LeBron James and his longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson are getting married!
With a number of his Miami Heat teammates and close friends and family members watching, the NBA baller reportedly popped the question to a surprised Brinson on New Year’s Eve (Sat. Dec 31 2011) at a private NYE dinner party in Miami hosted by Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union.
“It was beautiful,” LeBron’s Heat teammate Chris Bosh said. “It was nice. It was real nice.”
Reps for James confirmed the news early Sunday morning just hours after LeBron and Savannah’s friends like Chris Paul, Miami Heat owner Micky Arison, Chris Bosh’s wife Adrienne, and others were spotted sending out congratulatory tweets.
“Happy for my brother @KingJames and sis @SavannahRB on their engagement!!! Extremely happy for them and the good times to come #HappyNewYear” Chris Paul tweeted.
Miami Heat owner Micky Arison tweeted, “Congrats to LeBron. @KingJames and Savannah so happy 4 u guys.”
“Love Trumps All #2012 Congrats to @SavannahRB & @KingJames :),” Adrienne Bosh tweeted.
The engagement party, attended by Nas, Queen Latifah, Chris & Adrienne Bosh, LeBron’s mother Gloria James, supermodel Jessica White, and more, also doubled as a 27th birthday party for LeBron.
The L.A. Times reported that LeBron’s Heat teammate Dwyane Wade was in charge of holding the ring right up until the big moment, and a group of about 50 guests toasted to the happy couple.
“A special night,” Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra said.
LeBron James and Savannah Brinson are high school sweethearts, and have been together for over 8 years. They also have two young sons together: 7-year-old LeBron Jr. and 4-year-old Bryce.
