LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA // THURSDAY, SEPT. 4TH 2008 » The 2008 BMI Urban Awards went down Thursday night and was a big night in the Black Music Industry. Three major awards were handed out that night to, Songwriter of the Year, T-Pain, Producer of the Year, Kanye West, and Janet Jackson presented the BMI Icon Award to her brothers The Jacksons 5. Usher attended the 2008 NFL Kickoff Press Conference yesterday in New York. He will be performing a series of songs from his latest album Here I Stand. Usher is supposedly performing “Here I Stand”, “Trading Places, and “What’s Your Name” with guest star Will.I.Am. Usher also doesn’t want to waste anytime and perform at the upcoming Superbowl in February:

“I don’t think it’s too early to consider it,” said Usher, “Certainly being associated with the organization makes that a lot more possible. There have been conversations for a lot of years about me being part of a performance at a Super Bowl.” Usher added. “I’m hoping that this leads, definitely, to that. This whole process is basically you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.”

Oh, say does the star spangled banner yet wave! Team USA took the gold against the final contender which was Spain. They’ve came a long way with one of the best line-ups seen in the Olympics in awhile. It was a great race towards the gold and it was definitely worth it. Team USA won by 11 (118-107). The match against Spain wasn’t as elementary as they would’ve hoped but it still didn’t road block the way to the main prize.
