Before helping his team defeat the Indiana Pacers and end their playoff run Thursday night (May 24) in Game 6 … Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat already had people talking, and it had nothing to do with his skills on the court.

Dressed in a white button-up shirt and a pair of hot pink pants (and matching pink/white sneakers), the NBA player made one hell of a fashion statement as he made his way into the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. (See below)

Rick Kamla from NBA TV called Wade’s choice of wardrobe a “flagrant fashion foul,” but the Heat guard embraced the criticism in the post-game interview.

“I know they’re killing me in the studio over my pants,” he said. “And they’re just mad they can’t pull it off.”

Accroding to ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, even Dwyane’s own teammate LeBron James made fun of him before the game.

LeBron James: “Damn, for real, those are close-out pants? And the finger sleeve?”

Dwyane Wade: “You gotta coordinate.”

James: “You look like Eddie Murphy in the ’80s”

Wade: “Eddie Murphy wishes he looked like me.”

After he changed into his basketball gear, Dwyane Wade went on to score 41 points and 10 rebounds, assisting his teammates in their 105 to 93 victory over the Pacers. Not too bad for a guy who wears hot pink pants.

Chaka Khan — who is celebrating a recent 60-pound weight loss — hit the stage Wednesday night (May 23) during the live “American Idol” finale wearing a sparkly, figure-hugging catsuit just like Fantasia. But Chaka actually looked good in hers. (Sorry, Tasia!)

The 59-year-old music legend performed a medley of her hits, including “Ain’t Nobody” and “Through the Fire” and also joined in with other female “Idol” finalists for a big group performance of “I’m Every Woman.” (Watch below)

Despite giving birth two weeks ago, Jessica Simpson is not letting motherhood get in the way of her multimillion dollar business empire.

The new mother to baby girl Maxwell Drew just announced plans to launch her own maternity line, fittingly named “Jessica Simpson Maternity.”

The collection, which has a 1970’s vintage feel, will be available this coming fall at stores like Motherhood Maternity, Macy’s and Destination Maternity.

“I’m so excited to partner with Destination Maternity to design a collection of fashionable styles that make you look and feel great” Simpson said. “You want to wear clothes that are flattering to your baby bump; you want to show your bump off,” she explained.

The line will include denim, blazers, jackets, sweaters, maxi dresses and printed tops, with prices starting at just $36.

Legendary hair stylist and fashion icon Vidal Sassoon — who is credited with creating famous haircuts like the “bob” (aka the “pixie cut”) — died Wednesday (May 9) from an unspecified illness at his home in Hollywood.

Vidal was reportedly diagnosed with leukemia in 2009, though it’s unclear if the disease played a role in his death.

Vidal Sassoon grew up in England, where his mother, who was a single parent, placed him and his brother in a Jewish orphanage for seven years because she wasn’t able to provide for them.

He told the Telegraph of his rough childhood in a 2011 interview:

“First of all what we truly have to look at is the situation. I was born in 1928 and by 1931 the Depression was beginning to mount. My father had left us, my brother, and myself. We were in Shepherd’s Bush, but we were being evicted, we had nowhere to go.”

Sassoon later fought in the Israeli army before he began training as a hairdresser.

By 1954, he had opened his first hair salon in London, and in 1973 he launched his own line of hair care products with the now-famous slogan, “If you don’t look good, we don’t look good.”

Sassoon was married four times, most recently to a woman named Rhonda, who he wed in 1992. The couple lived together up until his death.

In addition to his wife, Vidal Sassoon is also survived by his three children from a previous marriage. His daughter Catya — a mother of three — preceded him in death in 2002 at age 33 of a drug-induced heart attack.

Vidal Sassoon was 84 years old.

Kim Kardashian attended her good “friend” Kanye West‘s fashion show Tuesday (Mar 6) during Paris Fashion Week, and she was wearing one of those expensive pairs of Guiseppe Zanotti heels straight from Kanye’s new womenswear line.

“I j’adore my shoes tonight!” the fashion forward reality star tweeted about her pricey pumps, which are made of calf leather and embroidered pearls, and cost about $6,000. She paired the heels with beige tights, a white top and a fur shawl.

R&B singer Alicia Keys was also spotted at Kanye’s fashion show, and posed for a quick photo with Kim.

Overall, the 2012 Oscars were pretty boring, but thanks to Angelina Jolie and her right leg, we all had something to talk about as the uneventful show went on.

Dressed in an all-black velvet Versace Atelier gown with a thigh-length slit on the side, Angelina Jolie proudly showed off her right leg, striking a memorable pose, with her hand on the opposite side of her hip.

