Actors Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson were spotted on location in the Manhattan area of New York City filming scenes for their new movie, “The Other Guys” last Friday (Oct 23).

The action/comedy film, directed by Adam McKay, also stars Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg and Eva Mendes, and is expected to hit theaters sometime in August 2010.

PREMISE: Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg) are partnered NYPD detectives who work in the forensic accounting department and rarely see any action. Gamble is more than happy with his job while Hoitz has been assigned against his will after a public incident with his quick trigger finger. They idolize the city’s top cops Danson (Dwayne Johnson) and Manzetti (Samuel L. Jackson), but when an opportunity arises for Gamble and Hoitz to step up, things do not quite go as expected.

When I first laid eyes on the poster for Where the Wild Things Are, I was immediately turned off. I wasn’t too keen on the idea of watching a movie with a bunch of disturbing looking creatures for an hour and a half. I will admit that before this, I had no idea what this film was about.

Where the Wild Things Are is a children’s picture book that was published in 1963. The book has sold over 19 million copies worldwide and is a favorite amongst many children, teens, and adults. In the book, Max, a young boy who causes trouble one night, is sent to his room without supper. In his room, a forest and sea grow from his imagination and he is welcomed into the land of the Wild Things.

In the movie, Max does what any child would do when they are not getting attention – throw a tantrum. But he takes it a little too far when he jumps on the kitchen table and proceeds to bite his mother. Scared, he runs out of the house into the night, through the woods, and to the ocean where he climbs on a small boat and overcomes a storm to get to the land of the Wild Things.

The New York Times has a preview on the upcoming movie “Precious” directed by Lee Daniels (producer of Oscar-winning film “Monster’s Ball”). The movie stars Mo’Nique, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey, and newcomer Gabourey Sidibe, pictured above on the cover of the Times. The article explores not only the story of Precious but also process that it took to make this film. From having studios reject the story to casting Gabourey Sidibe and Mo’Nique as her “demon” mother. The article also goes into the inspiration behind the film. As the script was being written, Daniels began to figure out the financing of the movie. “Getting Sapphire’s permission was only half the challenge,” Daniels explained. “ ‘Shadowboxer’ hadn’t done so well, so I found myself back at Square 1. Michael Jackson’s new movie “This Is Set” is set to hit theaters nationwide next Wednesday (Oct 28) for a limited 2 week run and MTV has released 5 never before seen clips from the film! The movie snippets feature songs like “Human Nature,” “The Way You Make Me Feel, “They Don’t Care About Us” and more.

After watching these videos, it’s kind of sad to think about how the show will never really be seen in its “LIVE” form. We know Michael would have killed it. We know dude put on a good show during rehearsals, but imagine how amazing the concert would have been live in person with him performing in front of thousands of people! We were all geared up to get plane tickets to London and grab tickets for one of the February or March 2010 dates too. But we guess we have no choice but to settle on the “This Is It” movie, a close second best.

You’ve heard about it – it’s been on Facebook, it’s been on the Trending Topics on Twitter for weeks, and it’s cashing in millions more than its $11,000 budget. But is Paranormal Activity really that scary? The truth is…no, it’s not. Paranormal Activity tells the story of a couple, Katie and Micah, who have moved into a new home and begin to experience paranormal activities occurring in their home. After a few nights of these occurrences, Micah decides to buy a camera to capture the happenings on tape. And naturally, from then on, it only gets worse.

Like The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity is filmed documentary style and is meant to engage the viewer to make them feel as if they are in the situation. This is supposed to create more suspense for the viewer, which it does. The concept of the film is great and so is the plot, or at least, the little plot that the film has. I mean, how many times do you set up a camera in your bedroom and wake up to see clear evidence of a spirit in your house? With a film like this, you’d expect it to be cut throat scary. I’ve heard people walked out of the theaters because they couldn’t handle it. … Really?

The movie was created to take fans behind the scenes with the late King of Pop as he prepared for his upcoming tour, set to kick off just 2 weeks after his unexpected death. Above is the movie poster for Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” movie. The film will feature never before scene footage of the rehearsals for Jackson’s ill-fated “This Is It Tour,” directed by Kenny Ortega (High School Musical). You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at MJ and his creative team working on the tour, which was set to kick-off at the beginning of the summer at London’s O2 Arena. Every single date was SOLD OUT!

The film will run only for two weeks, starting on October 28th and tickets will go on sale Sunday, September 27th. In the meantime, visit the official website for more details.

That poster looks great and we will be standing in line for those tickets as soon as they go on sale! Those tickets are going to sell out quickly and we definitely expect this movie to break records. Will you be seeing this when it comes out?

