zimmerman told police that Trayvon asked him if he had a problem. Zimmerman said no, and he says Trayvon said something like, “well you do now,” and punched him in the nose.

Zimmerman says he fell to the ground, and he alleges Trayvon jumped on top of him and slammed his head into the sidewalk multiple times.

According to authorities, Zimmerman then pulled out his gun and fired once at Trayvon, shooting him in the chest from very close range.

According to the “official” police report, Trayvon’s body was lying face down in the grass with his hands beneath his body when cops arrived to the scene two minutes later.

Officer Timothy Smith wrote in the report that Zimmerman had a swollen lip, and was bleeding from the nose and the back of his head; and his back was wet and covered with grass “as if he had been laying on his back on the ground.”

Smith said Zimmerman told first responders who were giving him first aid, “I was yelling for someone to help me, but no one would help me.”

Several “eye witnesses” back up Zimmerman’s story, telling cops he saw Trayvon on top of Zimmerman, punching him.

Cries for help were heard in the background on several 911 tapes, and were also heard by a number of witnesses, though exactly who was calling out is in dispute, with some saying it was Zimmerman, others saying it was Trayvon.

One of the 911 calls from the neighborhood was made by a teenage boy, who says he was walking his dog when he saw a helpless Trayvon lying on the ground, which goes directly against that so-called police report. “He was screaming,” the teenager said.

Trayvon Martin was listed in the police report was 6 feet tall, 160 pounds. Zimmerman was listed as 5 foot 9, and he is believed to be around 200 or more pounds.

A woman whose back door was steps away from where Trayvon was gunned down said she heard a boy crying, then a gunshot … and then silence.

“I heard someone crying – not boo-hoo crying, but scared or terrified or hurt maybe,” the woman said. “To me, it was a child.”

Prosecutors are saying that the conflicting stories, in addition to Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law, adds to the complication of the case.

But even if Trayvon Martin did punch Zimmerman as he claims, Reuters notes that there still may be enough conflicting evidence to imply that the shooting was NOT done in self-defense, which means that an though an arrest is not immediately possible, a grand jury will have to review the case and make that decision.

According to recent reports, George Zimmerman, a mortgage analyst, has been in hiding since a fringe group called the New Black Panther Party put a $10,000 bounty on his head.

Demands for his arrest continues to grow day-by-day as rallies and marches are held nationwide demanding justice for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

18-year-old Taco Bell employee Joshua Fisher reportedly snapped when he was told by his manager to start taking customer orders at the fast food restaurant’s the drive-thru.

According to witness affidavits, Fisher was supposed to be handling orders at a Taco Bell in Palmetto, but “wasn’t doing what he should have been doing.”

As “the drive through line was backed up,” his manager told him to start doing his job. When this request was not met with action, the boss walked around Fisher and began taking the orders himself.

This, according to Fisher’s coworkers, set the employee off. First, he allegedly threatened to “snap” his manager’s neck. Then he began throwing condiment holders, utensils, a headset, and a box of pizza (that struck co-workers).

One Taco Bell employee noted in her affidavit that, “this is not his first temper problem.”

Due to Fisher’s insane outburst, the restaurant had to be shut down for nearly an hour in order to clear up the mess that he made in the kitchen area.

Fisher was later booked at Manatee County jail for criminal damage and misdemeanor battery.

His arraignment will be in circuit court on April 19, and he remains locked up on $1250 bond.

Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera is under fire for making a controversial statement last Friday during a discussion on “Fox and Friends” about the Trayvon Martin shooting death case.

While discussing the situation, Rivera said that the reason 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was gunned down, was simply because he was wearing a hoodie, which he says he believes made the “nutty neighborhood watch guy” respond in a “violent and aggressive way.” (his words)

“I am urging the parents of black and Latino youngsters particularly to not let their children go out wearing hoodies,” Rivera said on “Fox & Friends.” “I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death as George Zimmerman was.”

“When you see a kid walking down the street, particularly a dark-skinned kid like my son Cruz, who I constantly yelled at when he was going out wearing a damn hoodie or those pants around his ankles,” Rivera said, as he continued on to argue that there is an “instant association” with someone that is wearing a hoodie.

Trayvon Martin was shot and killed a month ago today (Feb 26) in a suburban community in Florida by a racist gun-toting neighborhood watchman named George Zimmerman, who claims he was being attacked by Martin (who was wearing a hoodie because it was raining), and that’s why he murdered him.

