Amar’e Stoudemire couldn’t put out the Heat …. so he punched a fire extinguisher instead!!

Last night, the New York Knicks basketball star severely cut his left hand after he had a temper tantrum following the team’s loss to the Miami Heat 104-94 in Game 2 of the NBA Playoffs.

According to several media outlets, Amare punched a fire extinguisher case on his way to the locker room, and had to be treated by the paramedics. Witnesses to the incident reported that there was “a lot of blood.”

Stoudemire left the America Airlines Arena with his arm in a sling and his hand bandaged. At this time, his status for Game 3 is unknown.

Amare tweeted about the incident later on last night and apologized to his teammates and fans:

“I am so mad at myself right now, I want to apologize to the fans and my team, not proud of my actions, headed home for a new start. We all have done thing out of anger that we regret. That makes us human. Bad timing on my part. Sorry guys. This to shall pass.”

We all do things in the HEAT of the moment … just gotta be a little more careful next time, son!
