Michael had gotten his nose done as early as the late 70s. This has nothing to do with vitiligo, of course. Also, what exactly are “African American” features?

I think the great irony is that if that Jackson hadn’t undergone all the plastic surgery, he probably would have grown up to be the homeliest of the men in his family. He also had severe acne, which left terrible scarring on his face. But he went far beyond cutting away any resemblance to his father. He completely restructured his face, including his eyes, eyebrows, nose, cheekbones, mouth and chin. His sister, LaToya, had the same extreme surgery to her nose as well, so you get the feeling that it wasn’t a mistake.

Wasn’t it because his father abused him, telling him he had a big nose and All that? He probably didn’t want to look like his father…

OK. Let’s all accept the fact that Michael Jackson bleached his skin to conceal his problems with vitiligo. That was perfectly reasonable. There are no proven treatments for this disorder which will darken skin, so bleaching was Jackson’s best option. However, none of this explains why Jackson chose to disfigure his face and remove any African-American features. From the neck up, Michael Jackson was a good looking white woman.

@ Michele: Yes, according to actress Cicely Tyson, she was there when the glove was being created. It was designed by someone who she’s worked with before. Michael first started the glove to sort of blend it all together so the white spots would not be too noticeable and harsh against his darker complexion. And I’d have to say he succeeded. No one noticed his vitiligo but everyone noticed the famous glove.

I have a cousin who has vitiligo and it started when she was in high school. She started getting spots on her right hand/arm and it just started spreading from there.

You think that’s why Michael Jackson wore that one glove?
