Melanie Brown Puts Eddie Murphyâ€™s Name on Babyâ€™s Birth Certificate Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown has officially listed Eddie Murphy as the father of her daughter on the baby’s birth certificate, a source close to Brown tells PEOPLE. “He’s definitely been named on the birth certificate,” says the source. Brown, 31, gave birth to the baby girl on April 3. Murphy, who once dated Brown, has said he doesn’t know who the child’s father is. Naming Murphy on the baby’s birth certificate is the latest turn in a saga between the pair. In December, before the singer officially announced her pregnancy, Murphy, 46, questioned the baby’s paternity during an interview on Dutch TV. “I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test,” he said after being asked about rumors that he’d fathered the baby. “You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir.”

Two days later, Brown put out a statement saying she was “upset and distressed at some of the comments made by Eddie.” The British born singer added: “I was astonished at what Eddie said â€“ there is absolutely no question that Eddie is the father.” A rep for Murphy had no comment when reached by PEOPLE on Wednesday. Despite British reports that Brown has picked a name for her daughter, she has not yet chosen one, says the source, who called the stories “total rubbish.”

Thank God! Because that original name – Fortuna Daphne Bay – was NOT the business! But uhm, it’s been over a week .. when the hell is she gonna pick out a name? I hope she isn’t waiting on Eddie’s tired ass… I’m ready for that damn paternity test! What about you??
