R Kelly - Rise Up: Virginia Tech Tragedy Tribute

Even though R Kelly is going through some things right now, you can’t deny that he is a great songwriter! I mean, the man can write about anything at anytime. He writes message songs, R&B hits, hip-hop songs … hell, damn near anything! This song here is called “Rise Up” and is dedicated to the Virginia Tech Tragedy. You can stream it below, but on May 15th, you will be able to download the song, and 100% of the net proceeds from its sale will go to the “Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund.” Kelly, 40, wrote the inspirational ballad after watching the events unfold on television while he was on route to a performance, Jive said. The lyrics include the lines: “Rise up, when you feel you can’t go on, rise up, and all of your hope is gone, rise up, when you’re weak and you can’t be strong.” The Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund was created to provide assistance to the victims of the families, as well as grief counseling and other needs for those affected by the shootings. More info on the Virginia Tech Tragedy Memorial Fund can be found here. Also, be on the lookout for his new album “Double Up” which will be hitting stores MAY 29, 2007! I will be posting more about that later on in the week, but for now, you can stream “Rise Up” below…