The Wayans brothers are set to star in the sequel to their 2004 comedy “White Chicks.” Sony Pictures has picked up the project in which Marlon and Shawn Wayans are set to star in. The eldest Wayans brother Keenen will direct the sequel and all three of them will assist in writing the film.

The original “White Chicks” grossed almost double its budget cost with $70 million domestically.

Are you ready for another Wayans brothers movie? Usually with sequels like this, it’s either a hit or a miss. We’re hoping for a hit. The original White Chicks was absolutely hilarious! So let’s hope they don’t screw up the legacy with a sub-par sequel…

The movie will be based on the novel by Denene Millner, Angela Burt-Murray, and Mitzi Miller that follows three women who decide to be engaged within a year after attending a wedding.

The film will be adapted by screenwriter Nzingha Stewart and will be produced by Sony Pictures TV. Tracey Edmonds and Sheila Ducksworth will join Union as additional executive producers.

On Friday (Aug 7), LA Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff approved a deal to produce a movie from footage of Michael Jackson’s final rehearsals. The movie will feature not only his final rehearsals for the “This Is It” tour but also the videos prepared for display during the shows. Under the terms of the contract, the film cannot include any footage that will put Jackson in a bad light and will be screened by Jackson’s estate before its release.

It has been less than 36 hours since the newest installment from the billion dollar Harry Potter franchise hit theaters and it is already breaking records. It is even being reported that by the end of the month, it will surpass Bond as the number one movie franchise. It’s no doubt that these movies are brilliantly made…but is the hype for “Half-Blood Prince” over the top?

The first five Harry Potter films have had the feeling that there is something bigger to come and that a final battle is somewhere in the near future, waiting to happen. “Prince” isn’t any different. Lord Voldemort is back and his henchmen of Death Eaters are acting as terrorists, attacking both Wizards and Muggles alike. Starting the film with the destruction of the Millennium Bridge sets a sudden mood over the audience and makes it clear that the Wizarding World is at war. Harry returns to the school to find that headmaster Albus Dumbledore has a new task for him. A task that, if accomplished, will bring Voldemort one-step closer to his downfall. Traveling through a series of memories, Harry and Dumbledore step into the past to get a better glimpse at the boy Voldemort, also known as Tom Riddle.

“Terrorist leader” Ayman Abu Aita is furious over his portrayal in Sacha Baron Cohen’s new film Bruno. The Palestinian, who reportedly was involved with the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, is claiming that the film mislabels him and that Cohen conducted the interview under false pretenses. In fact, Aita holds on to claims that he is no longer involved with the organization and hasn’t been for years.

Aita, who is labeled in the movie as “terrorist group leader”, claims he was shocked when he learned that the film is about a homosexual character and contains scenes of graphic homosexual sex and full frontal male nudity. Cohen also stated last week on Letterman that Aita may have been carrying a weapon during the interview, a claim that Ayman Abu Aita disagrees with. He states that Cohen told him the film was going to help the Palestinian cause. He is threatening legal action.

Meanwhile, Bruno opened at #1 this weekend, pulling in over $30 million!

If you are an overly masculine straight man that’s so confident in who you are that you want nothing to do with a hint of homosexuality, do not see this movie! If you are gay and take extreme offense at overly flamboyant portrayals of gays, you should not see this movie! Brüno is more outrageous and offensive than its 2006 predecessor Borat.

Sacha Baron Cohen plays an extremely flamboyant fashionista who takes to Los Angeles for fame when he is sacked from his cable show “Funkyzeit.” While attempting to become “the most famous Austrian since Hitler,” Brüno, launches himself into a series of jaw-dropping acts; while some are funny, others fall short and feel staged and contrived.

If you’re under 17 and was hoping to see Sacha Baron Cohen’s new “Bruno” movie, you’re in luck! When the movie was initially presented to the Motion Picture Association of America, it was given the very risky (and very rare) NC-17 rating, meaning that even with a parent, you could not see the film if you are under 17. Naturally, the studio went back to the editing room and cut out parts of the film and blurred out some scenes, then presented it back to the MPAA for an appeal and the rating was brought down to “Restricted.”

This time around Pixar not only managed to take the audience on a ride full of emotion, humor and visual amazement, they did it in 3-D. Equip with a ticket stub and a pair of 3-D glasses both adult and child alike experienced the wonders of the South American terrain, the heartache in an old mans tale, the innocence of a child’s ambition, the predictable mind of a dog and the excitement of an epic adventure.