Trayvon Martin, however, was running away from George Zimmerman throughout the ordeal and the only thing he had in his possession was a bag of skittles and a can of Arizona iced tea he had purchased just moments ago from a nearby convenience store.

Trayvon’s hoodie has become a symbol of protest in light of his death, which has sparked numerous rallies nationwide, including one in New York last week called the “Million Hoodie March,” which drew thousands of supporters and was even attended by Martin’s parents.

It should also be noted that Fox News is the only major news network that is not covering the Trayvon Martin case, unless they’re blaming his hoodie for his death (instead of the guy who was holding the gun) or publishing false reports of a witness claiming they saw Martin attack George Zimmerman.

President Barack Obama has finally responded to the tragic shooting death of Trayvon Martin for the first time since the controversy erupted on a national scale.

“If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Obama said on the steps of the White House today, noting how the issue has affected him on a personal level, and not just on a political or legal level. “I think [Trayvon's parents] are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.”

“Obviously, this is a tragedy,” he said. “I can only imagine what these parents are going through, and when I think about this, I think about my own kids, and I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this and everybody aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together — federal, state and local — to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened.”

President Obama continued, “I think all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen. And that means we examine the laws and the context for what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident.”

The United States Justice Department announced this week that it will launch an investigation into the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was killed almost a month ago by a racist, gun wielding neighborhood watchman.

“The department will conduct a thorough and independent review of all the evidence and take appropriate action at the conclusion of the investigation,” the U.S. government said in a statement Monday (Mar 20).

The announcement follows numerous protests held across the country calling for the arrest of 28-year-old George Zimmerman, who claims he was defending himself when he shot the teenager in cold blood on February 26th 2012.

Trayvon Martin was returning to his father’s house in a gated community in Sanford, FL after what was supposed to a quick trip to a nearby convenience store when he was shot and killed by Zimmerman.

When Zimmerman spotted Martin, he called 911, and told the dispatcher he thought the young, African American boy looked “suspicious” and continued to follow him, even after the 911 operator told him he shouldn’t.

“This guy looks like he’s up to no good, or he’s on drugs or something,” Zimmerman said to the 911 operator. “It’s raining and he’s just walking around looking at houses.”

“He’s just staring, looking at all the houses,” Zimmerman said. “Now he’s coming toward me. He’s got his hand in his waistband. Something’s wrong with him.”

Zimmerman, who described Trayvon as wearing a hoodie and sweatpants or jeans, continued, “He’s coming to check me out. He’s got something in his hands. I don’t know what his deal is. Can we get an officer over here?”

“These assholes always get away,” he calmly told the 911 operator. “Shit, he’s running.” At one point during his conversation with the 911 dispatcher, Zimmerman can be heard calling Trayvon a “coon.”

Within moments, more 911 calls were placed from within the gated upscale community describing a quick scuffle, cries for help and a gunshot.

Zimmerman claims self defense, however Trayvon Martin showed no signs that he intended to attack or otherwise harm Zimmerman. All he had in his possession was a can of iced tea and a bag of skittles.

Other people living in the neighborhood told officials they heard Martin pleading for his life, which was followed by a gunshot, then silence.

Zimmerman was taken in for questioning, but wasn’t arrested and right now isn’t facing any charges, which has sparked outrage amongst those who want justice for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

On Monday, college students held rallies on the on the campus of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee and outside the Seminole County Criminal Justice center, where prosecutors are reportedly reviewing the case to determine whether or not to file charges against George Zimmerman.

Sadly, changes made to Florida law in 2005 are preventing prosecutors from being able to charge Zimmerman.

Under the old law, people in fear of their lives could use deadly force in self-defense, but only if they had tried to run away or otherwise avoid the danger.

But under this new law, the person doesn’t have to retreat and has the legal right to “to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force” if they feel threatened.

28-year-old George Zimmerman claims he felt threatened by Trayvon Martin, even though Zimmerman was twice the 17-year-old’s size and over 10 years his senior.

But there is no possible way Trayvon Martin could have displayed any signs of threatening behavior. All he had in his possession was a bag of skittles and a can of iced tea, and he was actually running from Zimmerman in fear of his own life.

