Amerie Gets Deal W/ Def Jam

Acording to Contact Music singer Amerie has switched record labels and is now official a Def Jam Artist.

Singer Amerie is set to undergo a career overhaul – after signing a deal with the record label which turned Rihanna into an international superstar.

The 1 Thing hitmaker has parted ways with Columbia Records and inked a deal with Def Jam, the company that secured the massive track Umbrella for Rihanna last year (07), catapulting her to global fame.

And Amerie, who has previously released two albums to moderate success, is hoping the new contract with Def Jam will help boost her career to even greater heights.

A source tells Britain’s Daily Star newspaper, “Amerie’s first two albums did well, but she’s ready to step it up a gear now.

“She was offered a deal too good to turn down and the promise to build upon her reputation for classy and sexy R&B.”

Ne-Yo, Mariah Carey, and Rihanna are just some of the big name celebs also signed to Def Jam. I’m not a huge fan of Ameries’ music but, I do think this change would be good for her career. Hopefully she will be able to get from Def Jam what she wasn’t getting from her previous label and make a fan out of me and many more.

I was just jammin’ to both of her joints earlier this week. I love her sound and I’m definitely a fan of hers so moving to Def Jam will be a good look for her. I hope she gets more shine this time around.

i love love love amerie. her voice isn’t as strong as maybe it needs to be but she’s got that female swagger. she even has a mixtape! i’ve been waitin for something like this to happen for her!
