Tameka Foster: “Black Women Don’t Like Ourselves.”

Looks like Foster is taking the animosity surrounding her in the media not too well, proceed:
The mother of R&B star USHER’s baby boy has lashed out at the singer’s jealous fans, who have made her life a misery ever since the couple announced its engagement.
Tameka Foster, who wed Usher in September (07) and gave birth to their son last week (26Nov07), can’t believe how the black media and black women, in particular, have turned on her.
She insists her love for the Yeah! hitmaker is for real, despite claims she’s using Usher to boost her fashion empire.
Foster tells Essence magazine, “We (black women) don’t like ourselves. If I were Hispanic, Usher would have the sexiest wife alive. If I were mixed, he’d have the sexiest wife alive.
“But he has a black girl, and it’s like, ‘She’s horrible and she’s ugly!’ “OK, maybe I don’t fit the cookie-cutter standard – 25 and a size two – but this is who he loves.” And Foster insists those that just want to bad mouth her should turn their attentions to more pressing matters.
She rants, “There are women getting raped in Darfur, young girls being turned out every single day right here in Atlanta. We have bigger issues to worry about than two people in love with each other.” And soul star Patti LaBelle, who refers to Foster as her “second daughter”, backs her up in the article, adding, “Tameka is a pretty black woman who has been married before… but Usher knows her past and he loves her.”

Damn, did I mention how much I love her? She has a point, you know. I could care less about Usher’s personal life, much less who he weds, hell — Usher can marry a man (no pun intended) — I wouldn’t care. As long as he is happy (and making good music of course) and truly loves this beautiful black woman I see no cons. I must admit, we as black people, are our own enemies. White people love and adore Britney, Lindsay, etc. How come we don’t support each other more? It’s sad.

Don’t believe the hype. Let’s not forget that Chilli was older than Usher, too. Did Black people rail against her? Tameka’s statement doesn’t pan out when you look at couples like Bee & Jay, Will & Jada, Kenny Lattimore & Chante Moore, Tracey Edmonds & Eddie Murphy … the list goes on and on. While I think it is very TRUE that she has gotten a lot of negative attention that was very UNwarranted, I think the reason she gives for it is false. It is a cop out and it makes Black people look bad. Keep the focus on the real issues: #1 – people are jealous, white or black #2 – she doesn’t have a great reputation and that’s what people are reacting to, more than anything. As for Lindsay and Britney, the white blogs (if you wanna consider PerezHilton that, even though he is Latino) trash them on the daily. The only people supporting them are their fans and concerned people who want them to seek help. They’re no favorites, by far.

Props to ma girl Tameka, i dont kno why everybody is hating on her, i think as usher fans u shld be happy for him to get a wife. she was a gud person but yall r up against her. if she is ugly it is usher who shld be worried not u.

this lady needs to stfu. wut makes her think that people dont like her because shes black?? usher was with chilli and everybody loved their relationship. and there are many hollywood black relationship, and no one is hating. i dont care what she is, black, white, yellow, wutever, shes not attractive to me. and wut does she expect, usher is an r&b singer, most of his fans are women, so of course there will be animosity between the wife and the female fans.

Omg you guys are so negative. The things you are saying are the things she’s complaining about. She’s right though if she was lightskinned basically nobody would be saying anything. She’s a real woman, with real problems….think about it. All of the women are just jealous because she has him. The men are just being shallow because she’s not lightskin with curly hair. Get a grip on life ppl….he loves her so get over it. If you’ve read any of Usher’s interviews lately or listened to his new album….you’d see he’s so in love with this woman and her “baggage”. The title track “Here I Stand” was written for her and its beautiful. You guys have no type of heart or sensitivity.

Tamika is deluded and seems to have little knowledge about the world..she thinks the entire black community is on her case. She has a bad reputation and very manipulative and as she has prooved somewhat uneducated. Black women dont hate black women and i doubt black women would say usher has a sexy wife if she had married a hispanic or white. I’m not too sure what her experiences with black women has been, but she is old enough to know reality and people just being jelous..i doubt anyone is jelous of her..we just think she is not good enough for Usher and not because she is black but because she just doesnt have anything to her name except 4 babies with 4 different baby daddies? and oh she is about 7 yearsl older than Usher..seh older women are the ones that normally bring something to the table. If she is so concerned about Dafur etc, what has she done about it seeing as she has inherited a lot of wealth. She really needs to be banned from talking. We love Halle, we love Mariah, we love whitney , we love strong, independent, hard working, smart black women..she has just proved not to have these characteristics..she needs to upgrade herself.