The new “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” movie is definitely worth a look! This adaptation of the X- Men story is the best so far. All the mysteries are finally revealed in this one as director Gaven Hood takes us on a ride though the haunting and troubling past of Wolverine, explaining everything from his solid antemium core to the origins of his name, and even his unexplainable memory loss. As if answering all the cliffhanging questions about Wolverine wasn’t enough, Hood managed to intertwine the past of Wolverine with that of other mutants such as Sabertooth, Gambit, Night Crawler, Deadpool, Beak, Blob and even Cyclops.

Mary J. Blige has landed herself a new acting gig in Tyler Perry’s next Lionsgate film, “I Can Do Bad All By Myself,” set to release to theaters September 11th 2009. The film will also star Oscar nominated actress Taraji P. Henson.

Based on Perry’s stage play of the same name, the film centers around Blige’s character Tanya, a nightclub manager, and her good friend April, played by Henson. Also part of the cast is Perry’s comedic alter ego, Madea. Principal photography is already under way at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.

Blige is also set to guest in a popular primetime television series, which will be announced at a later date. She previously appeared on HBO’s “Entourage” in 2007. The singer/songwriter is recording songs as well for the follow-up to her 2007 Matriarch/Geffen album, “Growing Pains.” The new album slated for release later this year.

It’s being reported that rapper 50 Cent has replaced legendary actor Forest Whitaker in Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming all-star cast film “The Expendables.” Whitaker reportedly had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

According to Sly’s letter sent to AintItCool.com, though there are some who are displeased over 50 Cent’s taking over the role, he’s sticking with the decision. He wrote, “Trust me, the change of Forest Whitaker to 50 Cent AKA Curtis Jackson is a good one.”

“Nobody wanted Eric Roberts over Ben Kingsley, but I believe it’s a vastly improved cast. The point is, you either believe in me and the project, setting your personal feelings aside, or you take a darker approach, which really serves no purpose since your insight and suggestions and overall are a great thrill for me to behold everyday I sign on.”

Actor Columbus Short is set to star in Sylvian White’s latest film, The Losers, which is based on a DC Vertigo war comic book. Short admits to never having read the comic book before but has recently taken up the hobby. One would think that Short would be reluctant to take on a role such as this, but despite any short comings, Short puts all his faith and hope into the hands of White, claiming that Stomp The Yard was a clear demonstration of White’s talent and to expect big things seeing how this go round White has a big budget with Dark Castle Entertainment. Short played “DJ” in the 2007 film.

‘Losers’ centers around a Special Forces team, who are set up and betrayed by their enigmatic handler, Max, who soon discovers that you should never leave a bunch of black-ops commandos for dead. The Losers regroup for revenge, and to get their names off a pesky CIA death list. For issue after issue, they conducted covert operations against the CIA, and sought to uncover the plans and conspiracies of the powerful, secretive Max.

In the film Short will be playing the role of “Captain William Storm.” Assisting him will be Jeffrey Dean Morgan (”Clay”) and none other than Sylvian White himself, who will be playing the role of a character named “Pooch.”

Still in the phases of pre-production, The Losers is set to begin filming in June 2009 and is expected to be released sometime in 2011.

Don’t front like those Harry Potter books weren’t the sh*t back in the day. Here’s the latest teaser trailer for the latest film installment in the popular book series – Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. By the looks of the teaser, the movie looks to be pretty intense! This is the official movie teaser for Sony Pictures’ Cadillac Records. The film depicts the life of the influential Chicago-based record-company executive Leonard Chess, and the legendary singers who recorded for Chess Records. Notorious isn’t set to hit theater’s until January 2009, but the teaser has already been making it’s way around the net! The film based around the life and death of Brooklyn rapper Biggie Smalls/Notorious B.I.G. The film features Angela Bassett as Voletta Wallace, Derek Luke as Diddy, Anthony Mackie as Tupac, Sen Ringgold as Suge Knight, Antonique as Faithe Evans, Naturi Naughton as Lil’ Kim, and stars Jamal Woolard as Biggie Smalls. I’m curious to see how Biggie’s death was filmed, everyone knows the case is still a unsolved homicide. Disney has released a teaser trailer for their highly anticipated movie The Princess and the Frog! The film based off the fairy tale, but is set in New Orleans during the 1920s and feature Disney’s first Black princess Tiana. The film features voices by Jennifer Lewis, Angela Bassett, Keith David, and Dreamgirls star Anika Nona Rose. The film isn’t set to hit theater’s until December 2009, but hopefully the teaser will give you something to look forward to until then.

Here is another film to look out for by Universal Pictures! The time setting is Terminal Island, New York, 2020. A five-time NASCAR champion [Jason Statham] is convicted or “framed” for the crime of killing his wife and is sent to this overcrowded penitentiary where the inmates have to literally kill one another in the race to freedom. Tyrese Gibson will also appear in this new film as a character named “Machine-Gun Joe”. This trailer is so raw! Watch the trailer up above. You can catch this film in theaters August 22nd!

