Legendary R&B singer Whitney Houston will release her highly anticipated album I Look To You September 1st and the lead single, “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” has just surfaced. Follow the break to take a listen!

D/L: I Didn’t Know My Own Strenth

The emotionally driven song isn’t a power ballad like most expected but we really like it. It’s really beautiful and speaks about all that she has been through since her career went downhill.

We’re not sure how the public will receive it though. Most people are expecting her to scream her way through her lead single and prove that she is still the old Whitney. And while we don’t doubt that she still has the ability to hit those notes, we also don’t think her first single should be overwhelming as some can’t handle it.

The only question that remains is if this is enough to get people interested again. We all know how the music business is these days. I Look To You will hit stores September 1st and will feature production from Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo, Swizz Beatz, and Akon.
