Kara DioGuardi Officially Leaves American Idol!

It’s official…..Kara DioGuardi is no longer an American Idol judge!

The songwriter made headlines in late July when word got out that American Idol was nixing her from the judge’s panel in favor of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. And Friday (Sep 3) Fox officially announced DioGuardi’s split from the show.

In the statement released, Kara DioGuardi says that she feels like “now is the best time to leave ‘Idol’” and officially announces her departure from the show after 2 years.

Peep Kara’s statement below:

“I felt like I won the lottery when I joined American Idol two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave Idol. I am very proud to have been associated with American Idol — it has truly been an amazing experience.”

Neither Kara nor Fox have given a reason for the surprise break-up, but the show’s creator and executive Simon Fuller spoke highly of the high-profile songwriter and says that he’ll continue to work with her in the future.

“I will miss having her on the show, but I look forward to working with her in music for many years to come.”

Word is Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler will be taking the two vacant seats (Rand Jackson isn’t going anywhere we hear).

If idol keeps Kara and Ellen, and replaces Simon with whoever, the show becomes irrevelant and the viewer despises Idol for “trying to fill the spot” of our friend (Cowell). However, if they replace the entire panel, exclduing Jackson due to his origional membership. The viewer thinks “Oh, it was nice while it lasted, but people move on.” I love Kara, but Idol did what was best for them and there is respect in that.

Now that we know moths ago she was officially fird can we please move on? The experiment with Kara and Ellen failed, end of drama. Maybe the coming season of Idol will see better candidates, less snarky bitchy comments and some good old positive reinforcement for the contestants. Select good singers, not marginal, not novelty acts then lets have a REAL COMPETITION among talented singers not a look at me I am sooooo important, I’m a Judge…she was so nasty last year with her comments, back and forth flip flopping…it was embarrassing and as for Ellen, she was strugling just to get through her alloted time and Simon was so bored he bored me. This show will survive quite well with excellent singers thank you. It works on So You Think You Can Dance…they pick dancers who can for the most part dance then let them compete. Would they choose a bad dancer just to deride and ridicule him or her? Thats sadistic…Last year Siobhan Magness had to put up with Kara’s flip flops…and they almost had her cowed but she was too resilliant and even though she went home too soon she was really talented and should have stayed longer. The judges did not serve her well…

@Carolyn Knight Kelley: I am sure you are probably only about 12 years old, so I will try to be civil… what makes you think Kara is going to see your message? This isn’t Kara’s website. You addressed your message as if it is going directly to Kara!

And about your comment about Simon being a bad judge… HE WAS HE ONLY JUDGE!
This show could lose everyone except Simon and it would keep going strong. His opinion was the only one that really mattered. Unfortunately, he’s out. I am predicting this will be the final season of American Idol.

They need to get rid of Randy too. His comments are always the same and are pointless. In the past few seasons, I have been fast forwarding through all of the judges’ comments, except for Simon because he actually knew what he was talking about and didn’t just repeat “dawg” over and over again.

I liked her, she made more sense than Paula ever did or Ellen ever will, she has the music knowledge to give constructive help. I figure the show is waning and they’re trying to figure out how to revitalize it…adding Ellen didn’t help…not hating Ellen but just didn’t see the fit for the show…one too many judges if you ask me, 3 was better, less BS to listen to.
