YouTube announced yesterday that it has increased the time limit on uploaded videos from 10 minutes to 15 minutes for members that are not partners with the video-sharing website. They claim that they have beefed up their copyright protection tools and since copyright holders will have more control over their content, it’ll be less likely that users can upload “large chunks” of content without permission.

YouTube has also launched a brand new contest called “15 Minutes of Fame.” To enter, users will upload a 15-minute video and tag it with “yt15minutes.” Videos must be upload by Wednesday (Aug 4) and four will be chosen to be featured on the homepage.
