Though Leona Lewis is not seeing the immediate success she hoped for with her sophomore album Echo, she may soon have something else, and much better in our opinion, to smile about. As the album drops to #41 on the charts, buzz about the singer receiving an Oscar nomination is growing.
Leona’s single “Happy” is featured in the film Precious and is being considered for a “Best Original Song” nomination. In addition, she recorded a song called “I See You” for the sci-fi movie Avatar and the track is also being considered for an Oscar nod.
“I’m just so proud of [“Happy”] cos I wrote it, and to be associated with a film like Precious, which is about trying to overcome troubles and trials in your life,” Leona, 24, said of the song. “I’m glad that someone got that message.”