Had the tables been turned and Trayvon had shot George Zimmerman … he would definitely be in jail. But sadly, almost a month after the incident, Zimmerman is still a free man.

A march for justice for Trayvon held in New York City Wednesday evening (Mar 21), dubbed the “Million Hoodie March,” drew thousands and thousands of supporters who want George Zimmerman put behind bars for his heinous crime.

Demonstrators were heard chanting “we want arrests!” as they paraded through NYC’s streets. They greeted the teen’s parents with “God bless you!”

“My son did not deserve to die,” Trayvon’s father, Tracy Martin, said after thanking the large crowd.

Trayvon’s mother Sybrina Fulton told the crwod, “My heart is in pain, but to see the support of all of you really makes a difference.”

At one point, the march dispersed into various groups, with some demonstrators traveling to Times Square to hold an impromptu rally, and dozens of others making their way to downtown Manhattan to hold demonstrations there.

Trayvon’s parents say they had no idea about the march beforehand, and had only found out about it while they were in town to do interviews about the case.

Daniel Maree, one of the organizers for the march, said that the timing of the teen’s parents being in the city when the march was happening was “incredible.”

“I was outraged and wanted to do something about it,” Maree said, adding that he first heard about the case earlier this week.

Asked how he was holding up, Tracy Martin said he was trying to stay strong.

“I don’t feel this is the time to break down, even though it’s a very troubling time in my life,” he said. “I’ve told myself, when I get justice for Trayvon, then I’ll have my time to break down.”

Janice Doble says she and 13 other employees were fired for wearing orange shirts to work

A large group of employees — 14 to be exact — at a lawfirm in Deerfield Beach, Florida were fired last week after they all wore matching orange shirts to work one day.

The employees at the Elizabeth R. Wellborn law firm said they’ve been wearing matching orange shirts on pay-day Fridays for the past few months so they would stand out as a group when they went out for happy hour after work.

But last week, they were given pink slips from their bosses after the new company executives accused them of wearing the bright shirts as a form of protest against the new management.

31-year-old Lou Erik Ambert, a paralegal who was one of the 14 people who were fired, told the Sun-Sentinel that another employee tried to explain to the bosses that wearing orange was an innocent happy hour tradition, but they didn’t buy it.

“There is no office policy against wearing orange shirts. We had no warning. We got no severance, no package, no nothing,” Ambert told the Sun-Sentinel. “I feel so violated.”

39-year-old Melony McLoud echoed Ambert’s sentiments, saying that her choice of shirt has put her in a rough spot: “I’m a single mom with four kids, and I’m out of a job just because I wore orange today.”

50-year-old Janice Doble said she wore orange — her favorite color — to work Friday because she was looking forward to heading to happy hour with her colleagues after a busy week.

“Orange happens to be my favorite color. My patio is orange,” said Doble. “My lipstick was orange today.”

Now she says she’s worried about her 4 children who work for the law firm. “I have four kids who work there,” said Doble. “I don’t want them to retaliate and fire my kids.”

Yadel Fong, a now former mail-room worker, dismissed the notion that he and his fellow employees were protesting.

“To my mind, protesting is where you put your foot down, and you’re not working,” Fong said. “There was none of that today.”

Florida is an “at will” employment state, meaning employees can be fired for any reason, unless it violates the law or there is a contract in place.

In this case, “No violation of the law jumps out,” according to Eric K. Gabrielle, a labor and employment lawyer at another law firm in Florida.

So basically over a dozen people were fired from their jobs because they were wearing the color orange … and they can’t do a damn thing about it because of a stupid Florida law?

Wow. No wonder George Zimmerman has so far gotten away with the murder of Trayvon Martin.

If they let a man get away with murder, there’s no telling what else that state will let people get away with.

Florida sounds like an “awesome” place to live. Not.

According to numerous confirmed reports, Trayvon was watching the 2012 NBA All-Star game on Sunday, February 26th 2012 while visiting his father in a gated community in Sanford, FL (near Orlando).

Trayvon, who had celebrated his 17th birthday just weeks before, left the residence to walk to a nearby convenience store to buy a can of iced tea for himself, and a bag of skittles for his younger brother.

As he was walking back to the home, Trayvon (a young black man) was spotted by the neighborhood watch leader — a 28-year-old white man named George Zimmerman — who called 911 to report a “suspicious” person was walking around.

