After years of flops, mishaps and ghetto mess, it looks like Fantasia may finally have her groove back.
Fantasia Barrino was one of the original winners on “American Idol” and her backstory just made you wanna root for her. Her debut album was a safe, conservative effort and the record label did a good job of keeping Fannie’s bird feathers hidden from plain sight. But subsequent projects have seen the veneer and polish of Hollywood melt away from Fantasia’s public image.
Her baby daddy drama from the past few years sealed the deal and practically made the singer a pariah in R&B circles. But now she’s back with a new album and her latest single, “Without Me,” is a stunner. And the video for it doesn’t disappoint either.
Featuring former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland, Fantasia turns up her sex appeal and shows off her post-baby body. Kelly Rowland fires up her sex kitten engines and purrs to the beat. Missy Elliott is thrown into the mix too, though she’s really unneeded. Especially since she’s still rapping about d**k when we know she’s all about the puss.
If Fantasia had a bigger budget, “Without Me” would feature Nicki Minaj instead of Missy, but oh well. If you can’t work with the one you love, love the one you’re working with.
