Brooklyn-based rapper Jamal Woolard, better known as “Gravy,” has been tapped to play rap icon Biggie Smalls, in the upcoming biopic Notorious, which is set for a January 2009 release, reports All Hip Hop.

According to Variety, Notorious will also star Angela Bassett as Voletta Wallace, Derek Luke as Sean “Diddy” Combs and Anthony Mackie, who will play Tupac Shakur. Notorious, which is being executive produced by Combs, will chronicle B.I.G’s career, his rise to the top of the charts and ultimately his death. The Notorious B.I.G., born Christopher Wallace, was shot to death on March 9, 1997, after he, Sean “Diddy “ Combs and an entourage attended a party at the Petersen Automotive Museum. The murders of B.I.G. or his “rival” Tupac Shakur, who was gunned down six months earlier in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996, have never been solved.

Some believe that the rappers were shot as part of a feud between East and West Coast rappers, while others, including B.I.G.’s mother, claim B.I.G. was gunned down with the help of off-duty police officers, on the orders of Death Row Records’ CEO, Marion “Suge” Knight. Notorious is based on a screenplay by Hip-Hop scribes Cheo Hodari Coker and Reggie Rock Bythewood. In April of 2006, Gravy caused a minor controversy when he was shot outside of New York’s Hot 97, just moments before conducting a radio interview. Hot 97 responded by banning the rapper’s records from being played the following month, due to several other unrelated violent alteractions between rappers at the station. Notorious is being directed by George Tillman Jr and is due in theaters on January 16.

The movie is set to start filming on March 24 in New York, just two weeks after the anniversary of B.I.G., who was gunned down on March 9, 1997 in Los Angeles. Click Here to see casting predictions from So Furious!

Kelly Rowland put those rumors of her having breast implants to rest by confirming their validity in an upcoming issue of People Magazine.

Rowland, who sang “Bootylicious” with Beyonce in the group Destiny’s Child, tells People magazine in its March 17 issue that she had plastic surgery last October to bring her “from an A-cup to a B-cup.” As for the one-cup upgrade, Rowland says: “I didn’t want to have double Ds and be a little bitty size 2 — that would look nuts!” The 27-year-old singer went under the knife after a long decision-making process.

“I was sick of not fitting into my tops,” she says. “There was this one really hot House of Dereon top — I just wanted to fill that out!” Rowland says that top — designed by Beyonce’s mom, Tina Knowles — complements her new curves: “I put it on and I looked so good! I’m so happy. I feel complete.” Rowland, who has released two solo albums, says she hesitated to discuss the surgery.

“It is a decision I made for myself. I like it, and that’s all that counts. For young people: Think about it before you just jump off and do something (you may regret later),” she says.

Can she get through one interview without making references to Beyonce? Anyhow, I’m loving the new chest though, Kelly. You didn’t go too outrageous. They look “natural.”

Media Take Out, the increasingly popular gossip site notorious for posting rumors and falsely fabricated stories had people talking about Jermaine Dupri going blind after undergoing laser eye surgery. Of course the rapper/producer responded via his Youtube channel stating that he “ain’t blind, you stupid mother fuckers!” I knew this rumor was bogus to begin with. As I stated before, I had the procedure done myself, and I don’t do anything that drastic without conducting the proper research. Out of the millions of surgeries that have been performed over the past 10 years (the first surgery was done in 1998), there have been ZERO cases of recipients of the treatment going blind. Don’t believe me? Make friends with Google. The information’s out there…

R&B group Dru Hill was in the middle of announcing their comeback on Baltimore’s 92Q Jams radio station when group member Woody made his own announcement. Needless to say, Sisqo, the lead singer of the group, didn’t take too kindly of him making such an announcement without discussing it with the group beforehand. Completely understandable. But the little tantrum Sisqo threw was pretty funny, not to mention that whack-ass fight between the remaining guys. What a lasting impression to make on your hometown fans! But, was it all staged? From one standpoint it looks fake, but from the other, it looks real. Maybe Sisqo’s that good of an actor, and if that’s the case, he doesn’t need to be singing in a group. Gnarls Barkley returns with their sophomore album The Odd Couple (Atlantic), make sure you all pick up your copy April 8th, 2008! I’ve been turned onto Gnarls Barkley’s randomness (good random, though) when I first heard their single ‘Crazy’. Now, I’m extremely random, so soon I knew Gnarls Barkley would ultimately become one of my favourite bands ever. I still bump St. Elsewhere from time to time even now, just like I’ll be with this album soon :)

My current favourite tunes from this album, so far, are ‘Would-Be Killer’, ‘Open Book’, ‘Whatever’, ‘Blind Mary’, ‘Neighbors’ and ‘A Little Better’. If you liked St. Elsewhere you’ll love this album, it’s a little more darker, though; lots of soul and a little bit of funk. I love it long time! You can’t go wrong with GB.