“This guy looks like he’s up to no good, or he’s on drugs or something,” Zimmerman told the 911 operator. “It’s raining and he’s just walking around looking at houses.”

“He’s just staring, looking at all the houses,” Zimmerman said. “Now he’s coming toward me. He’s got his hand in his waistband. Something’s wrong with him.”

The 911 operator asked Zimmerman to describe the young man’s race and age, to which he responded, “He’s a black male … late teens.”

Zimmerman, who described Trayvon as wearing a hoodie and sweatpants or jeans, continued, “He’s coming to check me out. He’s got something in his hands. I don’t know what his deal is. Can we get an officer over here?”

“These assholes always get away,” he calmly told the 911 operator. “Shit, he’s running.”

Zimmerman can then be heard getting out of his car in an attempt to chase down Trayvon, despite the dispatcher telling him that an officer was being sent.

“Are you following him?” asks the dispatcher, to which Zimmerman calmly responded, “Yeah.”

“Okay, we don’t need you to do that,” said the dispatcher.

“Okay,” replied Zimmerman, who continued to follow Trayvon anyway.

Within moments, a herd of 911 emergency calls were placed from inside the gated, upscale community describing a scuffle, cries for help and a gunshot.

In one of the recordings, one concerned neighbor told the dispatcher that two guys were wrestling right behind his back porch, and one of them was yelling for help. Within seconds, the male caller reported that he believed that one of the men — “the black guy” — was dead.

“I’m pretty sure the guy is dead … Oh, my God! … The black guy looks like he’s been shot and he’s dead.”

In another recording, the caller told dispatchers that Zimmerman was actually on top of Trayvon, for whatever reason.

“The guy on top has a white T-shirt,” a female caller said.

“Is he on top of someone?” the operator asks.

“Mmmhmmm,” the caller responds.

Yet another caller can be heard saying, “Someone was screaming ‘Help! help! help!’ Then I heard a gunshot.”

Another caller, a teenage boy, said that he was walking his dog when he saw a helpless Trayvon lying on the ground. “He was screaming,” the teenager said.

Then he told the operator that he had heard a single gunshot, and the screaming had stopped.

At that very moment, Trayvon Martin — an innocent, unarmed teenager — was dead.

A woman whose back door was steps away from where Trayvon was gunned down said she heard a boy crying, then a gunshot … and then silence.

“I heard someone crying – not boo-hoo crying, but scared or terrified or hurt maybe,” the woman said. “To me, it was a child.”

After the shooting, Zimmerman was taken in for questioning — without actually being arrested — where he admitted to shooting Trayvon in the chest and claimed self-defense. He was released shortly thereafter without any charges being filed.

Trayvon Martin’s family and their lawyers were given the opportunity to listen to the audio before it was made public.

Before the release of the audio recordings, police tried to say that Zimmerman was the one who was heard screaming, however now that we — the public — can hear the tapes for ourselves … we all now know the truth.

“You hear a shot, a clear shot, that we can only assume is a warning shot,” said Natalie Jackson, a family attorney. “Then a 17-year-old boy is begging for his life. Everything tells me that that was Trayvon Martin.”

Tracy Martin — the teenager’s father — broke down crying as he listened to the audio on Friday, the family lawyers said. “My son was crying for help, and he still shot him,” Mr. Martin said, according to Benjamin Crump, another family attorney.

Barely lasting through half the tapes, Trayvon’s mother Sybrina Fulton ran out of the room screaming and crying.

Trayvon’s father and his mother Sybrina Fulton are now accusing Sanford police of mishandling the investigation and have criticized them for not arresting Zimmerman, despite his claims of self defense.

Martin wasn’t armed, and his parents believe that Zimmerman wasn’t (and weeks later, still hasn’t been) arrested simply because he is white and their son was black.

The entire situation has sparked a huge wave of public outrage across the country, and requests have been made that the Department of Justice step in and get involved with the case.

A petition pleading for Zimmerman to be charged with murder that was posted to Change.org has over 500,000 signatures (at the time this story was published) and counting.

That’s over half a million people who believe Trayvon Martin’s death was an act of violence, and not “self defense” as George Zimmerman claims.

“Do we really believe that if Trayvon Martin would have pulled the trigger, he would not be arrested?” said family attorney Benjamin Crump. “This is obviously a cover-up, and we need a sweeping overhaul of the Sanford Police Department.”

