Can You Imagine Usher Singing “Get It Shawty” ??

I knew there was something about that song I liked! It just screams Usher … the vibe, the style, the lyrics, pretty much everything. But yeah, “Get It Shawty” was a track produced by “J Lack” (James Lackey – Usher’s 22-year-old brother) and was originally intended for Usher to be put on his new album that should be releasing this fall.

“I was working in the studio with Jazze Pha one day and Usher’s brother [James] ‘J. Lack’ [Lackey] came by,” Lloyd explained. “[We] recorded a song called ‘Hazel,’ and because of our vibe, he accidentally played me another song called ‘Get It Shawty.’ Usher was there and he kind of waved him off, like, ‘No, what are you doing? You’re not supposed to play that.’ I was just so in love with the song that I had Jazze kind of call them every day and tell them how much I wanted to record it. They actually invited me to the crib, Usher and J. Lack, and we recorded it at their studio. Originally, their stance was, ‘I know you like it, but how about this one?’ And I was like, ‘No, no, no, I want that one!’ [He laughs.] ‘I need that one. That’s the one for me.’ I know Usher wants to showcase J. Lack’s talent on his next project. So I would go as far as to say, yeah, ‘Get It Shawty’ was probably for Usher’s album.”

Can’t you just imagine Usher singing this song? I mean, don’t get me wrong, Lloyd does his thing on the track, but y’all know how things go with Usher. Y’all should know by now it’s about the song, but more about who sings it. Tell me I’m lying… you know it’s the truth!! ;-)

Everyday my dad would say ‘it is not for you, it is not for you, you do not have to go this way’, but I refused to listen. I don’t want any part of it, not only Zen, everything. PART I – STOP SNITCHIN’

Ok, so recently on Sunday night 60 Minutes did a “ground breaking” special with Anderson Cooper on this “snitching phenomenon” breaking into the homes of the African-American community where he interviewed rapper Cam’Ron… OK???… I understand the whole “NO SNITCHIN” thing sweeping people across this good nation but I do believe there is a fine line verses “street cred” and “album sales” what Mr. Cam’Ron stated but uhhh…. What “street cred”??? I find it oh so interesting how some artist talk about “keepin’ it real” and being a gangsta when they from the damn suburbs and ain’t nowhere near “HOOD” as they claim and HELL! What “album sells”??? I highly doubt any individual from the “HOOD” would even purchase such mess in record stores or online on account of bootlegging… So, wouldn’t that hurt your “album sales”? It really wouldn’t make a difference to tell you the truth so I ask…

The “Shoot the Rapper” banner ad (shown above) that I have frequently spotted on MySpace is really starting to erk me now in a way, it just started popping up more and more ever since I’ve placed that link (also shown above) from my dedication post to the Virgina Tech victims up there. I just ignored it at first, but now I’m seeing more and more people complaining about this issue, one blogger who saw the ad while looking at the profile of a Virginia Tech victim said, “I was looking at one student’s MySpace profile, and noticed the rotating banner ad: ‘Shoot the Rapper, win $5,000.‘ I hope MySpace deletes the ad soon.” Shawn Gold, CMO of MySpace said that banner ads on MySpace aren’t placed contextually and so whatever is happening is random, “That’s a random network ad that runs throughout out site, and it’s not connected contextually because we don’t place banner ads contextually on MySpace,” said Gold. “It’s inappropriate if the ads are running on those profiles, and we can eliminate them from our network if that’s the case.” – Read More Here
