GRADUATION SOLD OVER 957,000 UNITS IN ITS OPENING WEEK, WHILE 50 CENT ONLY SOLD 691,000!
As today comes to an end, Billboard has finally released the official numbers from the album sells of Kanye West’s “Graduation” and 50 Cent’s “Curtis!” Like I predicted waaaay back when the two announced this friendly battle, KANYE WEST SOLD THE MOST ALBUMS!! From BILLBOARD.COM:
Kanye West’s “Graduation” (Def Jam) easily leads the star-studded class of Sept. 11 releases, posting The Billboard 200’s largest sales total in more than two years. Nielsen SoundScan will show West’s album moved 957,000 during its first six days when the tracking service refreshes its charts tomorrow morning (Sept. 19).
Also pumping album volume are 50 Cent’s “Curtis” (G-Unit/Interscope), which will lock down the No. 2 slot with 691,000 sold. Kenny Chesney’s “Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates” (BNA/Sony BMG Nashville) will bow at No. 3 with 387,000 copies. The total for West’s “Graduation” is the largest by any album since 50 Cent’s “The Massacre” opened with 1.1 million copies in March 2005. West’s own August 2005 album, “Late Registration,” was the last album to surpass 800,000 copies when it began with 860,000.
Like I said before, it doesn’t matter who won or lost this little “battle.” It’s still amazing for them to sell that many albums in the year 2007 when people can freely download music FOR FREE! But y’all know damn well I’m happy that Kanye West took on the win. I feel proud to own my very own copy of “Graduation!” Now, let’s see if these sales keep up for next week!

DANG, BRITNEY! WHAT’S NEXT?! » Well damn! I didn’t see this one coming! Or maybe I did… With all of the hoopla surrounding Britney Spears and her stint at last week’s VMAs, we almost forgot about her custody battle with her kids. FOX NEWS is reporting that Britney will temporarily lose custody of her two toddler sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline. Commissioner Scott Gordon will order the boys, 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James, turned over to Federline based on information that Los Angeles Family Court received over the weekend about Spears, the sources told FOX News. During Monday’s custody hearing, Spears’ former bodyguard accused the pop star of having “issues of nudity and drug use” since she returned from rehab, and reports of a planned “hit” on Federline emerged. Damn, that’s some crazy shit right there! Home girl was gonna put out a hit on K-Fed! Wow… CLICK HERE for more information on that story.

JAMIE FOXX GETS A SPOT ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME » This past Friday, Jamie Foxx received his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “My grandmother’s got to be spreading her wings and flying around in heaven, just so happy,” he said during the unveiling of the star. He called the day “one of the most amazing days” of his life. After receiving an Oscar for his ground-breaking performance of Ray Charles in “Ray” in 2005, I’d say it’s about damn time he get his props with his very own star! Congratz Jamie! CONTINUE READING
CODEBLACK ENTERTAINMENT RELEASES ‘I TRIED’ OUT SPET. 25; STARRING BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY
Los Angeles – (September 17, 2007) – CodeBlack Entertainment, America’s premiere source for urban entertainment, will release the highly anticipated motion picture “I Tried†on DVD September 25th, 2007.
Starring Krazie Bone, Layzie Bone and Wish Bone as themselves, the three remaining members of the legendary, multi-platinum selling, Grammy Award winning rap group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, as well as a cameo from platinum selling super producer Swizz Beats, “I Tried†is the electrifying tale of what could have been; a twisted, eye-opening anecdote of chance, fate and fortune, and the harsh reality that lies beneath it all.
In 1993, before Hip Hop communities here and abound had been exposed to the unique, rousing sound that is Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Krazie, Layzie and Wish were three visionaries trying to fulfill their lifelong dream to deliver that sound to the masses. With a bus ticket and that dream, the group boarded a Greyhound to Los Angeles, in hopes of securing a record deal on now deceased rap legend Easy E’s Ruthless Records. Focused intently on attaining the future they knew they deserved, they scoured the city in search of the one man with the power to turn their dream into a reality. Although they experienced some devastating obstacles along the way, the day finally came when they made the seemingly impossible possible, eventually achieving monumental success; winning Grammys, American Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards and selling 35 million albums worldwide, and haven’t turned back since.