Police in Coral Springs, FL say they arrested a man who allegedly took a young woman out to lunch at Applebee’s while his friend robbed her home.

According to police, 18-year-old Anthony Maldanado met Kelly Galbraith at a party. Using the alias “Florenciano Valentino,” the young man asked his new lady friend out on a date after telling her that he had just moved to Florida from New York a couple of months ago.

Throughout the date the following week, Valentino reportedly used the girl’s cell phone to talk to his accomplice, who was robbing Galbraith blind as they spoke.

And to top it all off … he left her to pay the bill, and also stole her phone!

When the girl returned home from the “lunch date,” she found her home broken into, and several high-value electronic items missing (about $5,000 worth). She called police right away.

Among the items taken included a flat screen TV, an iPad and a macbook.

Anthony Maldanado (or “Florenciano Valentino,” as he likes to call himself) was later arrested on charges of burglary and grand theft. He bonded out of Miami-Dade County Jail for $4,500.

So he not only robbed this girl … but he also skipped out on the bill?

What a cheap date! The bill was probably only 20 bucks, especially with the 2 for 20 deal going on.

If you ask us, the girl was probably in on it, trying to get a little insurance check or something if you know what we mean… Because she can’t be that naive, can she?

A man from Colorado was killed after a 20-foot pile of pinto beans fell on him at a warehouse facility where he worked.

According to confirmed reports, 56-year-old Raymond Segura Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene after rescue workers failed to reach him alive.

The local sheriff Dave Martin told reporters that emergency rescue workers were sent to the site the morning of the incident after someone called 911 and said that a worker was trapped in a pile of loose pinto beans.

Martin said dozens of rescue workers (and even four inmates from a nearby jail) spent over an hour digging through the mound of beans in an effort to try and save Mr. Segura, but by the time they reached him, he was dead.

Segura was a long time resident of the area and had worked at the warehouse for over 12 years, Martin said.

He also added that the how the accident happened, how the victim became trapped, and the cause of death are currently under investigation.

Regardless of how everything happened, being crushed by a mound of pinto beans is a HORRIBLE way to go…

A group of about a dozen or so protesters — including actor George Clooney — were arrested early Friday (Mar 16) during an illegal protest at the Sudanese Embassy in Washington, D.C.

According to CNN, the arrested protestors included congressmen, human rights activists and faith leaders.

Clooney, along with his dad Nick and the other demonstrators, were peacefully arrested by the uniformed division of the U.S. Secret Service at around 11:45 am for crossing police lines, a misdemeanor offense.

Clooney was booked into a D.C. police station and he bailed out for a measly $100 (pocket change for this guy) a couple of hours later.

Sources close to the actor say that he feels good about the arrest because it puts an ever bigger spotlight on the crisis.

The other notable protestors who were arrested included United to End Genocide President Tom Andrews; Democratic Reps. Jim McGovern, Al Green, Jim Moran and John Olver; Martin Luther King III; and NAACP President Ben Jealous.

Moments before his arrest, Clooney, who was leading the protest, explained why he and the other protestors were demonstrating outside the Sudanese Embassy:

“We are here really to ask two very simple questions. The first question is something immediate — and immediately, we need humanitarian aid to be allowed into the Sudan before it becomes the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.

“[The second] is for the government in Khartoum to stop randomly killing its own innocent men, women and children. Stop raping them and stop starving them. That’s all we ask.”

A Denver police officer is facing criminal charges after violently attacking his girlfriend for hitting him with Justin Bieber doll. (WTF?!?)

Back in January, Michael Nuanes Jr. was arrested for punching his 42 year-old girlfriend in the ribs, pulling her hair, and beating her with a piece of a broken bathroom door he had kicked in.

Nuanes claims he snapped after the woman had “thrown a ‘Barbie Doll’ at him, which bruised his foot and [said] that it hurt.”

“Nuanes pointed out a ‘Justin Bieber’ doll, which was the item used to injure him,” the police report stated.

He also claimed she kicked him, choked him and bit his finger.

No charges have been filed against the woman, but Nuanes, on the other hand, is facing charges of misdemeanor assault causing injury and property damage.

He is also being put on desk duty with the Denver Police Department because a protection order related to the domestic violence case prohibits him from carrying a gun.

