Pop superstar Lady Gaga performed a medley of “Telephone” and “Dance in the Dark,” songs from her latest album The Fame Monster, last night (Tues. Feb 16) in London, England at the 2010 Brit Awards. The performance was very somber but was originally supposed to be fun and uptempo. At the last minute, upon hearing about the death of fashion designer Alexander McQueen, Gaga flipped the script and decided to pay tribute to McQueen with a slowed down, acoustic version of her performance.

It was previously reported that Gaga was so upset over the death of McQueen that she almost refused to perform as planned at the Brit Awards. Instead of the large-scale performance she had planned, Gaga moved forward with a stripped-down set that would have her appearing on stage alone in a leotard for an acoustic version of her hits.
