When Jonetta Patton is managing the career of her successful R&B singer son, Usher, she’s apparently scamming limo drivers. Usher’s mom/manager is currently under investigation by Dekalb County Police after a freelance limo driver for her Atlanta-based transportation company, JCarr Transportation, filed a complaint alleging she cheated him out of a $1,668 paycheck.
Ms. Patton and her company are accused of scamming the limo driver while he worked for them during the BET Hip-Hop Awards, which were held in Atlanta back in October 2008. A representative for the company said the following to TMZ:
“The drivers were hired as independent contractors and are paid 30-45 days net when working on special events of the magnitude of the BET Hip Hop Awards that took place on Oct. 18th. They were hired at the recommendation of an employee who was recently terminated by JCarr and are disgruntled that their services are no longer being used by the company as a result of the unprofessional nature of the fired employee.”
Remember when 50 Cent sued Taco Bell for making him an “unauthorized spokesperson” for a new promotional campaign? Well, it looks like the’re counter-suing the rapper calling him “arrogant” How interesting…
Taco Bell shot down the rapper’s lawsuit in Manhattan Federal Court, claiming they are protected by the First Amendment. The lawsuit calls the rapper a “self-described former drug dealer and hustler” who is “arrogant.”
“Jackson has used his colorful past to cultivate a public image of belligerence and arrogance and has a well-publicized track record of making threats, starting feuds and filing lawsuits,” Taco Bell lawyer Robert Lehrburger wrote in the lawsuit. “At the same time, Jackson holds himself out as a giver to charity and one who wants to give back to his community. This lawsuit is another of Jackson’s attempts to burnish his gangsta rapper persona by distorting beyond all recognition a bona fide, good faith offer that Taco Bell made to Jackson.”
50 Cent’s lawyer shot down the lawsuit in a statement to The New York Daily News. “It makes me wonder why they would decide to use his name in their ad campaign if they think he’s such a bad character,” Raymond told The Daily News.
People caught up with pop star Rihanna a few days ago at a charity event for UNICEF and asked her about her new wrist tattoo.
“It’s tribal,” she said at the charity’s annual Snowflake Lighting Ceremony in New York’s Grand Army Plaza. “It represents strength and love.” Rihanna also revealed that she got the exotic-looking tat while in New Zealand for a recent tour date.
“It’s their traditional way of tattooing,” she said of the Maori-inspired geometric design. “I always wanted [one].” But even for a tattoo enthusiast like Rihanna, this particular method had one big drawback: “It hurt like hell!”
Her “friend” Chris Brown has the same tattoo. And they both have stars on their necks … just so you know. But they’re just friends though, so it’s all good!
