Jessica Simpson bares her nude body (and her large, pregnant belly) on the cover of the upcoming April 2012 issue of Elle Magazine.

Channeling actress Demi Moore‘s legendary pose, the 31-year-old uses one hand to cover her breasts and uses the other to cradle her baby bump.

An alternate cover shows the singer fully clothed in a red dress using both hands to cradle her unborn child.

In the issue, Jessica reveals that she and her fiance Eric Johnson are having a baby girl, though she still isn’t revealing her due date, which is reportedly some time this spring. (And by the looks of it … hopefully soon!)

Demi Moore was the first celebrity to pose nude and pregnant on the cover of a magazine when she graced the cover of Vanity Fair magazine back in 1991, when she was seven months pregnant with her middle daughter Scout.

15 years later Britney Spears did the same thing on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar magazine, and Christina Aguilera followed suit two years later on the cover of Marie Claire.

Mariah Carey posed nude when she was pregnant with her twins on the cover of Life & Style Magazine’s April 2011 issue, and actress Nia Long bared her naked baby bump on the cover of the November 2011 issue of Ebony Magazine.

And now Jessica Simpson is the latest celebrity to show off of her pregnant body on the cover of a major publication.

“I’m a lil nervous but I’ve never felt more beautiful or empowered,” she tweeted Wednesday about the cover’s debut.