“You could hear people giggling when she did it on the carpet,” a senior producer for the Academy Awards told Rob Shuter from HuffPo Celebrity. “It was clearly Brad’s night, he was the one nominated for an award, yet at the same time, she made the whole night about herself by posing in that crazy fashion. One thing is for sure, you know that pose is going to pop up on every late night show and ‘SNL.’”

Angelina maintained her leggy pose on stage as well, making sure that she flaunted her right leg just enough while presenting an award during the show.

Her stance was so obvious that Oscar award recipient Jim Rash, a screenwriter and part of the writing time from “The Descendants,” mocked the actress while receiving the award that she presented to him.

Rash — who also plays Dean Pelton on NBC’s “Community” told EW that he couldn’t resist after watching Jolie’s consistent poses.

“Honestly, as soon as I saw her pose like that, I was like, ‘I’m going to do that’…I knew ['The Descendants' director] Alexander [Payne] was going to take the reins, so I was like, ‘How can I make a moment?’ — selfishly,” laughed Rash.

“I almost thought it was a little Dean Pelton, somehow. I was bringing it all together. Because I have stood like that [on Community].”

Angelina’s famous leg pose has also spawned its own Twitter account that currently has over 20,000 followers.

“Great meeting most of you for the first time last night at the Oscars!!” tweets @AngiesRightLeg. “Left leg and I talked — everything’s cool. Next Oscars, she gets the slit.”

Every year, near the end of February, the world — or at least some of it — turns to Hollywood for its biggest night: The Academy Awards.

This year was no exception, with a show that’s controversy started months before the red carpet was laid, when the producer and host were abruptly pulled from the show, shocking insiders and fans alike.

Eddie Murphy’s title as host of the 84th presentation of the Oscars was short lived, as Billy Crystal became the new host after Murphy decided against going forward without his producing partner, Brett Ratner, who’d been ousted because of offensive comments made on a radio show.

This year’s show will undoubtedly be critiqued with as many disparaging words as positive ones. There were many moments to remember, from award winners accepting their gold Oscar, to moments on the red carpet that are memorable for reasons of fashion or just plain shock.

Here’s my take on the highlights of the show:

A colorful Nicki Minaj performed her hit single “Super Bass” as the Young Money femcee and a slew of sexy runway models closed out the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which was held earlier this month (Wed. Nov 9) in New York, and aired on TV last night (Tue. Nov 29) on CBS.

After performing with Jay-Z … Kanye West returned to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2011 runway solo and performed “Stronger,” which he dedicated to his mother who passed away in 2007.

“In 2007 I was suppose to perform this song on this show but I lost my superhero, now she’s my super angel,” Kanye said to the audience at the beginning of his performance.

Rappers Kanye West and Jay-Z — collectively known as “The Throne” — hit the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which aired on TV last night, and performed an energetic rendition of their latest single “N**gas in Paris,” while a pregnant Beyonce watched and sang along from the audience.

Maroon 5 gave a performance of their hit “Moves Like Jagger” during the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which aired on CBS Tuesday night (Nov 29).

At one point during the performance, the band’s lead singer Adam Levine breaks away from the group when his girlfriend, Victoria’s Secret model Anne V, hits the runway … and the pair walk hand-in-hand down the catwalk just before Levine plants a kiss on her cheek. (Aww!)

Lady Gaga made headlines this week after the Pop star showed up at the International Emmys Monday night (Nov 21) in a long black dress designed by Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture in France that exposed her leg, upper thigh and her butt cheek.

But apparently … the dress wasn’t made that way!

A rep for the designer revealed that the asymmetrical gown came right off the catwalk, and was intended to be worn by a model much taller than Gaga. “The slit came way further up her waist than what our designers had in mind,” the rep told TMZ.

“We’re not mad that the dress ended up looking like that on Gaga … she does make it a little naughtier!” Stéphane Rolland joked.

Rappers Kanye West, Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj, as well as rock band Maroon 5, all lended their musical talents to the runway of the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, held last Wednesday (Nov 9) in New York.

After performing his hit “Stronger” and dedicating it to his mom, the late Donda West, who he called his “superangel,” Kanye West was joined onstage by Jay-Z for their first televised performance of “N**gas In Paris,” the next single from their collaboration album “Watch the Throne.”

Next came Maroon 5, who performed their hit “Moves Like Jagger” as the models strutted their stuff down the runway.

