Jermaine Paul Wins NBC’s “The Voice” Season 2

May 9, 2012 by The Master Chief

Following an intense battle of teams led by Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, “The Voice” has crowned its Season 2 winner.

Representing Team Blake, fan favorite Jermaine Paul — a former back-up singer for R&B singer Alicia Keys — was the last man standing in Tuesday night’s (May 8) season finale on NBC.

After Jermaine’s name was announced by host Carson Daly as the winner, the singer — who will take home a $100 cash prize and a Universal Republic Records recording contract — gave a ‘thank you’ speech, and hugged his family members, friends, fellow contestants and the other judges.

With a tear running down his cheek, Jermaine said, “I just wanna say thank you to everybody that voted for me … Nobody but Jesus, man,” before he closed out the show with an emotional encore performance of R. Kelly‘s “I Believe I Can Fly,” which he performed Monday night, likely securing his big win.
