TUESDAY'S RUNDOWN!

JAY-Z AIN'T GOIN NOWHERE!

JAY-Z SAYS HE ISN’T GOING ANYWHERE! » Rap mogul Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter has dismissed reports stating that he is planning to leave his post as president of Def Jam records, insisting the media are too far ahead of themselves. The rapper was rumoured to be in negotiations with Columbia – home to his girl Beyonce – following the appointment of superproducer/performer Jermaine Dupri as the president of the label’s urban music division in February of this year. But speaking to DJ Angie Martinez on New York radio station Hot 97 last week, Carter denied the rumor and claimed he would stay at Def Jam until they fired him. He told listeners: “If they don’t kick me out the building (I will be there next week). I’m always looking at the next move (but) I’m nowhere near that. That’s the papers, they are ahead of me.” CONTINUE READING

Sean Kingston on TRL - July 31, 2007

New artist Sean Kingston brought along his fake Jamaican accent and made a couple of promo stops by MTV’s TRL and BET’s 106 & Park and performed his single “Beautiful Girls.” Donning a different XXX-L letterman jacket on each show. I swear, that damn song is starting to get on my last nerve! Somebody save me, please. Or shoot me. Whichever comes first…

I just recently saw this video on BET Animation and 106 and Park – at first I thought Lil’ John had a new album coming out! Dang, did you see Terrance’s face after the video was over? “Read A Book,” by BOMANI ARMAH, left me a bit confused and irate. Hmm, is this like satire or is he mocking how African-Americans “act”? I mean come on, “wear deodorant, nigga”? I’m having mixed emotions about this thing because I don’t know whether to be disturbed that most of the children in this video are black or to be excited because this is sort of a wake up call in it’s own way – check the video out for yourself! Do you think it’s racist?

“U Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” is the third single from Young Buck’s second album, Buck the World. It features R&B singer LaToiya Williams and was produced by Dr. Dre and Mark Batson. A video has been made for the single and was released on June 12th. The song is cut off about halfway through the video and goes to my favorite song called “Buck the World,” which features Lyfe Jennings.

Amy Crackhouse Stumbles Around in Manhattan

I AM CONVINCED THAT AMY WINEHOUSE IS A STRONG CRACKHEAD! » Amy Winehouse, famous for her rather “crackish” ways was recently spotted losing her balance and stumbling around the streets of the Meatpacking district of Manhattan. Her normal get-up has changed a bit though! I already know she has on her hip-high daisey dukes, a dirty wifebeater (with a few holes in it), and her signature pink ballerina slippers. But homegirl is trying to stunt now with a trenchcoat! I ain’t mad at you Amy. Do ya thizzle!

ALBUM REVIEW: M.I.A. - KALA

Kala is the second studio album by UK experimental electronica and rap artist M.I.A. and will be released in the United Kingdom on August 20th and on August 21st in the USA. OK, I definitely take back any insecurities I had for M.I.A. second time around (shame on me), cos this album is off rip forreal. Almost every song is live and organic, I was bobbing my head to quite a few. This is not what I expected at all, “Jimmy” is starting to grow on me, but I absolutely fiend for “Paper Planes” and “XR2″! Production was on point; Timbaland, Bangladesh and M.I.A. of course – just to name the few I know of and love. Guest appearances include Afrikan Boy, The Wilcannia Mob and Timbaland on “Come Around,” also my favorite. M.I.A. fans, like myself, will not be disappointed.