What kind of man — better yet…a frikkin POLICE OFFICER — jumps on a woman for throwing a Justin Bieber doll at him??

Remember that “pink slime” stuff the USDA recently purchased to serve in school meals? Turns out, the cheap meat filler can be found in at least 70 percent of the ground beef that is sold at grocery stores across the country!

And if that doesn’t make your stomach turn enough, by some estimates, pink slime is in up to 25 percent of almost every hamburger patty consumed in America.

“It kind of looks like play dough,” said Kit Foshee, a former corporate quality assurance manager at Beef Products Inc., the company that makes pink slime. “It’s pink and frozen, it’s not what the typical person would consider meat.”

Once only used in dog food and cooking oil, the pinkish substance formally branded as “Lean Beef Trimmings,” or “pink slime,” in much more appropriate terms, is basically a disgusting mixture of beef scraps, cow connective tissues and other spare beef trimmings that have been treated with ammonium hydroxide to kill pathogens like salmonella and E. coli to make the meat safe and at least somewhat appetizing.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!

The resulting substance is flash frozen and boxed, then shipped out to whoever decides to blend it into ground beef and hamburger patties as a “filler” to sell to grocery stores and restaurants.

“[It will] fill you up, but won’t do any good,” Foshee said, explaining that the substance is more like gelatin and isn’t as nutritious as real ground beef.

Even though this sounds (and looks) really gross and unhealthy, the USDA believes that “Lean Beef Trimmings” are safe to eat, which explains why they bought 7 million pounds of the stuff to serve in schools, and apparently allow meat producers nationwide to use it without even letting us — the consumers — know.

From the ground beef you buy at the grocery store, to the hamburger you’re eating at your favorite restaurant, all of it contains at least a little bit of pink slime. And up until now, you probably didn’t even know because there is absolutely no labeling on the meat’s packaging indicating so.

“There is no way to even know from labels or even from the butchers here whether it contains pink slime,” said an ABC News producer from New York.

“It’s economic fraud,” says former USDA scientist Gerald Zirnstein, who was the first person to call the meat stuff “pink slime” after he toured a Beef Products Inc. production facility as part of an investigation into salmonella contamination in packaged ground beef.

“It’s not fresh ground beef. It’s a cheap substitute being added in,” he told ABC News.

Joseph Kony is an evil, EVIL man from Uganda who heads an infamous guerilla group called the Lord’s Resistance Army, or “LRA” for short.

Joseph Kony — who calls himself the official “spokesperson” of God, and even goes as far to consider himself the Holy Spirit — was indicted in 2005 for war crimes by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, and has spent the past 7 years evading capture.

Now, social media has taken upon itself to create a massive campaign called “Stop Kony,” in an extreme and global effort to make the indicted war criminal “famous” (or “infamous” — depending on who you ask) so that he can finally be captured and punished for his heinous crimes against humanity.

A California-based non-profit charity organization called “Invisible Children” is at the helm of the campaign, which says it wants to harness the power of the Internet to raise awareness and finally bring Joseph Kony to justice.

A documentary video, entitled “The KONY 2012 Documentary” has now become an Internet sensation after going viral this week, reaching over 40 million views in just 3 days.

Less than two days after its initial release, the video on YouTube and Vimeo had garnered almost 20 Million views. Most viewers have been referred from Facebook and are between 13 and 24 years of age.

The KONY 2012 Documentary was created by Invisible Children, whose mission is not to celebrate him, but to “raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice,” as stated in the video’s description on YouTube.

The documentary calls for a massive event on April 20th called “Cover the Night,” culminating in the form of hundreds of thousands of supporters placing posters and stickers in every city across America. These materials seek to make the name of Joseph Kony famous and eventually bring him to justice via awareness.

Instantly, “Cover the Night” events on Facebook were started and grew to many hundreds of members who each committed to take part in this effort on the night of April 20th.

The video states that when Kony is a household name, the US Government will have to keep American soldiers in Central Africa, on their mission to find Kony.

“In order for Kony to be arrested this year, the Ugandan military has to find him. In order for them to find him, they need the technology and training to find him in the vast jungle. That’s where the American advisors come in. But in order for the American advisors to be there, the US government has to deploy them. They’ve done that, but if the government doesn’t believe that the people care about arresting Kony, the mission will be canceled.
