Lebron James & Gisele Bundchen Covers Vogue Magazine

Cleveland Cavaliers front man Lebron James and supermodel Gisele Bundchen are featured on the cover of the April 2008 issue of Vogue Magazine. What makes this issue so particularly special is in the magazine’s 116-year history, Lebron James is only the 3rd male to cover the popular fashion magazine! And not only is he the 3rd male, but he is the 1st black male! Definitely a good look.

“It’s pretty good,” James said Thursday night before the Cavs’ game in Washington. “Me being a big guy and a big supporter of fashion, to be on the cover with Gisele, on the cover of the biggest fashion magazine ever – it’s pretty good.”

The issue features photography by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.

    Ok, in all honesty this dude looks like a big gorilla holding a “damsel in distress!!” I do not like the cover @ all, is makes him look like a coon baffoon, his mouth all open just looking like all types of negroness..not hot..def NOT HOT!!

    Vogue needs to NOT put sneaky, underlined racist things like this on the front cover of their mag. Moreover, Imma need black people to stop “going along to get along”…they can only get away with it if we let them!

    I love both, but the cover is awful. I’m not surprized, the photograther is not a fashion photographer and it shows.

    I agree completely with SesameStreet’s post. This looks exactly like a scene off King Kong. Typical institutional racism; if I were him and saw that picture, I would be outraged. He says he’s really into fashion and proud to be on the cover because of it, but he’s wearing basketball shorts and a wild facial expression. Giselle even looks like she’s trying to escape.

    I don’t understand what the big deal is. An achievement is an achievement. Just because it’s not a big deal to you doesn’t mean you should rain on someone else’s parade. Racism is such a big deal in this world when it really shouldn’t be. Would you be saying that if it was a white guy on the cover with his mouth open like that? I’m white and think that people are looking at this from the wrong aspect. If you don’t like the picture you should not like the whole picture not just the fact that he’s black. Saying people look like Gorillas is uncalled for. If you don’t like the picture just say you don’t like the picture. Everyone has their own opinion but at the same time there is a huge difference between an opinion and being a racist ass.
