A statement was released late Tuesday (Mar. 3rd) from Usher’s camp apologizing for comments he made towards fellow singer Chris Brown in a video posted to YouTube by Jermaine Dupri.
“The comments made during a recent recording session amongst friends were taken out of context and blown out of proportion,” the statement reads. “I apologize on behalf of myself and my friends if anyone was offended. The intentions were not to pass judgment and we meant no harm. I respect and wish the best for all parties involved.”
The comments regarded pictures of Brown that emerged over the weekend, which showed him riding a jet ski during what was called his “reconciliation” weekend in Miami with girlfriend Rihanna.
Here’s the official GOT video premiere of “Prom Queen,” the latest music video from rapper Lil’ Wayne, who’s dropping a new album, The Rebirth, on May 19th, according to OnSmash.com. Rumors swirled about the Internet this weekend saying that the album would be pushed back or even worse, dropped altogether. But apparently, those rumors are false and we can all expect a new “rock-inspired” album from Weezy this Spring! Peep the music video for Prom Queen above.
A former Cash Money Records producer named Tristan “T Mix” Jones is suing the label for over $2 million, claiming that he’s owed that much from them for his work with several of their artists including Birdman and their biggest artist, Lil Wayne.
In a federal lawsuit, Jones claims he signed an exclusive production contract with Cash Money Records in November 2005. Between 2005 and 2007, Cash Money allegedly released more than 40 master recordings produced by Jones on hit albums such as “5 * Stunna,” “Like Father Like Son,” “Fast Money,” and “Tha Carter II.”
In exchange for Jones’ exclusive production services, Jones says Cash Money promised to pay production royalties on the suggested retail list price. Cash Money has sold well over 3 million album copies in the United States and Canada alone, Jones claims, and has received at least $30 million from his recordings. Jones says Cash Money owes him at least $2.25 million, but has paid him only about $187,000. Jones seeks damages for breach of contract in Federal Court. He is represented by Robert Johnston of Fowler, Rodriguez.
Relatives and close friends to singer Rihanna have spoken out about their distaste for her quick reconciliation with Chris Brown saying bluntly that “no one wants them back together” and they think they should take a break and cool off.
“Everyone wants them to take a break, to cool off,” a relative of Rihanna tells People after the pair returned to Los Angeles together early Monday morning. “No one wants them back together.”
Family thought that the relationship was over after Brown allegedly battered Rihanna on Feb. 8. The couple went their own ways for awhile – he went home, while she recuperated in Barbados and Mexico – but the separation was short-lived. The pair reunited in Miami last weekend, spending time at the Star Island mansion of Sean “Diddy” Combs. A source close to the couple told People that the couple was “definitely together” and working on a reconciliation.
“I’m concerned,” continues the relative. “I don’t want her to make a mistake, and I don’t want her to ever go through this again.”
What do you get someone who has everything? Something really expensive, right? Something really REALLY, expensive right? Well, how about Tyler Perry plans on purchasing an entire island when he turns 40 in September. While he hasn’t figured up a name for his private get-away yet, he’s already revealed that it won’t have anything to do with his more than famous name. Why? Because he’s sick of seeing it every where!
“I’m a loner by nature, so when I’m out there on these islands, I just feel like the only person in the world,” says Perry, whose latest film, Madea Goes to Jail, grossed a whopping $41 million its opening weekend.nAfter recently spending a week vacationing on a private island in the Great Exumas in the Bahamas, he admits it’s not all relaxation: “Renting an island is the best place for me to work uninterrupted.”
What will he call his own private isle? “It won’t be Tyler Perry’s Island!” he laughs. “I’m so sick of seeing Tyler Perry all over everywhere!” Instead, he’ll wait until he’s inspired by the exotic locale, which he hasn’t quite decided on yet. “It’ll speak to me,” he says. “I’ll know what to call it once I’m there.” But he will put one rule into full effect: “There will be no paparazzi on my island!” he declares.
We pray to God this won’t begin some ridiculously expensive trend amongst the rich celebrities. We could see celebrities doing something like this just to get away from the nosy paparazzi’s flashing lights.
According to reports published by Entertainment Weekly, famous movie director Bill Condon is currently shopping around an idea for a new biopic about the life of the late Richard Pryor. Actor/comedian Eddie Murphy has been hand picked by Condon to portray the Pryor, who died of a heart attack in December 2005.
Writer/director Bill Condon, who just completed his debut run as producer of the 2009 Academy Awards, is shopping his script Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said? to the studio subsidiaries and independent distributors around town. Eddie Murphy is attached to star. Sources tell EW.com that Fox Searchlight, the studio behind this year’s big Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire, is interested in the film. The studio, which declined comment, has a relationship with Condon, having partnered with the director on his 2004 feature Kinsey.
Condon, who most recently wrote and directed Dreamgirls, had the Pryor biopic set up at The Weinstein Company but was able to pull it out when the indie outfit put it into turnaround. He initially was hoping to secure $30 million to produce the film, but that number, sources say, has dropped down to $25 million. Murphy, who has featured Pryor impersonations in his act as far back as the 1987 concert movie Raw, seems a likely choice for this role.
Lil Kim told The Insider that she is a huge fan of Dancing With the Stars and she and her homegirls from prison to watch the popular series together while they were in the clink. She even mentioned how they convinced her to be on the show!
“I’m a huge fan!” she said. “When I was in prison, me and my girls used to watch it. My girls were like, ‘Kim, you need to be on that show.’ In prison you have to all agree what shows you watch. If we can’t agree, it doesn’t get watched. Everyone watched it faithfully. It’s like the #1 show in prison!”
So Kim just openly admitted to taking the advice of prison inmates. Nice…
Catch her and her partner Derek Hough on Dancing With the Stars Mondays at 8/7c only on ABC.
Here’s what singer Whitney Houston had to say to Rihanna, following the release of a graphic photo of the 21-year-old singer’s battered face after her alleged fight with boyfriend Chris Brown. She’s basically telling her to not take him back. Too late for that, right?
“Don’t make the same mistakes I did. Whenever you let your heart rule your head, you are bound to run into trouble,” Houston said in a statement to Hollyscoop.com.
It was reported last week that fallen rapper (yes, sad we know) DMX, who is currently serving a 90-day prison sentence in Maricopa, Arizona, had allegedly assaulted a prison guard following a verbal dispute. Apparently, the correctional officer said some things DMX didn’t like and the rapper allegedly threw a tray of food at the officer, which subsequently resulted in DMX being rebooked on suspicion of aggravated assault with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. But the rapper denied the allegations saying that they were just another attempt to destroy his credibility.
“Many of you know me as DMX but right now I am speaking to you as Earl Simmons,” he told TMZ. “For the record, I want to state I did not physically touch or hit an officer. This is just another attempt to destroy my credibility.”
So what say you, GOT? Do we believe him or does he need more people? We’re going to go with him needing more people. That negroid has gone off the deep end. He couldn’t even keep his cool for 90 days, SMH…
