I must say I am really disappointed in M.I.A. with her latest single “Boyz,” the beat sounds a lot like “Bird Flu,” but I may be just hearing things. Don’t get me wrong! I am a crazy M.I.A. fan, it’s just that, I am not in favor of this particular track. But moving on, you can hear “Boyz” (the rip), from her new album entitled Kala, below and decide- as a special bonus I got the remix to Bird Flu from my boy Ray which you can listen to below!! I must say, “Bird Flu” the remix is the SHEIIIT!! And M.I.A. is such an inspiration, she is a true musical sojourner, with her unique sound and style.

Well it appears the great search to find the next Pussycat Doll is finally over!! The show premiered in early March and already had people talking that homegurl might win (so I hear apparently) so, Congratulations Asia! Although I, on the other hand, wasn’t really that much into the show like that and I really can’t critique it like I’d like to, (lol) so I’m a need ya’ll to fill me in a little bit more! BUT, I do know that we should have a new single from the group (including Asia) this Summer which is great! I also hear on some other music blogs that the PussyCat’s [rumored] album is going to be entitled Double The Trouble. Hmmm…

I knew there was something about that song I liked! It just screams Usher … the vibe, the style, the lyrics, pretty much everything. But yeah, “Get It Shawty” was a track produced by “J Lack” (James Lackey – Usher’s 22-year-old brother) and was originally intended for Usher to be put on his new album that should be releasing this fall.
“I was working in the studio with Jazze Pha one day and Usher’s brother [James] ‘J. Lack’ [Lackey] came by,” Lloyd explained. “[We] recorded a song called ‘Hazel,’ and because of our vibe, he accidentally played me another song called ‘Get It Shawty.’ Usher was there and he kind of waved him off, like, ‘No, what are you doing? You’re not supposed to play that.’ I was just so in love with the song that I had Jazze kind of call them every day and tell them how much I wanted to record it. They actually invited me to the crib, Usher and J. Lack, and we recorded it at their studio. Originally, their stance was, ‘I know you like it, but how about this one?’ And I was like, ‘No, no, no, I want that one!’ [He laughs.] ‘I need that one. That’s the one for me.’ I know Usher wants to showcase J. Lack’s talent on his next project. So I would go as far as to say, yeah, ‘Get It Shawty’ was probably for Usher’s album.”
Can’t you just imagine Usher singing this song? I mean, don’t get me wrong, Lloyd does his thing on the track, but y’all know how things go with Usher. Y’all should know by now it’s about the song, but more about who sings it. Tell me I’m lying… you know it’s the truth!! ;-)
14-year-old Deena Alleyne says she is done with Hip Hop and plans to dance for the lord now » Deena Alleyne says she is sorry for her raunchy dancing with Senegal-born US artist Akon at the Zen nightclub on Thursday. A video clip of the act was posted on the YouTube-Broadcast Yourself website but later pulled after a notification to YouTube by Universal Music Group, which claimed that showing the material was copyright infringment. Konvict Muzik, a record label owned and founded by Akon, is a subsidiary label of Universal Records. Universal Music Group owns the American record label. The clip was also highly publicised on other websites including Vh1 in the United States and Metro in the United Kingdom.
“This whole hip hop thing is a guise and I don’t want any part of it, I don’t want to be any part of it,” said Alleyne during an interview at Chaguanas yesterday. Look at what I have to go through with one mistake that I made. My dad warned me every time and I didn’t listen. I am sorry. Every time he warned me. Everyday my dad would say ‘it is not for you, it is not for you, you do not have to go this way’, but I refused to listen. I don’t want any part of it, not only Zen, everything. The whole hip hop thing, music and clubbing, I don’t want to be part of it.”
Alleyne told the Express that an older friend purchased the ticket for her to attend the event last week. During an interview on Thursday, owner of the Zen nightclub, Johnny Soong said the age limit for the event was 18 years and over. The teenager who admitted that her biggest passion is dancing said she thought that she was only taking part in a normal dance competition. She said after the competition she felt really bad but everyone was congratulating her. CONTINUE READING

PART I – STOP SNITCHIN’
Ok, so recently on Sunday night 60 Minutes did a “ground breaking” special with Anderson Cooper on this “snitching phenomenon” breaking into the homes of the African-American community where he interviewed rapper Cam’Ron… OK???… I understand the whole “NO SNITCHIN” thing sweeping people across this good nation but I do believe there is a fine line verses “street cred” and “album sales” what Mr. Cam’Ron stated but uhhh…. What “street cred”??? I find it oh so interesting how some artist talk about “keepin’ it real” and being a gangsta when they from the damn suburbs and ain’t nowhere near “HOOD” as they claim and HELL! What “album sells”??? I highly doubt any individual from the “HOOD” would even purchase such mess in record stores or online on account of bootlegging… So, wouldn’t that hurt your “album sales”? It really wouldn’t make a difference to tell you the truth so I ask…

The “Shoot the Rapper” banner ad (shown above) that I have frequently spotted on MySpace is really starting to erk me now in a way, it just started popping up more and more ever since I’ve placed that link (also shown above) from my dedication post to the Virgina Tech victims up there. I just ignored it at first, but now I’m seeing more and more people complaining about this issue, one blogger who saw the ad while looking at the profile of a Virginia Tech victim said, “I was looking at one student’s MySpace profile, and noticed the rotating banner ad: ‘Shoot the Rapper, win $5,000.‘ I hope MySpace deletes the ad soon.” Shawn Gold, CMO of MySpace said that banner ads on MySpace aren’t placed contextually and so whatever is happening is random, “That’s a random network ad that runs throughout out site, and it’s not connected contextually because we don’t place banner ads contextually on MySpace,” said Gold. “It’s inappropriate if the ads are running on those profiles, and we can eliminate them from our network if that’s the case.” – Read More Here

Apparently, Viacom subsidiary, and MTV affiliate VH1, who is popular for reality shows like Flavor of Love 1 & 2, I Love New York, Celebrity Fit Club, The Surreal Life, and now Mo’Nique’s Charm School is under fire for ripping the idea of a lady by the name of Drew Sidora for a show she called “Ghetto Fabulous.” In a letter obtained by Hip Hop Crunch, you can see how exactly everything went down .. check out the full letter after the cut!
RE: Drew Sidora – “Ghetto Fabulousâ€
Ladies and Gentlemen:
We represent Drew Sidora and her affiliated entities. VH1’s new reality television series “Charm School†(the “Seriesâ€) is a blatant infringement of Ms. Sidora’s copyrighted reality television project “Ghetto Fabulous†(the “Projectâ€).
Ms. Sidora and her manager, Allison Jordan, together with Charles Sims, prepared a treatment (the “Treatmentâ€) for the Project, which they registered with the Writers Guild of America on February 19, 2004 and again on April 8, 2004. In early 2005, Ms. Jordan and Corliss King pitched the Project and submitted the Treatment to Stacey Jenkins at VH1. Ms. Jordan and Ms. King described the Project as a reality show about “Ghetto Fabulous†girls who are taught proper etiquette and transformed from ghetto to glamorous. Ms. Jordan and Ms. King spoke with Ms. Jenkins on multiple separate occasions over the course of more than a year, setting forth many potential story ideas and scenarios.
Although Ms. Jenkins unequivocally indicated to Ms. Jordan and Ms. King that VH1 genuinely liked the concept and told them that VH1 intended to pursue the Project, Ms. Jordan and Ms. King did not hear from Ms. Jenkins or anyone else at VH1 again. Ms. Sidora therefore presumed that VH1 had elected not to pursue the development of the Project. CONTINUE READING