Front-man Adam Levine broke away from the band when his girlfriend Anne V. hit the runway, and he serenaded her as the pair walked hand-in-hand down the catwalk.

And last but not least was femcee Nicki Minaj, who helped close out the show with a performance of her hit single “Super Bass.”

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will air on Tuesday, November 29th at 10 pm ET on CBS.

The 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was taped in New York City at the Lexington Avenue Armory Wednesday night (Nov 9) for a TV special that will air on CBS later this month.

The pink carpet featured appearances from various celebs like TV personality Lala Anthony, R&B singer Maxwell, Hip-Hop mogul and philanthropist Russell Simmons, actor Cuba Gooding Jr., model Tyson Beckford and Maroon 5 front-man Adam Levine.

Supermodels Chanel Iman and Miranda Kerr looked absolutely stunning as they ripped the runway, showing off the brand’s newest and sexiest styles of lingerie, with Kerr walking down the runway wearing the $2.5 million diamond-studded bra designed by London Jewelers.

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airs Tuesday, November 29th at 10 pm ET on CBS.

Kanye West has been making lots of headlines recently for his choice of attire while performing with Jay-Z for their “Watch the Throne” Tour.

Making one of the biggest fashion statements in the world of Hip-Hop to date, the controversial rapper has been spotted wearing a long, leather skirt that he covers up with a long-fitting t-shirt (almost as long as the skirt) on all of he and Jay-Z’s tour dates.

The tour has so far stopped in places like Atlanta, New Jersey, Washington, D.C. and more recently New York City’s famous Madison Square Garden.

Surprised at Yeezy’s choice of fashion, a Huffington Post contributor wrote, “We were surprised to see Yeezy assume his macho position as World’s Biggest Hip Hop Star at Madison Square Garden in the unexpected look.”

Another blogger wrote on fashion website TheGloss.com, “It’s interesting that Kanye’s skirt is a little subversive in his super machismo’ed out field of Hip-Hop.”

After debuting his new women’s wear fashion line Dw by Kanye West at Paris Fashion Week, the “Power” rapper had a few things to get off his chest about all the negative criticism he has been receiving.

“I’m feeling good.[...]Thank you for anybody that didn’t believe, because they motivated us to break our boundaries. We don’t know what the reviews will be, we don’t know what they will say, but I got a chance to go to Italy and feel those fabrics. I begged Louis Vuitton to let me do more shoes after my shoes sold out in two weeks, and they did not. I begged Nike, I begged this company to let me do it. And I took out motherf—ing loans to get the best models, to get the best designers, to get the best venue. I gave you everything that I had.

“This is my first collection. Please be easy. Please give me a chance to grow. This is not some celebrity s—. I don’t f— with celebrities. I f— with the creatives in this room, the amazing people who spend every day of their life trying to make the world a more beautiful place.

“The amount of people that tried to get me a celebrity f—ing deal. They said, ‘You need to do boot-cut jeans, or you won’t sell.’ Shut the f— up ! Fashion’s Night Out is arguably the biggest event held during New York Fashion Week to kick-off the week-long festivities. It’s when celebs pile into hundreds and hundreds of stores across the country (mainly in New York City) after hours, and pose for pictures, do press, hang out with their celebrity friends and do some late-night shopping.

Held last Thursday night (Sep 8), this year’s Fashion’s Night Out featured appearances from many celebrities, including Solange, Chanel Iman, Nicole Richie, Mary J. Blige, Rachel Roy, Amare Stoudemire, Angela Simmons, Dwyane Wade, Ne-Yo, Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen, and more!

Naomi Campbell put her bad attitude to the side and did some good earlier this week as she hosted her annual Fashion for Relief fundraiser Monday (May 16) in Cannes, France. The 6th annual event was held to raise money for Japan relief efforts following the devastation the island country suffered at the hands of a massive earthquake earlier this year.

“I felt very passionate to try and help in whatever way possible, to do our part and to support at this time. I hope that the money raised from Fashion for Relief in Cannes will support those who need it most,” Naomi said at the event.

After flaunting his love for fashion in his songs and sporting the latest trends every chance he gets, it comes as no surprise that Kanye West is set to design a line of scarves.

The rapper turned fashion designer will collaborate with French designers Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag, otherwise known as M/M, to release a line of silk scarves, which are said to be inspired by the album artwork of his latest release, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

The 250 limited edition scarves will be released this spring and will bring together elements of the album’s cover images and liner notes that were created by artist, George Condo. You can find West’s handy-work at Colette and mmparis.com once they’re available for sale.