The 6th Harry Potter movie, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” doesn’t hit theaters for another 4 months, but a teaser trailer has been released and you can check it out above. Don’t front like you don’t like Harry Potter, lol! The movie will be released November 21st.

This is the official movie trailer for Overbrook Entertainments’ Lakeview Terrace starring Samuel L. Jackson and the lovely Kerry Washington. The movie is about a young couple that has just moved into their California dream home when they become the target of their next-door neighbor, who disapproves of their interracial relationship. Lakeview Terrace is scheduled to be realeased September 19th! Looks like it’s going to be good, can’t wait for it to come out!

I posted the trailer yesterday, and I’m posting a few exclusive clips from the movie today. The first clip is titled “Bunk Beds.” Dale (John C. Riley) and Brennan (Will Ferrell) ask their parents if it’s okay for the two of them to clear some space in their room for “activities,” but the only way to do that would be to make their beds into bunkbeds. So the two of them grab some powertools and get to work. But little did they know, it takes more than a little drilling and hammering to make sturdy bunkbeds. The cast of Showtime’s Soul Food is back with Soul Food: The Final Season, the final 14 episodes of the critically acclaimed series are finally coming to DVD! Here are some newly released movies that we’ve seen and recommend you go out and see too!

You give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. You give an alcoholic, nonchalant guy some superpowers, and you end up with a wrecked city. A popular movie release this week was “Hancock,” which starred Will Smith. Hancock hit theaters Wednesday (July 2nd), which is particularly unusual for a movie, since most theatrical releases are on Friday. Anyway, I planned on seeing the movie last night but something came up and I didn’t get a chance to make it to the movies. So here’s the official synopsis from Sony Pictures:

There are heroes… there are superheroes… and then there’s Hancock (Will Smith). With great power comes great responsibility – everyone knows that – everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock’s well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. Above is the official trailer for the new movie, Righteous Kill, which stars 50 Cent, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. The movie is slated for a September 12th 2008 release!

Having seen all of Tyler Perry’s stage productions makes me a Tyler Perry fan, I guess you can say. So I was thrilled when I heard that he’d be making a movie out of “Meet the Browns,” which happens to be one of my favorite plays from Tyler! I guess he wasn’t playing when he said he’d be making a movie out of all of his past stage plays. “Meet the Browns” stars Angela Basset, Jenifer Lewis, Rick Fox, and of course, writer AND director Tyler Perry. The movie is set to hit theaters March 21st 2008! Now all I need is a movie for “Madea Goes to Jail,” and I’m set, Lol.

Multi-award winning actor Denzel Washington stars as Melvin B. Tolson, a professor at Wiley College Texas, in a film called The Great Debaters, based on a true life story. In the film Denzel Washington (Melvin B. Tolson) inspires his students to form the school’s first debate team, leading to 3 of the team’s members, Jurnee Smollett (Samantha), Nate Parker (Henry Low) and Denzel Whitaker (James Farmer Jr), to go on and challenge, a then-predominately white school, Harvard University for the national championship in 1935. Both inspiring and enlightening this film will leave you giving standing ovations, Washington, Smollett, Parker and Whitaker owned that movie! I went through so many different emotions whilst watching, I got sad, happy, angry; there are a lot of pivotal moments in The Great Debaters.

Here’s the official theatrical trailer for Will Smith’s latest movie to hit theaters in 2008, “Hancock.” In Hancock, Will Smith plays a superhero named Hancock who’s fallen on hard times, and when he hires a PR exec to correct his image, Hancock ends up falling for the guy’s wife, who is played by actress Charlize Theron.

OK, so, I finally got to see Robert Zemeckis’ Beowulf this weekend at the movie theaters. I felt I just had to make up for missing Transformers, call me a sucker for fantasy, but it was nothing as I anticipated it to be. Beowulf, which stars Angelina Jolie opposite Ray Winstone, appeared set in a mediaeval atmosphere in accordance with the Old English and overall attire. The movie started off a tad bit vague for me, everything was bits and pieces until the ending; which grasped my mere forethoughts but only leaving a visible unclearness in the latter. It was still, nonetheless, a heart-ponding, havoc wreaking movie. I say, the moral of the story here is vanity has its downfall, meaning pride is a curse, being one of the 7 deadly sins and all. This seems as though the only conclusion I can come to culmination with. I really enjoyed scenes, though. The visuals, artistry, and definition were flawless, as Zemeckis’ films always are (Polar Express). 4.5/5

SYNOPSIS
