ALBUM REVIEW: The Used – Lies For The Liars

Lies for the Liars is The Used’s third studio album. It will be released on May 22nd, 2007 and will include their first single, “The Bird And The Worm,” on it. There will also be a follow up to the album with a currently untitled EP featuring songs that won’t be on the album. Okay, I don’t know what everyone is talking about, hoopla about The Used’s and Linkin Park’s “drastic” genre change, I love both of the albums! Now, with Linkin Park, the album was mostly conceptually based you know? Not like the typical materialistic B.S. on the radio now, same with the video people! But The Used, I am not really a “die-hard” fan like that, I don’t know… All I know is I really liked it, the album rocks hepatitis ass, and The Used is the shit.

Love this album! I really like “Hospital” along with the ones you’ve listed. I don’t think it’s so far from their older stuff, different but similar still.

hospital is awesome, but im in between that and liar liar 4 my favorite. i dont think this album was as good as the first but i think it was better than “in love and death”

It’s official, The Used really are gone forever, because the crap on this cd that they attempt to pass for music, is absolutely shameful. The Used are known for their crazy, raw yet melodic sound, and unfortunately this album is missing most of that. It seems as if they’d rather appeal to 16 year old high school girls rather than their hardcore fans, who will mostly be disappointed by this album.

lies for the liars. what can i say? when i think of the used i think of bert’s screaming and quin’s killer rock riffs..this album is fine, but i need more rock songs next time. i think the bird and the worm is a terrible song. i think a few of the songs are quite bad actually. it just seems kind of..wussy? the version of pretty handsome awkward on berth was 10 times better then the album one. i rocked that 90 clip for months and now i hear it on the album and i cant give it more then 3 listens. i must tho not critisise the whole album tho. the ripper, earthquakes, paralized and wake the dead give me reason to still listen. also, with me tonight has a killer guitar part in the middle however is difficult to get to as the song is almost embarrasing. what else? oh yeah the hidden “track” at the end is not even worth adding to the album. its just basically junk. at least make it a little longer if your going to try and grab my interest with whatever that is.

OMG! Now, I don’t usally do that kind of stuff outside of WoW but thats the only way to describe it. Lies for the Liars is the best effort I have ever heard. From “The Rippers” tight lyrics and looping effects to “Smother Me”’s soft sound but nice under lying thoughts, this is the best album I have got since My Chemical Romance’s Black Parade.

ok lies 4 the liar is a sick album, not as good as the first album but better then the second. i can see how ppl r saing it lacke the hard stff and being a hardcore fan i agree but if u think about it, the first album had 2 hard songs, “maybe memories” and “box of sharp objects”, 3 if u count “choke me”. the second album had 3 hard songs, “take it away” sound effects and overdramatics” and “im a fake”. so if u think about it, this album had “liar liar” and “wake the dead”, and there were a few screaming parrts in songs like “the bird and thw worm”, so the lack wasnt that drastic.
*by the way the hardcore used fans know what “my chemical romance” did 2 the used, which is y bert always goes “hahahaha” when hes supposed 2 say “my chemical romance” in take it away. so whovever it was that said they havent heard anything better since black parade, i have this 2 say. my chemical romance sucks!

What a poor album. Like My chemical romances “welcome to the black parade it seems the used are trying to apeal to a more mainstream market. What a shame. Its so sad to see a once great band sell their souls. They should have stuck to what they know. Love and death, the used and maybe memories are all brilliant albums!!!!!!

this album is pure CRAP!!! ditching brandon, musical theatre, BUTT-ROCK guitar riffs, all bad ideas for the used. BERT is obviously suffering from writers’ block. the lyrics are nowhere reminicient of VIOLENT-POP POETRY from the first two albums. theUSED needs to curb their jealousy of MCR and just be themselves

This album is nothing compared to the first, and although the second only had some good songs, they were really good. This album’s songs aren’t as good as the 2nd one’s good tunes. Anyways, hospital is a good one. The bird and the worm doesn’t really appeal to me. Sounds like an album that they either didn’t put much effort into, or purposely tried to change into something. Too bad that something is pretty lame. I miss the used…feels like they died. Often seems to happen when you start mixing up members. :(

one more thing, if the used is trying to be waht my chemical romance became, they shouldnt. That kinda popularity just makes douche bags like you, and cool people get sick of you. Sorry but it’s true.

what the fuck are you people talking about this album was fucking amazing. god damn you. Wake the dead, liar liar, hospital, the ripper, and paralyzed are all fucking good songs. It has hardcore songs but not all songs have to all sound the same. This album has a variety of songs which means the band has talent. To make slow song, and hardcore songs with the same people isn’t as easy as people think. This album was written very well. I do have to agree that The Used shouldn’t try to be like MCR, because they suck

what happened to amazing creative lyrics and passionate screaming and yelling ?
i feel first 2 album’s song was actually artistic and genuine.
Their new album, in contrast, is badlyricsriffssoundvocalsassdonkeyshitcocklick….
every band has it’s shitty albums especially for young bands like this i really hope he can make a good come back, but it’s rare but im stiill hoping cause i love his passionate vocals and can’t find it anywhere else.
