They Said What?!: Janet/Usher/Lil Wayne

Janet Jackson recently talked her new book, “Me”, that’ll be in stores in November at a press conference and her new “Rock Withchu” Tour. Someone asked Janet about the next single. Janet responded:

“That’s pretty difficult to say, only because of the record label at this point. We started off with “Feedback” and the label and myself haven’t quite seen eye to eye since the “Feedback” single so they’ve kind of basically stopped all promotion. I’m trying to figure out a way to say this, but just to say it and to be quite honest, they just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album so I don’t think you’re going to hear another single off this album.”

The Celtics Win Game 2

The Boston Celtics wins at home against the Los Angeles Lakers again in Game 2 by 6 (108-102). The Celtics definitely got some luck of the leprechauns and 4-leaf clovers last night. The Celtics are leading the series (2-0)! I expected the Celtics to win at The Garden but never did I think two in a row! The Lakers need to step their game up. I think it’ll definitely be better in Game 3. Paul Pierce totaled 28 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds. Kevin Garnett put up 17 points and 14 rebounds. Rajon Rondo contributed 16 assists and 6 rebounds. Pierce responded about the win last night:

“We’re happy because we won, but we definitely learned a lesson,” Pierce said.

Nas - Hero

New music from Nas‘ rechanged controversial album, “N”, supposed to be named, “Nigger”. This new track, “Hero” featuring Keri Hilson is the first single from his upcoming album. This track is produced by the infamous Polow Da Don. I like the fact that Nas is back because Hip Hop is in serious need for real rappers. I can tell this is definitely a new track because Nas raps near the end, “No matter what the CD is called, I’m unbeatable ya’ll.” Nas’s ninth studio album is due in stores July 1st.

I know many people may only look at Keri Hilson as a girl that sung in a few featured tracks and cameo’d in a few videos but she is definitely more than that. She has written over 40 songs for some of our favorite artists today. Some of the tracks she has written were Ciara’s “Ooh Baby”, Chris Brown’s “Young Love”, 3LW’s “Feelin’ You”, Avant’s “4 Minutes” and more! She is definitely a beautiful and talented artists that has a voice. Keri Hilson’s debut album, In A Perfect World (Interscope), is due in stores this September. Keri’s new single “Energy” is now available on iTunes. Check out the video above for more on Keri Hilson!

Benson Cedric Arrested

Chicago Bears quarterback Cedric Benson was arrested for the second time for drunk driving in Austin, Texas yesterday. He was also ordered by his team to not consume alcohol to protect him from a situation like this. To me, looking at this picture, it seems a though he was tickled about this arrest. Cedric’s career isn’t looking too promising with the Chicago Bears either. Benson’s attorney spoke on the recent accusations and said:

“He’s probably in trouble with his team for breaking curfew and having anything to drink under the circumstances.”

Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced his retirement eariler this week after a decline for the Welterweight Championship rematch. Mayweather has joked about his retirement for a while but this time, it seems as though he’s serious. I doubt if he doesn’t comeback and makes everyone tune in to an “exclusive first time back since retirement match”. I personally think it’s too early. Leaving at the top of your game like that. Tell me what you guys think! Leave a comment.

MTV sat down with Ashanti and interviewed her for their webcasts on the First Ladies in pop culture. They took Ashanti back on a lot her 1st “firsts”. I thought it was a pretty good interview check it out above.

The Declaration In Stores Now!

Ashanti is back with a new longly anticpated album, The Declaration. This album is not what I expected, but in a very good way. Ashanti has came out of the box and broaden her lyrics and melodies. This album is an R&B album but it’s an upbeat album that doesn’t give you a lot “ballads” which I feel would be a good thing especially listening to new music from Ashanti. I listened to Diddy’s philosophy on new tracks. Ashanti definitely passed the “5 second rule”. Ashanti collaborated with many great producers on this new project. She’s worked with Kanye West, Jermaine Dupri, Akon, BabyFace, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, and more. The first single, “The Way That I Love You” which is still in heavy rotation on the radio was one of the hottest singles and videos of 2008. Some of the tracks on this album that stood out the most would be, “In These Streets”, “Things You Make Me Do” featuring Robin Thicke, “Good Good”, and “Shine”. This is a great return for Ashanti. If you haven’t picked up this album it’s now in stores on iTunes.
