Who Owns the Track? Jagged Edge vs Ciara!

Welcome to the second edition of ‘Who Owns the Track?’ Where old school meets new! This one is a little tougher, I decided to go on and post it since both songs are similar in a way, our artists are Jagged Edge and Ciara; Jagged Edge with there hit “Promise” reaching #1 on the R&B charts and #9 on the Hot 100 and Ciara with hers debuting on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles at twenty-four. After two weeks on the chart, “Promise” debuted at #45 on the Billboard Hot 100, making the single Ciara’s highest debut and the top debut of that week (source: Wikipedia). There is this case - of course Jagged Edge would win because that was an ultimate hit, you can’t beat out the old school BUT Ciara has been on her grind lately, they play her single heavy down here, people seem to dig it so I think this would be a tie in my book because they both did their thing! Which version of “Promise” do you guys like?

    Hey wuddup,
    I think the song of Jagged Edge has more feelin, I feel that one more,
    But I feel the song of ciara 2 & it makes me dance on a slowjam.
    if I really have 2 pick one. I choose Jagged Edge because I think,
    I kinda feel that they sing wit their hearts.

    Definatly J.E.’s track! I so so loved that one back in the days..and I agree with Melloney^ They sing with their hearts..(like always!) Still I also really like Ciara’s song.. anda again agree with melloney.. it makes you dance.. I love the beat in it too..this was a hard one to decide cause I love them both.. but J.E. is a classis!! so..:)

    Isnt this suppose to be the same song, cuase they are totally diffrent lol. I say Ciara anyway.

    Yeah, I completely agree with Melloney, I think I like the J.E. “Promise” a little better. And Koriee, yeah they’re different songs but they are both similar in a way, that’s why I decided to post. They don’t necessarily have to be the exact same track, I said that in the first ‘Hot or Flop’ feature.

    I think I’ll go with Jagged Edge.. but mainly cuz I find Ciara’s Promise annoying and boring!

    The only thing similar between the two songs is the mother effing title. Nothing is similar about the 2 songs moke. I’ll go with ciara’s promise. but jagged edge’s song is cool too, but all their slow songs sound the same…….no variation what so ever.

    Lea… by “similar” I mean the concept, it’s just basically a male version and a female version to me, If you look up the lyrics to both you will see ;)

    Ciara sucks. I don’t see the hype about her. If Baby Girl Aaliyah was still here, Ciara would be a joke. More than a joke she is now, I mean.
